Aventurine has announced that beginning October 17th, all past and present subscribers will be able to log back into Darkfall and play for free until November 15th. On November 15th, Darkfall servers will be shut down for good to make way for Darkfall: Unholy Wars.

When Unholy Wars launches, the original game will shutter its doors. Player characters will not make the transfer but owners have been promised the 'viability' will move with them. Current subscribers will also be able to score DFUW for the price of a subscription.

With the massive number of changes and additions the team wanted to implement, it eventually evolved into a new game called Darkfall Unholy Wars. The team has released a new video giving insight into the new iteration of the PvP-centric game.

Players purchase meditation points and then can choose the skill(s) to work on via an in-game panel or on the Darkfall External Web Interface Tool.

Flambouras talks about the progress on the upcoming expansion including working with player feedback to improve the new player experience among many other things.

Part of the reason Flambouras gives for bringing offline skill leveling to Darkfall is to cut down on the tedious, repetitive tasks that new players encounter when entering the game. By enabling offline skill leveling, new players 'close the gap' faster.
