If the skill gains dont stay permanent after this weekend, you screwed any new player from ever catching up to the average pvp'r when this weekend is over along with anybody you already screwed (a small % but did I know a few) who played by the rules and didnt macro-AFK 24/7 when this skill gain weekend ends, and its far greater then the advertised "x4"-  I assume they just moved the factor up 4 times so its really closer to x48 (hence the dumb and dumber ref)

AV made me think of this quote from dumb & dumber~ "just when I thought you couldnt possibly be any dumber, you go and do something like this...and totally redeem yourself!" and wondered if anybody else was completly confused by this move?

The biggest impact it really had was on magic skills and crafting, and tbh anyone who was brand new didnt get much out of it except faster skilling in the basic magics. The majority of my clan wound up having to nearly completely empty their banks just to afford regs to keep skilling up. A new player who didnt have a lot of cash, crafting mats, regs, and gear stockpiled couldnt afford to advance extremely fast. IF they had increased loot drop rates (which was what they made it sound like at first) rather than adding random unusual drops to all mobs it would have been much easier for a new player. But simply buying all of the magic schools + individual spells + enhancements runs you several dozens of thousands of gold without counting the cost of regs to level those things.

I grinded magic like 75% of the time i was on and got my elemental schools maxed (from 60-70 already) but still didnt have time to get spell chanting high enough for arcane, level my intesifies much, and gained about 20 points of intelligence. My other stats and my melee masteries barely went up (like 5 points in 2 different melee masteries and maybe 2 points of things like strength). Its not as if everyone is suddenly maxed out in all stats and skills. It saved maybe 1-2 months of grinding depending on how much you play, but it didnt by any means make it impossible to catch up if you play a decent amount. Mainly what it did is give those who are new to intermediate players a better fighting chance against the vets. We still dont have the base stats they do, or the PvP experience using the spells we all suddenly have. In just about any game you can give someone a fully maxed out toon with the best gear in the game, but it doesnt mean theyre going to instantly roll faces until they learn to play well and use their abilities correctly. In Darkfall it's an even bigger difference.

Anyway, hopefully it will bring a decent mount of people to / back to the game and theyll do something like it again in the future.

Any new player could have farmed something like trolls until getting 100 in every preferred skill over that weekend.

I acheived 100 in a few skills that I never really used before in only about 3 hours and it only took around 3k of regs at most.

This weekend opened up my eyes to how easy the skill gain really is now compared to before. I mean when imagining what I did and mupltiplying it by four really isn't that tough of a grind but it is tough enough that I just hit 75 in what I use and play from there since I hate grinding. Hitting 75 in every preferred skill is done now adays pretty fast.

NEWS FLASH! A bank was robbed the other day and a man opened fire on the customers being held hostage. One customer zig-zag sprinted until he found cover. When questioned later he explained that he was a hardcore Darkfall Online player and knew just what to do.
