So I just resubscribed to DF (even though I just posted I didn't feel it was worth a monthly), I got interested in this game again for some reason... so ya I changed my mind. Anyway, I wanted to at lest tell my story of resubscribing and the issue involved as it might help other people when deciding to pay a monthly for this game.
I read about the latest patch yesterday and it was enough for me to go and try it again. At first I went and got the trial but was unable to log in with it "Invalid username or password (#3)" would always show up after an attempt to log in. So whatever I thought and decided $15.00 wasn't that huge amount and it gave me more than 14 days to goof around in DF. So I hit resubscribe, and the same thing happened. I read online forum posts about the same issue and tried a few different changes and still "Invalid username or password (#3)" would not let me in.
I filed a support ticket and I have to say I'm impressed with the response time from them. At no point yesterday did I go more than 3 hrs waiting for a reply. Usually I heard back from AV's CS within a few minutes. This is not what I expected at all, even though I am on step 7 or 8 of the process and I am still unable to login and play, I am at least being responded to in a quick manner. And as I sat there yesterday after watching football and wanting to play I wasn't upset about it because at least I am in contact with someone about it.
Yes I would think this could have been resolved quicker and I should be able to play after paying. However I'm not really pissed about not being able to. I guess being placated is worth something, AV doesn't have me here bashing them about not being able to play. Instead I'm actually commending them for it oO. Odd I know. I just think more companies should respond this way. Some form of communication is so much better than nothing, no matter what the context is. Be it game, phone company or what not.
Thought I'd at least give a some positive feedback when I feel it's deserved, instead of only negative. Now if they could just tell me whether my character will be wiped or not... maybe I'll open another ticket after this gets cleared up :p
