A new list of changes that I propose to be made for DF 2.0. These changes are designed to ensure that a relaunch of the game would have the greatest economy and empire building experience possible, without causing any type of annoyance to exeryday gaming experiences. Constructive criticism is welcome. |

"All Characters, Banks, and Holdings will be wiped clean from the server at the onset of the expansion." What the heck? So am I losing my character wilth all the investment of time I have done on it? Am I losing my hard earned levels and bank? What the heck? No way I start everything again. Bye, bye darkfall. |

Originally posted by RPGForever This is not an official patch or anything. It's a "wishlist" written by Zaffax (and possibly a few more?). Although, AV mentionned that they were considering a wipe on various different levels, which is what started the whole conversation.
Edit: Skeaser beat me to it. ------ |

Originally posted by RPGForever A wipe wont happen i believe. But if you followed the news and everything, you should know that the grind wont exist in 2.0 anymore. You wont be able to use everything in a fight according to the gear you wear. Prestige class, i dont know if its still on the plan, but if it is, it will reduce the grind even more. Most passive skills including buff will be remove. Probably a revamp on spells too. Now you know, even a newb will be able to catch up really fast. So even if there is a wipe, it wont be a problem at all. Played DF trial for 2 weeks none stop. Check out my pvp video during trial.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJnU_JEqKRM |

Banking: The only problem I have with regional banking is that it eliminates almost all of the risk with traveling. i.e. If a player has to cross a region to get to their destination, then they could just bank in the city on the side that they started and cross that region naked, then take out all their stuff in the city on the other side. It just makes more sense to keep every bank local. However, I do like your idea that players can see their entire inventory from any bank, but can not withdraw it. Your auction house is a decent start, but I think it could use some minor tweaks. Make it globally accessible, but purchases can only be made locally. It would be very similar to how the banks operate.
Transportation: I don't have too many problems with your suggestions. I would prefer that all transportation forms have to be deployed from certain npc locations, and not allow players to despawn them except at those locations. Mounts/Wagons can be deployed from houses or stables. Small ships from docks. Large ships from harbors. Military depot can deploy eveything but would be restricted depending upon location. i.e. boats can only be deployed near water Instead of giving a 30% speed bonuse on roads a large 70% reduction in stamina loss seems better. Roads don't really increase your speed, but make you more efficient at achieving your top speed. However, speed doesn't really work that way in DF, and stamina reducing stamina loss to increase a players distance they can travel, or react to attack seems like a better implementation. I don't really know why ship mechanics fall under travel, but making cannon balls travel through players doesn't seem like a good idea. Instead increase the cannon ball damage, add splash damage and a knock back radius, add physics ( arch ) increase the reload time to something like 20 seconds. I would rather see nexus parts changed to an visible item that can placed on a wagon or in the city.
Cities: Sieging just needs an overhaul in general. City nodes should be eliminated and instead enemies should gain access to the city bank after their win. Instead of invulnerability the zap towers should not cause damage, but stun players with a 30 sec debuff if insides the city. Instead of nerfing the items that can be made, just increase the cost for using NPC crafting stations. Make it require more resources and add a tax. |
