There is a lot of heated debate on the forums on this topic, so I wanted to poll this community and see what they thought. Read up on the blog about the upcoming Darkfall 2.0 which is meant to address many issues and be like a whole "new game".

If Aventurine were to wipe the game, people would simply macro back up to their previous skill levels like they did the first time. Those who put the most work into leveling would probably not even bother coming back to do it all again, so you would wind up in the same position. |

Originally posted by Omali I believe after the launch they are going to strictly enforce the TOS, and the character progression is going to be so different I don't believe they'll allow that power gap to exist as it did in Darkfall 1.0 If the power gap STILL exists and the macroers gain insane advantages, the game will surely die. I don't think they'll make that mistake twice. |

the better question is...
will darkfall rise from the dead with this new expansion/relaunch.
Darkfall is a game made for massive fights.. we do have some at the moment but.. its more like the whole server shows up
You ask me whipe yes or not? ( my char is high end )
If this whipe will help darkfall to get more players i say yes
But knowing AV history in bringing updates and patching this whole darkfall game will prolly be dead
I hope they actually sell there project to a decent game company
don''t get more wrong tho.. darkfall is one of kind.. the combat is awesome.. |

I couldn't get any actual information out of that post, so as far as I'm concerned it's too premature to vote on whether there should be a wipe or not. -------- The most awesomest after school special T-shirt: |

Originally posted by Snoepie Haha So true. I bet we get the "We have reduced the grind from 1/2 of infinity to 1/3 of infinity". I`ll never be back if they wipe my char without slashing the pvp grind to a few months. Ahh well, the game is already dead so AV got nothing to lose. |

If they apply what they learned this first time around to 2.0, I will give it a second chance for sure. Its also nice to know that if you purchased the game already, there is no need to purchase it for its rebirth. 15 dollars (monthly fee) is well worth the gamble imo. |

Everyone is playing this game on low settings to get decent fps.. heck not one single normal home computer can run darkfall because of there crappy one core coding and everytime they patch there bringing new models. AV is TOTAL FAIL ---> sollution sell the whole project to a company with brains..

I would need a skill cap. I don't mind taking longer to get up to speed cause I don't play as often as some people. I totally enjoy my social life and you gotta have priorities. I don't mind being stomped a lot for a while, but for years? that's ridiculous. That is the current Darkfall for a casual gamer. Love the game, but never saw any decent PvP in it. Even the 50, 100, 200 person raids I was in were so zerg and unbalanced. Sometimes I was on the winning side sometimes not, but it was all boring cause there was no chance for a different outcome. "Never met a pack of humans that were any different. Look at the idiots that get elected every couple of years. You really consider those guys more mature than us? The only difference between us and them is, when they gank some noobs and take their stuff, the noobs actually die." - Madimorga |

For instance, you cant have a hundred in all weapon masteries, and all spell schools as it would exceed the "cap" on skill leveles allowed.
Under a skill cap, it would look more like "one weapon mastery at 100, a magic school at 100, and maybe a secondary mastery around 50". |

Originally posted by Omali Except it would take them a week while a normal player playing the game casually would take a month. Actually, with a wipe, both would take a month as both players would need money and creatures yield better gains for skills. So no, your wrong. The definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. When will developers (and players) become sane? Now go eat some grass like everyone else. |

I would consider it if the wipe solved the power gap problem. Obviously, in the short term a wipe solves the power gap problem, but does it solve it in the long term? The answer to that question depends on whether or not you trust AV. Personally, I think they're in over their heads and don't really know what they're doing. As a result, the wipe will simply hurt the casual gamers, while the hardcore gamers and the macroers will be back on top within a few months. So no, a wipe wouldn't draw me back into the game. |

Nope. Open a new server (just one for EU and US) and never allow transfers. This time actually enforce the TOS. |

I voted no, because for me a server wipe isn't the key issue. If the goal is to increase DF's population, they are going to have to reduce the grind and probably introduce a skill cap, or use a combination of gear and prestige classes to create the same effect as a cap. They would also have to change some of the game's mechanics that seem to add difficultly simply for the sake of difficultly. If these changes are made, the veterans will lose their years of character building, wipe or no wipe. |

the key issue, is that the players ahead now will catch up again, but AV has stated that they are working to make it so the impact of a hypothetical wipe would not be as drastic, therefor not as necessary because the time needed to catch up is greatly reduced. Tasos has explicitly stated this multiple times |

wiping isnt enough, they need skill caps for the game and proper balance between melee/magery and archery. They also need to reduce the grind significantly
If they capped skills at 130 on all excisting players of darkfall that would be enough. there are 2 types of mmo, imitators and innovaters. |

One that make game more easy introduce item shop or introduce safezones instance?. AV doing great job they just need to adress cheaters and go back to original ideas back before 2007 we need hardcore not pussy game. Get rid of US server made one super EU server and game florish again.
