What do you think is the predominant psychosocial attribution after being ganked in DF ? 1) enemy was cheating / hacking 2) enemy had uber stats obtained by macroing 3) me has much skill and never loose a fight usually 4) enemy is a skilled player obtained through much PvP experience 5) he had better gear but i am more skilled and should have won if there wasn't his macroed stats. 6) enemy is a evil person in RL , he wouldn't have killed me in game otherwise 7) uhm i have been ganked, crap game mechanics -----MY-TERMS-OF-USE-------------------------------------------------- "There was suppression of speech and all kinds of things between disturbing and fascistic." This forum like many others tends to be polar opposites, rarely do we see a balanced viewpoint. If you had to choose the single most significant positive and negative about this game from a balanced perspective (no hate, no fanboism), what would they be and why? |

Originally posted by Zinzan While the question was aimed at OP, I'll add my personal view point as I am also a veteran player. A positive aspect of Darkfall for me would be the FFA Full Loot PvP and the FPS/TPS aspect. It creates a completly different mentality in the players who must adjust to face the many consequences, while the FPS/TPS adds a skill-based layer to the experience, and that's something I quite like. As for the Negative aspect, I'd have to say Aventurine. The way they treat their customers is rather poor and they often end up "lying" to their playerbase or promising heaven and earth but never delivering, which is where they lose all credibility as a company and become the most negative aspect of Darkfall for me, mainly because they "are" the developers, so any issues in the game is tied directly with the source. (And this is not me being a hater or anything. There are many exemples of this, such as this one.) ------ |

I have a question
How many exploits did you use or afk stat farming did you find necessary to earn your current characters place? "Sometimes people say stuff they don''t mean, but more often then that they don''t say things they do mean" |

Heard a lot about this game that intrigues me. Yet, also heard a lot about macroing to get skills etc. How will I fare in this game considering I dont have a damn clue about macros whatsoever? |

Originally posted by tinuelle There is no skill caps, so everyone who has been playing since server launch has 100 everything and it takes months of legit play to get combat stats to max... then you need magic... then you need w/e else and it's a never ending grind that you lose because of the ability others had at exploiting. It's sad because I wanted better for DFO... All they had to do was use Ultima Onlines skill cap and it would be much friendlier to new players. How about when, if ever, is DF2.0 going to be released?

Originally posted by Redemp This is something Aventurine has vaguely mentionned once or twice, I wouldn't put my hope on it. That being said, if they ever were to release anything it would be around 2017-18 at best, since DarkFall 2.0 is only in a "planning" stage, and Aventurine *is* a relatively small company (~30 employees) so taking on 2 projects at once with a low income would be quite the challenging task. ------ |

I m thinking to try DF, i m actualy downloading the trial right now. And i have some questions:
1) i heard there is no level cap on skills, that means that someone might have 100000 level on a skill? so i will never beat him in a 1vs1 right?
2) How hard is it to obtain some descent gear to start pvping?
that is for now. |

Originally posted by dlevel 1 - Individual skills and abilities are capped at 100. However you can have as many as you want (unless you take abilities like Destoryer which restrict you). If your REALLY good at FPS you can keep up with vets and even kill them. Its rare, but happens. 2 - Takes money, as with any MMO. If you don't have friends then you have to make some and find ways to bring in cash. Everything is player made so start learning who the good crafters are (anyone can make weapons and armor, but the best items are made by dedicated crafters). Don't expect an EQ clone when you play. The definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. When will developers (and players) become sane? Now go eat some grass like everyone else. |

Grind, macro, exploit and the things that where not ingame but was promised when game launched thats what killed Darkfall. Also let the major cheater doing there thing for longtime and no bans is also major mistake by devs. Tasos talked so much promised so much but never realy delivered and the complete change of mindset of how game should be by our norwegian friends thats what also put nail in coffin. We talked for years on forumfall about how the mahirim would roam in packs to mirdain or alfar lands as predetors and rip out there hearts with our friends brutal orks helping us but the lore was abandon no race wars and we got instead a stupid all loving race zerg a all hug me race clans and result from day 1 a insanely stupid ZERG war that ruin the game in first 6 months with as end result super cheater clans like MERCS kill of whole war. Devs made a great game but destroyed it themselfs with helping hand player base who for most part all cheated i know only few who played without afk and macro or exploit but thats a handfull :( Last months on EU i was running around empty world was no fun so i quit, played for 2 years sinds beta. Can't bring myself back into game anymore all tho i like games like Darkfall becouse of freedom and free for all full loot, but i hate cheaters the most, devs where just to weak without courage to firmly take massures agains afk and exploit, so they dumb down game with offline system bah:(

Originally posted by MadnessRealm I didn't write my question out very well, what I meant by DF 2.0 was : the Prestige classes , Armor Restrictions , an economy , and generally all the sand thats been promised. I resub every three months when a patch releases ( which is comical ) , in hopes the game has "changed" into something I can more enjoy. I am always greeted with a " This patch was just fluff and minor things, the real meat is when prestige classes hit" when I begin to groan about One-man armies. So have prestige classes and Armor restrictions been scrapped? |
