Which is a better PVP game?  I want a DF player's perspective on why DF is better than Aion for PVP endgame.

I have only played Darkfall for quite some time, to be honest i found Aion too much alike of a regular asian grindfest with wings & good pvp qualities, but thats just my opinion of course!

The games are nothing like eachother, i'm not sure if Aion has a trial but Darkfall does, and when you start, you shouldn't let the game scare you too much as this happens with most newbies who try Darkfall.

You should probably go around the net (read: youtube) to view some players perspectives in pvp battles, i do not currently play Darkfall, but the bigger pvp battles really gave this feeling of a war, which i loved.

Go trialling!

Well see I have played both before, but both require a large time investment to get to fun competitive PVP.  So I can't really find that out in a trial I would rather get some advice before I spend weeks of time getting there.

I know both games are way different.  I like Darkfall because nothing is instanced, but I want to know a few things:

How easy is it to find larg scale PVP?

How often does it happen?

When is the new expansion coming?

for teams of around 5 if you are in a large clan living in a player city you likely could get pvp nightly but it would wear you out because generally speaking you bring in more and get better skill gain by playing pve than pvp.

that said, the largest of clans do epic events pretty much every weekend. (aka sea towers). Epic in my mind is around 100 people on the mini map.

now, with all that said, I think generally speaking the gaming community considers you hard core pvp if you can handle darkfall, not  so much that rep for Aion if you care about that kind of thing and finally, the combat is very simply a blast in this game compared to other mmos

does your game have rainbow sprinkles and magic ponies!?

Long answer: Darkfall is dead, and was a pretty bad game all along. Aion just released new content so it would be a good time to get into I guess. I played it at NA Launch and it was a horrible game but I'm told they fixed a lot of issues. Choosing between two evils, Aion.

Short answer: Neither.

Money in politics is the root of all political evil. It is corruption at it's worst.

What adult in their right minds would care what the gaming community (not even sure what that is) considers you?

To OP, the games are very different. One is FFA full loot PvP in a sandbox world and the other one is mostly a PvE/RvR game with two near identical factions (ability-wise) in a linear themepark world. Very dificult to compare and it all pretty much comes down to game style preference.

Don't know about others experience, but I think Darkfall is a better pvp game.

They created Aion to have good pvp, but the technology and mechanism used made it worse for pvp.

I only tried Darkfall, but it was good. Nice starter areas, good friendly people if you can escape the griefers. Classless and no level.  Also lots of stuff to do aside pvp and killing monsters. (but they do come with a grind tag on it)

Aion has classes which overpower others. you can't be melee without nerdraging. The abyss pvp makes my pc come to a crawl because I get a stutter while each player texture/model is loaded from my HDD. This may be only for me, but then again...

@Yamota it does matter to some people not me however.

Another item on Darkfall is that its clan warfare with cities and ships that can be damaged and taken which is the only pvp I am intrested in myself so for me Aion would have zero pvp appeal to me

I would vote for Aion, but it's really like asking whether you'd want to be kicked in the nuts or shot in the face.

If you're really asking wether you should be playing either DarkFall or Aion, than clearly just play Aion. Why? Because they are VERY different PvP experience, and the fact that you are putting them both on a nearly even level shows either a lack of understanding of Darkfall's PvP, or simply a clear preference to Aion-like PvP. In which case, begs the question as to why are you even considering DarkFall an option?

You're comparing an Open World FFA PvP MMORPG with Full Loot, FPS/TPS skill-based combat (DarkFall) with A highly instanced MMORPG with PvP areas, point&click/alt+12345 combat, very little death penality (Aion).

That said, I'd personally recommand neither of these MMOs. But if you really want to play one of those, go with Aion. Chances are that you'll get more for your money in Aion than you would in DarkFall.

if you like FPS fast paced ffa combat with friendly fire, naval battles etc play darkfall

if you like 2 faction no friendly fire, auto-target 1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4 repeat combat play aion

Surely you jest, you ask which game is better by asking only DF players to respond....riight.

I started playing Aion again recently and Im supriced who good it feels now, since I hated it about a year ago :P

it's still a little grindy, but population is good and the gameplay seems somewhat better than it used to be.

I've also tried Darkfall, but it seemed pretty dead to me tbh, and I guess it wasnt "my cup of tea"...

SO I say try Aion:) it got a free trial now, and if you have an account I think it's still a couple of days left of the reactivation week;)

It all depends upon how much of a team player you really are and if you like to play a well populated MMO. If yes go with AION because Darkfall has serious problems when it comes to population.

How can you possibly consider playing Aion an EQ clone with terrible 10 year old combat to a brand new real twitch combat game?

Darkfall would win hands down if you are looking at the PvP element.

However I dont find Darkfall to be a very deep game, there is PvP and that is about it. You might want to try Mortal Online for more depth of play - once the expansion comes out that is ! (3 - 4 weeks)

In short take Aion off your list now.

in other words, you have no clue what you're talking about.  Aion is a really terrible game.  Darkfall is 100 times better than Aion in every way possible.  Darkfall was fine at launch and is still fine to this day.  Get the facts straight before you talk out of your ass.

Darkfall is an FPS game that takes skill.  Aion is a tab targeting mmo.  If you like tab targeting (ie. no skills) then play Aion.  If you like games that take skill and dedication, then give Darkfall a try.

Yes, Darkfall still has problems with the grind and such but eventually I'm hoping it will all be fixed.  I quit Darkfall about a month ago but it's still leaps and bounds better than Aion and I've played both.

10 years as a hardcore MMO player; if you try DFO first then get some decent skills, you will find Aion utterly boring.

If you try Aion first, you might not EVER find out what DFO has to offer, cause you will probably a "themepark MMO player" for life.

Go for DFO I'd say!

Really makes me wonder how people can even compare the two games. One game is similar to EQ/WoW. The other is FPS style with a old-school UO backbone. If you were asking for people's opnions on AoC vs Darkfall or Aion vs WAR, then there would be some room for discussion. But these two games are more or less opposite as far as MMOs go.

And oscar, DF was definitely not fine at launch. It's gotten better and I still would pick it over any recent MMO but let's not bs about how poorly the game was launched.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Self-confessed DF fanboy. Finally a real ****ing MMO.
