Hey'

Wifey has been pasting Rift lately and has developed a taste for PVP,  so like a mug I suggested she might like to try darkfall. Was not aware that trying to download and run Darkfall was like pushing oil uphill. However after a few attempts at downloading it (3) we now have a copy that she can actually start and get as far as new character, then clicks play and it then gets stuck on loading screen, which flashes continually and goes nowhere. Tried their support, nothing that works there. Anyone have any useful advice, besides give up and go back to Rift, would be much appreciated.

Hmm, well if you cna run rift fine, you should be able to run darkfall fine. The loading screen locks up? Well it takes quite some time for it to load, are you sure it's becoming unresponsive?

edit: Should try the repair tool if u havent already

Thx for reply. Have left it running for 30 mins but then the loading screen ( one with pic and hellfreeze) just corrupts. Have tried repair tool a few times, that runs okay but does not fix the issue.

Done a quick search on google and forumfall, didn't come up with much sadly.

Are your drivers up-to-date? There are 2 possibilities with the drivers, either they're not up-to-date and thus cause trouble, or they are up-to-date but are causing some trouble in which case you' d have to roll back to a previous driver update and it *should* work (if that was truly the issue).
 
Otherwise there's another possibility that has to do with shaders. You'll basically want to change Shaders to PS1_0. I'll quote bobii on how to do it:

did you download the torrent installition off the game? I know it sounds weird and it was over a year ago when I coulden´t run the game after installing it so I removed it from my torrent so it wasen't seeding and did a fresh install that worked

Thx for advice. Latest video drivers are installed, not willing to rollback as it screws up Rift and prefer to run with latest drivers or end up with more problems elsewhere (Rift for one). Could not get the torrent to work at all, had to download  normally from server.

Tried the  Documents and settings route, but all there is in application data for darkfall is a directory marked update and the icon to start repair/ uninstall ect.

Have submitted a ticket a few hours ago but no reply as yet. There is someone on their forums with the same problem but unfortunately no solution as yet.

Well you need to post your wifes specs for her computer. Rift and DF are two entirely different games. It could be anything thats causing it to do that. A corrupt download, try running her game account on your computer, try running her account without yours running on her computer. Try reinstalling the whole thing, redownload it from torrent. Maybe a router issue. Tons of things, your descriptions is ambigious at best. Most likely her hardware isn't good enough to run it, probably due to the shaders.
