They should seriously just reconsider even having skills and skill gain.

Just give everyone 1 skill to pick, which starts at max. Every [x] experience points, let them choose an additional skill, which starts at max.

This way the veterans have all the skills at max. The newbies just have limited skills at max. Yet at least everyone is on an even playing field, which is what we all really want.

Until then, this game is a waste of life and a waste of time to even download.

You are wrong.  The Grind™ is officially GONE.

The definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. When will developers (and players) become sane? Now go eat some grass like everyone else.

No, this is what you want, and I recommend first person shooters or waiting for Guild Wars 2 which might be more to your liking. (or Planetside Next)

DF is the typical MMORPG, it rewards players PVE activities with greater and greater powers which puts distance (and yes, unfair advantage) between those starting out and those who've "paid their dues" as it were.

Now, since DF is a full loot game, fair and balanced combat, or the level playing field as you put it, is never desireable.  With this sort of "penalty" for losing it is of utmost importance to make sure that as much as possible, you never, ever lose.

If that means having 30 levels and 300 more HPS than your oppoent, great.  If you don't have that, then you try to zerg them to death.  There is no honor on the battlefield, only winners and losers, and you want to make sure you always win if possible.

As for macroing skills, whatever, I'd prefer the game be designed to prevent that, but if the bulk of the player base can go along with it, fine they are the ones enjoying the game. (sort of)

I do not know about  rewardnig players for PvE activities, AFK swim/run/jump/tough yorself gets you there the fastest and is still used. I am all up for the earn concept but DF lost me when I was able to walk from one  island to the next without getting my feet wet so I can understand how this guy feels. Paying dues still consists of bloodwalls and macro's but,  it is like you say...if they plaer base wants to go with it...coo.

(it never was because playing active had more gains it was the afk nature of the gains letting them talk about "faster gains" using their away time to gain stats)

Paying dues still consists of bloodwalls and macro's but, Bloodwalls were amatter like 1,5 years ago. When did you last play DArkfall rather then talk Darkfall?

@ opening poster..

your are wrong

First GSO in darkfall.

There are people running around with newbie chars ownning the vets.. simple is that..

and yes the stats does gives you a minor plus but everything in darkfall gives a minor plus

Like Q5 feather  Q5 mana  and so on..

What you want then? start a new char and and have a end char from the start? impossible go play shooters if you wanne be equal.. every mmo have some sort of progression some have levels some have skills

Last thing. Darkfall is complete players skilled game

You can have a uber char and still suck in pvp.

There are shitoads of factors you need to consider.

 -  Aim

 - movement

 - terrain

 - casting the correct spells and the correct time

 - keep your stats up ( hp/mana/stamina)

The grind have been reduced yes trough medition

can you cap all combat skills in 40-50 houers? in wow you can level 85 in 30 and i think even that is way to much. if this game was themeparked with group dungedons/battlegrounds/epic quest lines a longer time of "grinding" would be resnable. but in dfo it seems like it's just grinding mob after mob. witch get booring after 2 houers. so if 50 houers are good for a themepark mmo in a sandbox you sould level combat in mabey 20-30. in-depth crafting is another thing.

I don't understand this mentality, that some people think theirs a forever grind or almost no grind at all before you can kill everyone...

the grind has been lessened, bye a lot and archery and meele is very fast to get to competive lvls about a month for a casual.

the problem is that mage thing is the best, but also the longest grind, and for the mage thing you have to grind out meele to, cause thats how darkfall is atm with spell casting people pushing for meele.

the new meditation stuff helps a lot, but theirs still boring grind av needs to look into like the selfbuffs, debuffs, and ulitiy stuff depending on how much off it you want.

I hope the new armor system is gonna put some balance to the game, so archery and meele people get more viable for pvp.

it would also help on the mage grind, if the usal wont be for robed people to push in for meele, but how long mage thing is for a casual I find it hard to put a number on it, maybe 2 months casual to get abit competive with it.

you should just start out with fire magic, and get a few offensive spells to 75 + since most spells are teribley balanced before their reach that but then again, when you do get a offensive spell to 75+ its only gonna be better when it surges at a 100...

also debuffs, are fine at 50 +

buff others barely get any increases in time after 25 +

but for selbuffs, its kinda different if its okay at 25 + or 75 depends on what kind it is

and for getting a offensive spell to 50, is like 3-6 hours, its the push for 75 that takes abit longer but it also depends on what spell it is since they dont lvl at the same rate.

edit: oh for surges, its something stuff can do once where its better, then it goes back to skill 99.90 and you have to cast it anywhere from 10 times for the large aoe's effect to 20, 30 depending on the skill before it surges again

They shouldn't have to. They do because the game was designed poorly...

Nowadays, you can catch up an average player easily and contribute pretty fast since the stats meditation. The only problem left is, a clan of veteran, there is nothing you can do against them. Im talking about The shadow legionaire. A 75 Vet force. Itwas Ping left because he now got over 140 pings, but its still 75 vet force.

But anyway, the world of darkfall is huge. You wont see a TSL member everyday and they mostly raid with a group of 2. There a much more players to kill around the world. The grind got reduce like crazy so dont let a vet stop you from enjoying the game.

Played DF trial for 2 weeks none stop. Check out my pvp video during trial.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJnU_JEqKRM
So you can stop posting that i played DF only for 2 weeks over and over again.

The way I look at it is if you're still complaining about the grind, you either haven't played the game in it's current state, or you're not going to be happy until it's metamorphosized into a fantasy Planetside.

Either way, complaints on the grind are now nothing but comical.
