Im from canada and i had 120-180 pings. I now have below 50 pings.

For NA1, the majority noticed a decrease in ping. Sadly, the monority noticed an increase.

For EU one, its the opposite. Lets hope AV will adress the problem for them.

As for me, DF is much more fun with 50 pings. I use archery a lot more and i hardly miss. With rays, i leave no chance at all. In melee, i can sticky back with ease.

They haven't announced anything for some odd reason. The server was down this morning/late night yesterday for approximatively 6 hours. When the servers went back up, players noticed significant changes to their ping (some going from 90-140 to 40-70, others going from 30-50 to 70-90 and the likes). After some players have done a few tracing, they've discovered the NA server had been moved to California I believe, and EU server from Germany to Holland. Since I'm not playing anymore I haven't been able to verify myself, but those are the results on Forumfall.

It's important to note that AV are not done tweaking the settings ect. After the server was taken down again today several Clan friends found their ping improved dramatically although initally it had increased due to the server location changing.

Players in England depending on their provider have seen an increase in ping, I did at first but now it's lower than ever. The server has moved closer to England therefore it's reasonable to assume it's some other issue, taking extra jumps or w/e I'm not an expert.

Great move by AV, no need to spin a few ping increases of EU into something drastic.

Why would they move their server from Germany (fairly situated in the center of Europe) to Holland (farther west). Of course pings would go up higher for more people. The same for the move to Cali. I thought that the NA sever was in Texas?

My mistake, it's not California, it's Chicago.  As for the reason why for the change in EU, from what I've read a larger part of DarkFall's EU-base is situated in the northern areas. As for NA, it appears to be split 50/50 between East and West so central was the right decision.

It's been in Chicago? That's why I always had a great ping time when I played. I live downstate Illinois. And i guess that it makes sense that more Northern Europeans (is that even a real term?lol) would play as they are based in Sweden.

On NA I have seen many, many more people happy about the switch.

For me I went from a 30ms ping to around 150ms - 200ms. I'm not angry about it as I see why they made the change, but it is game over for me. 150ms ping is to high for a game like this IMO.


I think overall they will lose players with this move and they know it, that is why they did not tell anyone about the server change. They have a stable player base and people that had a 200+ ping that quit the game, are not going to come back because now they will have a 100ms ping. Some people that have been playing with low pings that just had their ping jump to over 150+ ping are going to quit. I doubt they will get the same numbers back from the move as they lose.

For some players, the increase has been much higher than it should, so it's possible that there are issues, not related to the distance between the server and the user, but with the ISP. I believe it is also currently the case for UK players, where some players with certain ISP have observed a significant increase of their ping since servers were re-located, while others have received a better ping. I suggest you look it up.

Give me a break and play the game. Besides AV probably will be trying to fix the pings of the West Coast players. Here's hoping the people that quit due to high ping on the East Coast will come back.

Mhm and if it does get moved back to West Coast at least we will have had a few days of good ping for East Coasters to be able to take a informative stance on how ping affects PvP. It may show little to no affect or it may have a large effect on player skill. We will see. This is what I'm most curious in.

I don't think they'll move it back. They've without a doubt had to invest to move those servers so moving back is unlikely. Although it'd make a lot more sense if they were to move the server closer to central USA, Chicago is a little too close to East Coast, which admittedly is a little unfair to West Coast. East Coast players have all experienced that before server moved, myself included, and had a high ping (120ms) and I wouldn't wish this to West Coast players either. Guess we'll have to wait and see how it goes, but for the current playerbase on West Coast, they should definitively check to see if they can open up some ports or make some changes with their ISP before making the decision to *quit*.  Worked for me when I first started DarkFall.

Nowhere in the middle of America to route through. Dallas-Fort Worth maybe but that's much too southern and would be bad for our Canadian players, which there is a lot of. I think it's fine where it is and people just need to learn to accomodate like we have (East Coast) for so long. I get the impression that people who quit over 100 + ping but below 175 are just whiners, really.

Many players (esp. Americans) asked for server merge. Now everyone can see that it's not a good idea.

If anything these are the tears I am talking about and many concur. I've played with over 100 ping and it's been fine, but that was all I knew since I started playing. If it was playable for us, it is playable for others. I say stop the crying and keep it for in-game.
