Thinking of maybe giving DF another go.  Didn't like it last time that I felt forced to use a 2hander with certain skills to be competitive.  Thinking about maybe trying a daggers/archery type character.  Would attempt to get some magic skills to keep enemies disoriented/blinded and hope on winning most battles with the element of suprise (rogue/assassin character).  Is there any point to trying this or will I just have a good start to combat before getting served by enemies with a huge reach advantage over me(excluding ganking noobs, which isn't really what I want to do).

Thanks,

Jim

There is simply no way to compete in this game unless you submit to the current play style, which is something like start ranged WOF ray spam maybe a debuff, blinds then mayeb some sort of melee or ranged archery more blinds CC repeat.  Thats pretty much all Im seeing on NA at the moment and Im sure its the same on EU.  Heavy heavy use of magic is required.

daggers are viable if you're very good at melee and have decent ping, its still situational and best complemented by another 2 handed weapon.

If you give the game another go, you will find that they have made it much easier to level your character from meditaion and other things

In small spaces daggers were exceptionally well, yes. But in the open field, much harder to use.

K ty guys, was this way when I quit, and was part of the reason I did quit.  I love the open ended skill system, but the lack of skill cap and viable builds basically makes it so there is only one class and does away with the purpose of a open ended skill system.

Lets face it, MMOs today are turning into single player console games with a chat box included.

This is a big failing in Darkfall. Who wants to play the exact same template as everyone else just to be competitive?

daggers will be bad for pvp for the most part, they really only shine rarly for instance in dungons, on ships or when sombodys in a buble.

they still the best pve weapon tho, but pretty much no matter what you need to carry a two handed meele weapon for pvp.

but for roles, something close to mage style thats the best, hopeing whenever it comes that the new armor system will balance it more.

beeing a hybrid archer or meele can still compete but  very good aim is needed, and being destroyer magekiller, is also good but only with support buffs.
