Lets face it, MMOs today are turning into single player console games with a chat box included. |

I would have to agree that Darkfall is still the best MMO which is funny because I used to hate the game.
- Best mob AI and funnest combat interaction with the most options that race through my head during the fastest gameplay in the MMORPG market. The mob are so sophisticated that often I wonder if GMs are controlling them because they do sometimes.
- Exploration that never ends. Content keeps coming out before I come anywhere close to seeing everything out there (I do not play all day every day obviously . .. probably more like 2-5 hours every 2 days).
- Most engaging combat in the market. No other game has brought me to the edge of my seat as often. It is the most difficult that I have found in the market, especially as a casual player. I like to be challenged.
- Biggest adrenaline rush by far when most games do not provide any at all. This is because of the fastest-paced combat combined with risk vs reward. No other game can provide a bigger adrenaline rush because there is nothing to lose when you die in most games or the combat is not as fast.
- Provides the most emotions overall. One character per account. You become known for your actions. The emotional highs and lows are extreme. The reason that you do not feel this in other MMOs is because when your character suffers in most games you do not feel it and probably do not care much.
- Most useful crafting. Even though I hated the crafting at first because of how difficult it is to make money in the market as a crafter I find myself more thankful that I started crafting in this game more than I have in any other. NEWS FLASH! A bank was robbed the other day and a man opened fire on the customers being held hostage. One customer zig-zag sprinted until he found cover. When questioned later he explained that he was a hardcore Darkfall Online player and knew just what to do. |

Bahhahaha this thread is great. I'm glad I made it. It really brings out all the haters. I love how everyone here dissing the game either hasn't played it at all or played it two years ago for an hour. So I should just play Rift for an hour and then go on the forums and say how bad the game is, right? Because it is a really fucking terrible game. Let's speak FACTS now shall we? If you're looking for a challenging game, then Darkfall is the best you can get in the mmorpg genre. If you're looking for a game of economics, then go play EVE. It is a completely different game and actually most EVE players like Darkfall. Go figure. If you like to click and press 1, 2, 3, 4, then go play wow or warhammer or rift or gods & heroes or whatever else tab clicking mmorpgs are out there. They are completely different games as well. But when it comes down to an actual game that requires REAL SKILL, strategy, reaction, listening, aiming, etc. etc. Darkfall is clearly the best mmorpg on the market. No game comes close at the moment. These are the FACTS and no one has yet to make any good arguments. Just a bunch of haters talking shit about a game they have never played. You don't see me dissing your game so don't come over here and spread your bull. I'm just speaking the FACTS and I'm sorry you can't accept them. |

Originally posted by oscarkool2 No fact has been mentionned in any of your post in this thread. Why? Because the definition of the "best MMO" is purely subjective, an opinion, which is worth as much as someone claiming that WoW is the best MMO. Neither are wrong, but both omit to add the rest of the setence "in my opinion". But I'll bite. As I've mentionned several time, I've played for almost 2 years (played from EU Launch to late Sept.2010) have a maxed character and 2 alts account (one of which was mainly used to farm, while the other was for me to start over from scratch after the new player patch was added). If anything, DarkFall is far from a challenging game. It's a game about numbers, which means it's just as challenging as your typical tab-targetting MMORPG. I LOVE challenges, but the fact that I'm able to win 1vs10 battles without trying is NOT what I call a challenge. The game requires little player skill. Hell, there are many encounters where I should've died, I litteraly played like a feet while my opponent would completly outplay me, but because of my superior numbers I can still win, and that makes me just as angry as the guy I just killed. I want to die, not because of numbers, but because someone was clearly stronger than me, and DarkFall does not offer such opportunity, which is why DarkFall is far from requiring real player-skill. Strategy is also not important. Players can jump into battles and get out easily through Bunnyhopping. Players don't really think through either, they just zerg charge or run. There is, compared to Launch, very little strategy and tactics involved, mainly caused by the various carebear mechanics that AV has failed to remove (Even in WoW you can die from Fall Damage, why can't you in DarkFall?). On the subject of economics, as a sandbox MMORPG, an economy is VERY IMPORTANT. Otherwise your MMORPG is no better than an Arena/Quake with Grind. Economy generates player interaction, generates a wider array of activities for players to partake in, it makes the gold circulate around the community, etc. Don't forget that we're talking about an MMORPG. If you forget about the RPG part, than DarkFall is no better than Call Of Duty, except without achievements. Best PvP in an MMORPG? Planetside wins hands down. Why? Because I said so and it's an opinion. My opinion is worth just as much as yours, which is to say that there's no point in debating which is better because there is no real answer. But no matter, chances are you'll read this post with your eyes closed, denying all arguments and then turn around and say that no one has provided any good argument and that we're all a bunch of haters talking shit, or so you say. There's a quote by Tim Minchin which I really like: "Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved." Definitively applies here. ------ |

I think I registered to these forums because the same people kept trash talking this awesome game that I have been having fun with along with my friends but nobody cares about the forums. NEWS FLASH! Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but not their own facts. |

You need to learn your own way in darkfall and that don't apply to masses.. simple is that..
Most people who try it quit in 2/3 days because they don't know what to do
This thread is indeed good but the players who are dissing this game don't understand anything about darkfall as same as above poster said. You either tried the game 2 years ago for 3/4 hours or are just a forum spammer and dissing games..
for all the people who wanne try something new instead of point(tab) click and like player skilled pvp this is really your game send me a pm on mmorpg and i will help you out in darkfall |

The whole "Best MMO" thing is kinda pointless, it is either based on personal opinion that differs or on stuff like subscription numbers. Saying that DFO (or any other game) is the best because you prefer it is as wrong as saying Wow is the best because it have more players. We could get a few actual numbers, like polygon count and similar to get a few actual numbers but judging which game is best on numbers like that isn't good either. This discussion is pointless, OP should have said "I prefer DFO" instead of saying that it is best. Which game is best differs from who you ask. |

Originally posted by oscarkool2 I agree, FPS combat is more fun than the typical auto-aim button smashing. However: no other MMORPG but Darkfall has it? If you really think so, you haven't played many MMORPGs. Let's play Fallen Earth (from launch to present) |

Generally I'd say it doesn't matter too much when you compare subscription numbers in MMO;s, But when you have a game that continues to make changes in their game and still can't draw people in, they are obviously not doing something right. When your game is struggling even more now than it was a year ago to stay alive, something isn't going the way you wanted it to.
Here's what I can say about Darkfall. It is the best high fantasy, sandbox, FPS, Full loot/FFA MMORPG on the market. That is my opinion. And yes, Mortal Online is pretty much the only competition it has. So here I do agree with the OP.
I do not believe however that Darkfall is the best MMORPG on the market. If Darkfall was a better game, more people would be playing. I can go through and list all the problems with it, but it really wouldn't matter. If anyone here feels that Darkfall is the best ever, then all I can say is congratulations sir. Have fun playing Darkfall, and stop trying to preach to the rest of us. It's simply not working. I don't know if anyone has noticed, but it's gotten to the point where you are almost considered a troll if you even like Darkfall. That's not just being a hater, that's just the vast majority of us here thinking that Darkfall is an epic failure of a sandbox MMO. No offense, that's just how it appears to be from my perspective. |
