Darkfall has almost 17K in unique hits at nearly 8AM EST. Wtf? Aion, the number 2 place has about 2k. DARKFALL HAS 17K HITS. That's weird.

Well, that wouldn't be the first time DFO is involved in shady stuff. It is obvious manipulation, or maybe Tasos is giving away free moussakas to people who access the forums in Greece.

When the game is lacking, you gotta find some other ways to feed the monkey. And I must admit AV is pretty good at that.

But seriously. If you are a bit of a tech guy, it's not hard to create or even download some little program that hits a sertain section of a website over and over and over again to generate hits.

We had that kind of programs in my previous job to run performance tests against our websites and web applications.

You can completely trottle and manipulate these performance programs to generate a sertain amount of hits, with random time intervals. All that kind of stuff.

The same thing happend to the movie "The Dark Knight". It was accused of having used forbidden and secret ways to make people go and see it. Lots of consiracy there to.

Critics the the movie shouted "its just a freaking Batman movie!, no way it can make 900 million dollars without cheating".

so time of day doesn't play much role.

I think it makes perfect sense.  Since more and more people are starting to despise WoW it's logical that these people would look for a game that is its total opposite.

They provide enough new content in them that they can call them expansions especially with them being free.  This is not uncommon throughout the entire MMO industry.  People only make a big deal out of it because they want another reason to rag on this game.  There are many good reasons to rag on this game,  but trolls do not like to stick to honest criticism alone.

Imo, they made a massive profit from DFO.

No advertising, just two servers, tiny dev team. They made shit loads of money just from the initial sales back in Ferbuary.

In my book, Aventurine has succeded in many ways.

But im happy for one thing. They showed the big companies out there that games like DFO can work and will work if you make them properly.

Yes in fact I did. I had looooong forgotten Darkfall and it hasn't even on my mind for months.

Till I saw this topic popping up and I suddenly saw the crazy amount of hits in the popularity section.
