Hey there everyone. I have been playing this game almost non stop since the servers actually worked (I was in beta also, but i only played a bit cuz I couldnt get into a character that was going to get wiped)

I just wanted to say, that I honestly feel that this is the best game that has come out in the past 10 years. I'm sure this thread will be ripped to shreads.. and I'm OK with that. I just decided to post my opinion.  I really dont feel like writing a wall of text to justify it, which I'm sure will be a complaint by some people.

I really dont even know how to quantify why (another thing that will be pointed out by posters below me im sure) But it is unbelievably fun... I am an old school UO player, who has never been able to enjoy an MMO since AC-DT, so I guess I'm your pretty generic darkfall hopeful. If you fall in this group, you will most likely easily understand why darkfall is so fun. I can tell you that because of the world design, it is more immersive than UO ever was. The PVP might not yet be as balanced, but it is crazy fun... I have already had countless experiences that remind me I am in a sandbox. from people jumping me while I'm at half health and getting WTFPWNED by my friends they didnt see.. to my mount getting ninja stolen from some guy that jumped down on it from a tree and rode off into the sunset, and many more

If you have any interest in Darkfall, I just want to suggest that you try it with an open mind. If you are really only interested in the contemporary games that have been released that are similar to World of Warcraft, thats fine. But I would suggest trying it as well. There isnt much of a loss, unless you work at McDonalds and $55 is a lot of money to you, or if you are already truely content with the game you are currently playing.

You can say that the devs are rude, arrogant, and have no understanding of business and I would agree with you. What they do have is an immense passion to create a game that they wanted to play. And it shows just by playing. This game in a few years after an expansion or two will most likely be better than UO ever was. I already am enjoying it almost as much (and UO was my 1st MMO ever so thats just insane). I finnally have that feeling again where I want to play non stop.. I dont want it to ever end. Every morning its hard to go to teh gym and study (I still am doing it, cuz I have more restraint then when i was 14) I thought I would never feel it again.

Anyway, you hear so much crap on this site and many other sites about people who expected it to have game mechanics beyond crysis in an open sandbox MMO... or just wanted it to fail for one reason that I cant understand or another

So give it a try.. you will likely be happy you did.

If you feel bored in any mmorpg, try Darkfall...its simply exciting, fun and raw

About time someone said something to give me a little more confidence about the game.
Still gonna wait it out a month or so, but none the less ill still try it. Although my morale sinks a little deeper with every post kicking the game in the nuts then shiting on its face.

I submitted about 5 bugs just from exploring so I did my part

You know, DF reminds me of AC when it launched. So, I have to agree that Darkfall is the best thing that has come along in a while 

And I love/ed AC!

What you mention is PVP, not sandbox.

I think those that aren't having fun should try to join a clan to be honest.

By FAR the best game I have played in the last 10 years.  Best game I have played since UO. I had alot of fun questing last night with clan mates and made about 1k in a few hours. Some guys tried to steal our loot so we had to kill them .

I agree with OP...I was never really a die hard fan thoughout development of Darkfall but it is a pretty sweet game. I'm enjoying it thoroughly.

I'm glad that you think highly of this game.  Your opinion has been noted, but, unfortunately, I have to disagree.  In my opinion, this is one of the worst launches of a game in MMO history.  Its a niche game, that will probably have a fair amount of players.  I hope it does well, but to say its the best game in the last 10 years, in my opinion, is wrong.

It is as sandbox as you can get nowadays...

So, from your point of view, how bad is the hacking yet? I was all for this game up until I saw the speedhack and read about how easy it is for darkfall to be hacked. I hope that can be fixed, but my knowledge of programming is so infintismally small, that I don't know what I should think at this point about it. (Aside from the fanbois screaming how awesome it is, the haters blasting away at ANYTHING and Raiizen talking about how ps1 the graphics are).

No I'm not going to flame you, your post about you liking Darkfall strikes me as genuine, even thou you didnt discuss in detail why..

I didn't like it at all, sadly !! I have been waiting for so long for something close to Ultima to be released.

But only speaking for myself, I'm not only in it for the PvP, and a world without anything else than PvP isn't a world really. There has to be lore, NPC's, farms with farmers and chickens, tree's that falls when chopped etc etc. Also I feel that there need's to be more skills/professions that isn't about combat.

I have never seen anyone speed hacking. Someone in my clan got reported for speed hacking to a GM(he was not, he just killed 2 players and they cried) and a GM showed up to talk to him not 5 minutes later. They said are you speedhacking yadda yadda yadda, he said no, and they checked the logs to confirm.

So they seem to be on top of it.

I havent seen anyone speed hack personally. Ive probably played about 30 hours since launch. Ive seen the video that everyone has seen, And I'm sure its real, people complain about it in racial alliance chat as well.

From my perspective I dont see it as much of a problem, considering ive never seen it.. I have fraps open  when playing to make a video if I do ever see it, SO i can upload it to youtube and they will get banned.. Today on the forums the DEV's announced instant bans for hacks, no questions asked.. I'm sure that will scare many people from doing it.. cuz people are going to be getting banned shortly I'm sure...
