This is the month. The promise land according to Tasos and Aventurine. The date we all see the release of Darkfall to the open public.

But still no date confirmed???

..Really??

Now I know that they have only been working on this game a small amount of time [insert sarcasm]  but shouldn't they atleast give us a date of release this month, or have the backbone to admit that they are behind schedule and it won't be out until Q2 of 2009 or whatever the case may be.

And to any fans who wanna come explaining to me that they never promised a release by the end of this month.. please simply go back and watch your great 17 minute in game video again.  Not to mention all the quotes taken from Tasos and Aventurine on their guarantee that even several months ago this game was running" feature complete and smoothly".

Based on that, there really isn't many excuses here now are there?

..We've been told that their distributor is ready.  We've been told this game is feature complete and basically bug-free.  We've been told many months ago it is ready for release.

But anyone that doesn't have their DF shirt on and their rose colored glasses on as well knows better I think.  We know that Darkfall isn't releasing to the open public in released form or in open beta to the public form in the next four weeks.  It just ain't gonna happen.

I guess I really don't get after everything that has been promised and after all the broken promises, shady remarks by Aventurine, and after everything that remains a question mark so close to their promised release, how anyone can take anything Aventurine says about this game seriously.  Especially Tasos.  How many times do we have to hear and see his promises broken, and how many excuses do we have to absorb before some of us lose all faith in this game? 

How many times do the fans and onlookers from this website have to be decieved before someone in charge at mmorpg.com takes a serious look at either removing this game from their site, or putting it into maybe a "comedy" or "Coming in 2099" section of this website.

Seriously.. how long will we take anything about this ongoing, never ending "pot at the end of the rainbow" game seriously?  Are we to just keep chasing this end of the rainbow forever as they keep telling us their BS and lies and propoganda?

Who are we fooling?  ..Who are THEY fooling?

Does this really suprise you, the game will not release this year or even early next year. At best it may be Q4 of 2009 before you see an open beta. I may be wrong but then again I may not be.

This hardly counts. I don't even support Darkfall.

I think they should really complete game first and then release.. Without saying any date.

P.S. Why to be so angry at them? They tricked you.. so what? find to play something else or do something else till it is out. So you wont get so nervous and second good thing is that you wont dissapointed in them when (if) game fails.

As much as I want to believe Tasos and Co. I think you're probably right. It's just not ready - and who knows if it ever will be.

Hey, but towards the end of this month, Tasos can just promise another wonderful video coming in a "few weeks" or new screenshots even, and all the fans will forget about their promise of release by the end of 2008 and start drooling again as they wait months on end for the new promised video or screenshots.

And next year they will say everything said or promised this year is "old news" and only the promises and remarks of the mighty Tasos in 2009 now count, lol.

Or maybe Aventurine could just change the name of its company to "Darkvoid, Inc" or something, and then all the fans would be screaming that 'Darkfall has only just begun development in 2009' and that nothing before 2009 counted because that was a different company and even game back in 2000 through 2009!

This games hype and promises and propaganda is actually a lot like the Energizer Bunny ads. It just keeps going and going.. and going. But atleast Energizer actually has delivered something besides hot air to the world. They dont just advertise and hype good batteries, they deliver the goods. Which is a helluva lot more then I could say for "Aventurine" and the mighty Tasos god that lives here with the Df fans.

Yes, we (as you want to call "trolls") would so hate the mmo of our dreams the past ten freaking years to actually release and run great! That would just devastate us!

Come on. The "trolls" as you like to label us here probably would love to see this game succeed even more then even the biggest foaming at the mouth Darkfall fanatics in these threads. The difference is us umm "trolls" actually have something we like to call "logic" and some of us have even been down this same old block before. Some of us might just seen all of this as just more "deja vu" back when games like Mourning and Dark and Light and even Vanguard and Age of Conan were being hyped. We've been down even less ridiculously hyped games that didn't promise near what Darkfall does, and we saw where some of these games with even much bigger budgets, much more respected and known developers, and much bigger resources fail miserably.

But suppose you are right. Suppose that Darkfall does release in the next 30 days and it runs great and is a huge success! WOW! That would blow me away and I'd gladly admit I was wrong, just before I played the game for hours, days, weeks, and months.

But now, suppose that you are wrong. Again, Tasos has lied. If that happens, how much longer are you gonna keep dreaming before you see just how silly you look as you think us ummm "trolls" look silly now?

  Umm now what disaster is it your funny little mind is imagining? Odd how it is that almost no one believes Darkfall will be out this year (even many of the die hard fans don't) but no ones saying "Hey if Darkfall doesn't make its release what a disaster that would for the fans "

  Life goes on. DF is interesting, but in the greater scheme of things release / no release, its just not really that important.

Even you have to admit that they should have given us some more info about the release by now.

It might still launch in time but they have 4 weeks and it ain't looking good right now, they could blogg or something to tell us if they are in time at least.

Still, it is better to move the date then release the game to early.

What the majority of you "realists" are forgetting, is that while you find complaining about this game's problems, "realistic"...your examples of its failure are highly unrealistic...

 Humm sorry howler must have missed something here, Please show where in this thread that us realists posted any examples of Darkfalls failures, which you state are highly unrealistic? If you can't please stop shoving your words in our mouths.

  I did see a fan post something about all the trolls burning and some kind of disaster happening if DF was released this year. The burning and disaster part I find highly unrealistic but I didn't find the people saying that surely Tasos knows by now and could say something if the game wont be released this year unrealistic.

  If you don't like a thread just don't enter it. Stop with the "I'm the high and mighty Howler this thread should be locked and deleted because i say so" attitude. Your just a poster like everyone else here and as such you really shouldn't have anymore rights or pull then anyone else.

  You want a point to this thread (like any thread in this forum really has a point?) Do you or do you not believe that if DF can not be relased in the next 30 days that Tasos doesn't know at this point in time? Assuming it won't be which seems to be the popular opinion even with some of the die hard fans then why shouldn't Tasos say something now? I've been following DF for a loooong time and don't actually remember any promises being broken. 

Closed beta is on-going. They'll release it when the game is FINISHED whether it's 2008 or not. NOW STOP MAKING THESE SHITTY THREADS.

I find it extremely funny that "early December" means December 1st at 4am for trolls and "realists".  I recall WAR having their open beta 2 weeks before release, if that. Do not forget that a game does not NEED you to be in their open beta, you are just used for a stress test.

Personally I don't think the game will be released in December.. more like Q1 2009 (giving them the benefit of the doubt for a December release).  The screenshots show areas that are completed, the games scenery looks polished, we have a 100% gameplay movie showing the combat system in play, we have an in-game movie showing the UI and a couple of other things, we have a review from the Italians, and we have another review coming from the publisher of a comic... I believe a December release is POSSIBLE. 

This is being a "realist", I took the information we were given and gave a possibilty.. saying a game has been in development for 8 years as an argument and then saying it has no possible chance of release is not being "real", it's trolling... unless you've been working on the game for those years and know it's level of completion.

No you're absolutely right.  Aventurine hasn't promised anything.  But they have missed releasing a guild beta and a previous public closed beta prior to the one started recently.

They have also missed their projected 2005 release (there was even an official video that stated "Darkfall Coming 2005" at the end of it.  I believe they also missed another projected release date of 2007, but I don't have that information so I can't be sure.

But you are correct.  No one from Aventurine every said any of these things would actually happen.  Just that they would happen soon, or when they were ready.  But you know what, if I tell my wife that I will take out the garbage "soon", that sure as hell doesn't mean I wait 6 months and the pretend I never said I would do it.
