aventurine is a shady mmo company and letting them continue their shady business tactics is bad for the mmo community. Thier robbing their fans of their time and the fans are in for a big let down. Please mmorpg, get an interview with adventurine and get some kind of progress update or something. If you let this continue, other mmo companies will see what adventurine is doing and they will start treating thier fanbase the same way (rarely any updates, horrible developments times, hardly any concrete info). Please mmo do it for the fans who are in for a huge let down, we need to take care of them so their not to hurt by this game. Thank you in advance.

I started this thread because I'm used to the awsome dev team (Turbine) who created LOTR online. They are the standard for mmo dev teams, their really care about their community and they're always releasing updates. aventurine should take a lesson from Turbine.

I have said for a couple of years that this game is a hoax. I also addressed mmorpg.com at several occassions as to why they want Darkfall to continue when it is clear there is no real development going into this "game".
 

Sadly mmorpg.com has raised the bar very low as to when you can be included in their site.

This game will never release. It is a fake project. The so-called beta is non-existant. Their videos are scripted and their pictures are photoshopped.

It has FAKE written all over it.

It is sad because sandbox lovers like myself have nowhere to cling their hopes these days.

But mmorpg.com has a responsibility and they keep neglecting on that!

I don't really see why they should have to provide any information, stick to deadlines or have any regard for people following the game whatsoever.  It's not even released yet so nobody has paid them any money.

Why should they care about random people on the internet who are not actual customers?  I don't understand this attitude at all.

When it's released if you like the look of it then buy it, until then you should not expect anything.

MMORPG generates it's income from advertising, if there's no Darkfall forum then that means less page hits and less revenue, why would they want that?

Imbant, why would the mods lock this thread, because I'm asking them nicely to ask adventurine whats going on with their game? You might not need proof but most of the other fans do want proof. Well I would certainly be glad to see a concrete, thorough interview done by a credible source such as MMORPG.com, however I do not think Adventurine is on the same page.  They have made it clear that they are working on their own time schedule and will release what they want to release when they want to do it.  Although this dissapoints me because most companies keep their fans clinging to new information, I do not necessarily disagree with their stance.  Sandbox games have a particularly difficult mission these days in the MMO world post-WoW.  They have a lot of stuff going on and they can not get themselves too deep by constantly worrying about PR like the larger companies do such as Mythic, Turbine, SOE, and Blizzard. 

Unfortunately, lack of information is something that we DF fans will have to live with for the time being.  Now if January 1st, 2009 rolls around and we haven't been given any new information from this point, then I wouldn't blaim you to be extremely pissed and give up hope on DF.  However, I anticipate many more to be accepted to beta by then and the game to start actually coming to life.  No I do not believe the game will be released by that date, but it sure would be nice to see.

Let me tell you whats wrong with this, if aventurine starts lowering thier standards (not releasing any info before game release) then other companies will start thinking the same way. Over time the mmo devs will start lowering their standards of how they treat their fans. Look at a company like Turbine, they go above and beyond to keep their fans happy. Would you rather have your devs treating you like garbage (not releasing any new content for years, taking their time fixing bugs, rarely any updates) or would you rather have devs who care about you having a great time playing their game.

I think every fan would agree that if there is no new info by the end of the year...no beta updates...no open beta...no leaks...no explanations....no huge video or big concrete update or explanation of why it isnt releasing in 08.....then we will swallow our pride and admit we were wrong.

luckily i know for a fact that wont happen.  and of course i cant disclose how i know that...

As much as I would love to be proved wrong about Darkfall, I still say that it will be the next Mourning Online/ Dark and Light.

Robbing fans of their time lol??. I could understand people being upset if they actually had taken money for pre-orders and not yet delivered on the promises.  But again they have not asked for a single cent.  As far as progress goes, I would of thought the Athens video was a pretty good indication of how far they have come with the game,  not to mention the 17 min vid.

Yeah, turbine rocks... or not. It is not a great idea to dizz a company that havn't released their first hame yet, do you really think Turbine was so much better before they released their first game?

I'm not impressed by either of the companies, if you want a good company, look on Arenanet but these accusations are useless before A have released their first game.

There is no way you now if they will release updates and take care of their commonuty, they don't have a community yet.

Speculating about DF seems like religion on this site, just wait until it releases and we start talking then. Will I play DF? Don't think so but I don't rule it out completley.

It's not cutting them any slack, you don't have right to complain in the firsts place as you have absolutely no vested interest.

Pr is apart of the budget. aventurine has very little pr. They are a little company with very little money. I won't cut them slack for their lack of pr, you will. You might think give the little company a chance because thier little but me, I could care less if their little with no money, their nothing and they need to prove themselves before I have any respect for them. You have compansion, I don't, thats the way it is.

And yes I have seen this and others like it. But what does it prove? A working 3d engine is not very hard to make - esp. not after spending a decade on this pet project. But what I see is a predominantly empty world and where the combat systems seems to revolve around the toons randomly hitting out towards enemies. The system doesn't appear to be anywhere near beta. It doesn't seem to be near finished for 2009 release or real beta.

So I can't see what this proves?

If this game ever see the light of day it will never be able to contain all those features they promised. There is no proof out there. And Aventurine doesn't seem like a real development company.

I have to say it is a hoax even if this is not what you want to hear.
