A call to all PVE and casual players!!! When the devs of this mmo, created a huge open world with no loading zones no instance, no tracking at all they had a vision:). We want pvp and pve to have fun again in this game:) Chat is limited to zones only and no little radar right hand corner, no names above your head no stats to see by other players. At first you think this will be one big gankfest and no life for casuals and pve oriented players who dont like to pvp alot. Well this game is made for 70% pve why becouse your rather save in a pk oriented game sounds strange ain't it:P, nobody can track you down, they realy have to be up close to see who you are or what gear you have by looking at you and they cant see you on the map or some list where you are, no portal systems and main towns are rather save to be in town you can almost call them savezones guards will instantly kill you if you try kill another player. Also a alignment system in Darkfall, so again a savety featers to help pve players. Darkfall have alot of freedom to play whatever you want its a hardcore pve game for crafters, socializing casual pve solo play. Dont wurry about lvls there none its skill based this game dont need to be played 24/7 to be uber its also not item based so no countless hours for farming or raiding for gear. The core game is hardcore open pvp with full loot but your so very protected by many gameplay maganics its not so hard to play it for you pve oriented players. This game is to have FUN AGAIN for both equally PVE and PVE, dont listend to all thos pk gankers, they dont understand the game. ALL play Darkfall if you like pve its perfect game for it. Dont get me wrong it have hardcore pvp but if you just take your time and learn about game how it works you will see thats not hard to be a none pvper in Darkfall. I hope i will see all who wanne play a game thats beautifull with enormous world to explore thats 100% sandbox and cater for both pvp and pve. Cya ingame also many ANTI players there to protect you so COME ONE play Darkfall dont let pk scare you off. |

from just the first few sentences (couldn't make out anymore -- written horribly and confusingly), the game your describing sounds horrid. Let's hope it never makes the light of day, even if it is Darkfall your talking about. |

Originally posted by Evasia I'm playing devil's advocate here, because I don't think it's going to help the game one bit to try and draw in tons of PvE players who don't like to PvP. In the end, the devs will probably cater to the majority (complaining about being ganked) and change the game vastly to get more subscribers. Same happened to UO. They introduced Trammel and from then on, the PvP was dead pretty much.

I've dabbled with PvP and did like it (a bit), but I'd NEVER play a game where I'm FORCED to PvP. I'd never play any game where another player could dictate what I could or couldn't do. |

Originally posted by Evasia Except that's pretty much the core of any PVE experience. Anyone want to buy the fifteen thousand not any better than any other daggers I made? How about we go grind some mobs pointlessly even though our skills are maxed and there's nothing else to be gained? I guess we could sink all our gold into a big castle or ship for the PvP guys to knock down since there's nothing else to spend it on. |

I agree partly with op. I played L2 which has ffapvp and I really wasn't ganked daily.. Just because you can pvp everywhere it doesn't mean everyone want to pvp all the time. I think there will be a lot of players in Darkfall which will be scared to attack other players, afterall if you loose you will drop all equipment. |

Nostalgia is bad. |
I see that Darkfall obsessives are now posting threads in general without Darkfall in the heading hoping to avoid being moved to the DF forum where it belongs. |

I tend to fall on this side of the argument as I'm not much into "forced" pvp I prefer pve gameplay but can recall a few games where open pvp was available and do have to say it does add an element of adventure to be out knowing that you can and sometimes do get ganked, I would not be horribly put off unless it turned out to be much like the later less pvp oriented games where pvpers basically forced pvp on the general population such as in WoW early on. I'm not saying that there aren't people who play with the intention to never touch a weapon but let's be honest here, even in real life we don't have as much control over those kinds of things as we would like to have. In regards to op I hope most of what you are trying to say does come to pass but I think you are making it sound a bit too rosey if you think that alot of basic mmo elements are going to be eliminated by this game. Such as not being level based I don't know the system they use but assure you regardless of how they try to describe it you will in fact level your abilities somehow the level may not attach to your avatar as a whole but it will to either his skills, weapons, equipment etc. Which regardless of how people complain makes sense because it is in fact the way of the "real world" you level your skills, I don't care what you do in life you get better at repeating it as well as taking on other activities that put you in a better position to succeed. Like a pitcher who in fact probably does a lot more weight training than the average person and then they still have to pitch countless times to be good enough to be in the majors, I could go on with more less glamorous examples but I'm sure you get my point now. I stated earlier I do miss the times when the threat of open pvp was real and controlled so I'll give this game a try but at the end of the day be aware that until this game releases no one knows what it will play like nor how things will play out competition could easliy force this game one way or another *shrugs* what I can say is from what they seem to be attempting to offer as far as the openess of gameplay I will certainly give this game a try and commend them for trying to make a game like this which I wish more people did. |

Ok at some point your right here, but compare UO to Darkfall is a little unjust to what Darkfall so much more have as a game to offer then UO. But its a game that have alot more savety build in then most realise, its if you not that fragile a good game to play as pve or solo. And ive stated enough that it is a hardcore pvp first, but with no radar, no names above head aligment system save main citys and huge world with no traking what so ever its very good playable for pve/crafters and that kind of players. |

In themepark games youre in the claws of the developers. Totally. You get spoonfed and have just about no player freedom. Its all dictated from the beginning which road you have to take. Talk about being controlled by others. That kind of game i will never play again. In sandbox games you make your own future. Total freedom. You're your own master, follow your instincts and become whatever you want. No restrictions. Totally agree with the OP. Darkfall will be awsome for PvE and casual players. Also superb for RP.
