We have to constantly hear about how games are not being targeted to more hardcore pvp players. There is finally a game that is targeted toward hardcore pvp players.

To that end there are so many games that you can play that have decent pve content.

I'm most likely mistaken, but I think the OP was rather clumsily trying to get across that he really likes the ideas behind Darkfall and wishes that there was another game that encompassed them, but in a less 'risky' environment.

Regardless of everything, I'd personally like to see the documented features in a sci-fi setting, but without player looting.

I'm not going to try and get Darkfall changed though. lol

Instead of starting a useless petition why don't you stop considering this game and look for another cookie cutter game where your gear and level determine your quality?

Without full loot it would no longer be darkfall.

As has been said full loot works fine (Eve Online) - you have to modify your play style is all.

Rather than having every last economic unit spent on 3 optimum gearings you treat your belongings as you should - as scarce resources that you could lose at any moment. You save. You don't take out and risk what you can't lose. You have to think about what you are doing. Ooops the last one is the real kick in the nads, huh - yeah this is not for someone who wants to be a drone in front of the screen thinking is going to be involved in this game, sorry.

Everything you do in a FFA/full loot is a critical tactical decsision.

EVE Online doesn't have full loot. It has insurance, clones and you don't get the enemy players intact ship. 

It's a bit late to be trying to change Darkfalls focus. Let them play it out their way. 

Even sandboxes have fundamental rules such as; "Don't eat the cat poop, you'll die."

Clones save skill, not gear you lose all implants(and have to be killed twice).

With the exception of a few "insurance fraud" ships like Caldari cruisers net insurance won't replace the ship fully and no hope for recovering module costs which can be significantly in excess of ship costs.

You lose everything you have with you when you die in Eve - which is essentially full loot to the one who does the dying.

They have mechanics around it suited to Eve but if you undocked wrong it can be very painful and you learn.

That is the case even if the victor doesn't get everything you have and only what is left.

The biggest problem you have here is that you are assosiating the in-game cost of uber loot in games like WoW were you can never loose it. Items will not cost as much cash here due to the high turn-over rate.

 

I remember UO, you could literally walk in any direction, and find player vendors selling useful gear for dirt cheap.  Games like this are not loot-oriented. It is gameplay oriented, meaning that your motivation for playing isnt to raid for some uber chest armor, is to raid for the fun of raiding. Yes, it sucks to loose your gear to a PK, but its a LOt more gratifying to have some jerk attack you, and you kill him...then you an take HIs stuff...muhahaha Karma

Hard earned equipment meaning does not exist in DF . Have u even tried to read the DF features???

IT IS A SKILLED PROGRESSION CHARACTER GAME AND NOT MUCH GEAR PROGRESSION GAME!!!

Your curent lvl does NOT depend on the lvl of your items like it happens in wow for example.

How strong is your character = 80% how smart is your skill/talent build + how skilled you are in manual combat and only 20% how good is your gear...

Just exactly as it should be. Skill vs gear and quality vs quantity ^^


 

 

I agree with this! To explain it to the OP in a very easy way, it means. I could take you on in a pvp situation in my underware and and you could have have all the top notch gear and i still could beat you, due to me knowing how to play my toon and the particular skills i have.

Insurance softens the blow.  You don't lose everything.

Clones soften the blow. You don't lose everything

Your ship gets destroyed and some, at times most, of it can't be recovered.  I don't get eveything.

That's not full loot. Full loot is you lose everything and I can get it.  Darkfall is full loot. Everything you're carrying and wearing  drops and the victor can get it. No insurace, no chance of it not dropping, no bound items. Full loot.

Player looting??!!

Thanks for your post. I haven't looked at Darkfall for ages but thanks to your post this game got my full attention now.

Player looting = better risk-reward balance = meaningfull PVP

PVP the the way it should be!!

I am for player looting but full-loot? Hmmmm... that will just make people carry garbage equipment because one thing is guaranteed in FFA PvP games. You... willl.... die.... and you will die repeteadly. Thats a constant.

So making people lose ALL their stuff? Thats a misstake. Should be like AC 1 where you lost a fraction of your most valuable stuff and the higher level you are, the larger that fraction was. That made death hurt, but wasnt devestating (like in Eve).

There is the Problem? If you'r gear you are about to wear only have some "little" enhancments? and also it is easy to get a new one?

I see at this point really NO PROBLEM.... and belive me.... the Developers keep there way up, this is one of the features i love about Darkfall. The Developers do not encounder a big "sorry we will change" session after some petition, they wait and say "hey ... let them try first."

If a change is really needed we will get one, later !
