To Start.. I've played several MMORPG.  When I first started playing, I thought they were actually ROLE PLAYING GAMES.  Sort of like playing out a character with a visual representation.  Like a MuDD but with graphics.  What they have turned into is L33t Kiddy fests full of little brats that have too much free time.  I'm looking forward to WAR because it's a PvP game that will be fun, probably full of little brats (that I don't have to talk to, or hear from), and team centered.

When I first read about Vanguard, I was excited. I saw a game where I can finally play a character in a world.  Take part, you know, be a merchant if I want, maybe just be a crafter.  But Vanguard was an epic fail.

So, what I want from Darkfall.

Open world.

No forced grouping

Epic quests (one of my favorite quests in any game is Frore in AC, you go to an ice area,  you get a blue robe, an ice hammer, and an Ice blue Heume with a few spells)

Combat NOT required.

PvP with purpose.  I want RPK (random player killers) to be punished.  I'm all for guild v guild fights. But if I set up a shop in town, let me role play a merchant, with little fear of being killed.

Skill set that isn't locked into place.  If I want to have dagger/fire magic skills, LET ME HAVE THEM.  No more mage/rogue/warrior/priest BS.  Let me pick a few skill sets and play them, ALA AC.

Please put the R(ole)P(laying) back in MMORPG. I want a game that reflects an actual society from which the game takes place.  There are plenty of other games full of l33t kids for you to play with, lets let the adults have one.. eh?

Currently playing Real Life..
Played:
AC, AC2, WoW, AO, AoC, Lineage 2, COH, COV, VG. WAR..

Want Darkfall now!
Caution: Game May Cause Care Bears To Populate Forums

One thing i really like with sanbox MMOs is that you will be known for how you "act". And that reputation will lead to much "real" roleplaying. Since you have to back everything up in Darkfall, you cant talk so much BS eaither.

The "combat not required", maybe is a hard thing for many to understand in a FFA PvP MMO. But thats 100% possible. Even i want to try some "professions" that not includes awful much of combat. Academic, and diplomatic professions for example.

Just remember that it's a game based around pvp. It's fine if you want to roleplay a merchant in a town as long as you can roleplay a dieing merchant that gets torched when and enemy guild comes to take your town or a single player decides your prices are too high and stabs you in the face. You can then RP a dead toon and move your business elsewhere as a refuge. do not be afraind of what DF offers as you can be or do anything you want in game.

It's just a game anyways, and it lets you have the freedom to do whatever you want!

Open world.

Darkfall is HUGE, perhaps the largest MMO world to date.

No forced grouping

It's a sandbox so you can go solo if you like but obviously there is safety in numbers.

Epic quests (one of my favorite quests in any game is Frore in AC, you go to an ice area,  you get a blue robe, an ice hammer, and an Ice blue Heume with a few spells)

Because of the nature of the full loot system, you're not going to see the raid type gear in Darkfall. There might be some magical drops from big bosses but that's about it...at least for now.

Combat NOT required.

If you want to be a full time crafter or something similar, you can do that. There are no rules in this open world.

PvP with purpose.  I want RPK (random player killers) to be punished.  I'm all for guild v guild fights. But if I set up a shop in town, let me role play a merchant, with little fear of being killed.

PKers will be punished if they kill "innocent" people. However, there's always the risk of being attacked no matter how safe the place might be. There will be city raids but the main NPC cities should be very safe.

Skill set that isn't locked into place.  If I want to have dagger/fire magic skills, LET ME HAVE THEM.  No more mage/rogue/warrior/priest BS.  Let me pick a few skill sets and play them, ALA AC.

You can train up any skills you like and if you end up not liking those, train up some others. It's skill system is similar to UO/SWG.

Please put the R(ole)P(laying) back in MMORPG. I want a game that reflects an actual society from which the game takes place.  There are plenty of other games full of l33t kids for you to play with, lets let the adults have one.. eh?

I hear ya although there will be plenty of those types in Darkfall, I'm afraid it's difficult to get away from that in MMOs these days. However, I do believe Darkfall will cater to a more mature audience because most of the younger kids have grown up on WoW where as us old timers grew up on UO and SWG. But we'll just have to wait and see, perhaps (crosses fingers) there will be a RP server.

But at any rate, sign up for beta and we'll get to check it out soon.

I've signed up.

I've also signed my guild up.

As much fun as WAR will be, I'm looking forward to a game where I can have my own adventure (like a book!)

I feel the same way. I'll probably play WAR for awhile until if/when I get into Darkfall beta. In the long run, Darkfall has more of what I'm looking for in a game and will hold my interest longer. I desperately want to get that UO feeling back again and Darkfall is as good as it gets.

Yup WAR will be a great game...but it won't be 1/2 as fulfilling as DF can "potentially" be if it delivers.  Those of us that are bored of the same old gameplay will flock to DF instead of WAR just because it is a change of pace and offers us opportunities to make a real mark on the world and really carve our own path.

I know of multiple guilds, mine included, who were all geared up for WAR and planning races, classes, leadership structures etc...then when DF came through with its 17min trailer and beta signups...it was pretty clear that almost everyone now wants to wait and see what DF will do.  Some will still play WAR as just a filler because they need their MMO fix, but most share the feeling that WAR will be there if DF doesnt work.

I will be playing WAR (hopefully, I'll be playing it longer than AoC.. which was less than month YUCK).

It's part about carving out your own 'niche' or place.. or your bath.  Eventually, I'm sure there'll be a 'way to do this and that' as well as established templates.. but I want to take part in the world.  Being able to shape the landscape through town building and the like (anyone remember AO cities??.. useless but still..) I want my guild to have an area where other players come into to shop, or raid, or what, but I want to feel like their is a story, and that I'm not waiting for the climax, but actually making it happen.  Sort of like Darktide back in the day.  The players made the story more than the Devs (although the shadow invasion was one of the best ARCs of any game yet)

I thought AoC might have this in some capacity, but it ended up being a POS game (I don't care if you still play it, it's a POS). I'm tired of instanced repeatable content AKA WoW, I'm tired of dated game play, useless quests or outdated quests, still plaguing AC.

Please, make DARKFALL a game that involves and is shaped by the players.  Give us a WORLD to explore.. with other people!

Okay.. no more whining..

It really only showed combat.

I did like the storyesque feel of it though.
