Very nice.

It looks workable, maybe even great.

I'm still very skeptical that this small team can pull off all this and have a smooth running, pretty much bug-free game when it finally launches.

I'm haunted by a game called "Dark and Light" mostly that honestly had me excited for years about a great new 'outside the box' mmo made by a small team. When I was accepted into their beta called "First Settlers of Ganereth" or something like that.. I was pretty excited. I remember looking on ebay and seeing the accounts for this beta pass being sold for over $300, so I seriously thought about selling mine as well.. as our new family after just getting married could have REALLY used that kinda money. But I held onto the dream that was "Dark and Light", and when it I finally got a chance to log into it.. oh man. Choppy framerates, lag galore, and unbelievable bugs that had me walking in the sky, flipping upside down just trying to walk, mobs attacking from the air like a jet airplane out of thin air... it was such a nightmare.

I'll allow a game like this more bugs then I would say a new mmo release from a big developer like Turbine or Mythic, even with all their development time. But I will be one of the first to throw this game into the fires of "another overly hyped POS game" if it brings back any of the kinds of ghosts at that "Dark and Light" nightmare.

First, it has to actually release people. - and then it needs to "work".

And this game is still Vaporware until it does. I'm not saying and have NEVER meant that I don't think they are working on "SOMETHING". But read the definitions of vaporware closely.

If, when the game releases and it is even halfway playable with most of its promised features working as well, then it will blow me away, because I am still very, very suspicious of this game being just another "Dark and Light" - or possibly even worse.

Yes, I was impressed with the videos when watched from the 600 MB download. But it takes MUCH more then a video to convince me and turn away the hauntings of previous experience here.

Darkfall 2008 --> If you want a sandbox game that challenges you, check it out

Zaxtor,

Just want to take the time to commend you again for your 180 and also apologize again for doubting your character.

You are now one of my more favorite posters because you actually bring legit and intelligent conversation to this forum.  Especially because you are still skeptical about the game, and it gives us something to debate without turning in to nonsense drama with no facts.

Wish some of the others would follow in your footsteps.

Ok now that i said all that touchy feely nonsense, im going to crawl out of your butt and make an ontopic comment.  =)

The few UI shots we saw in the video, and now in the screens, was plenty for me.  The one thing that i do love is that it has been stated that the UI will be VERY minimal.  I am a huge immersion guy when it comes to MMOs.  It is the number 1 quality i look for in a mmo, and the small UI helps that a lot.

We know they have a lot of work to do but they seem convinced they have the framework they just need to fill it with content. A lot of us got burnt by D&L and a few other games that haven't recently delivered. I just hope they can deliover so we all get to play something good.

I found an example of a UI shot from 2006. It seems to look very much like what we saw in the video.

You got a menu in the upper left. Items and bags seems to be like Oblivion and there are a paperdoll where I assume you can drag n' drop items. You have a simple spell summary with showing of about 7 different spell types. If you look at the slider it seems to be space for about 4-5 more.

Some are some interesting items of note besides the usual stuff like armmor and weapons. There is a mask there. Some kind of disguise kit ? Down to the left is a golden ship. Maybe a ship icon/totem ?

why do humans build, because it isn''t there

Glance at wurmonline to see what a 2 man programmer team(now 5 or 6) and a web designer can pull off by working it as a hobby game.

The main reason a MMO fails is from mismangement and overconfidence. Even if you are running an IT infratstrucure that rivals a decent sized bussiness IT architure and a normal games content/graphics architecture.

Why are you even bothering saying that?  Do you honestly believe they understand?  You're dealing with a community of people who thinks that one video is equivalent to proof that the game will be released and be good.  They don't actually agree with anything you say, and looking at the replies to your post, most of them didn't actually really read the fine parts of it.

To them, you're just a symbol of their hated enemies eating crow.

Actually if you bothered to read..

Zaxtor is actually one of the few posters that has recently added legit conversation to these forums.

"They" agree with plenty he has to stay, and i fully agree with his stance about this game has a long way to go before it is a sucess.  I am terrified about their ability to keep a stable server on launch because they are so new.

So before you post next time, try reading first.  We dont think the video is proof of everything, but it certainly silents all those critics that thought the game wasnt even being worked on and it was a scam to get money.

It would be like me generalizing and assuming you fall into the category of people who just hate this game because they are jealous of how excited we fans are about a game we love.  That is the point right?  Enjoying MMOs and hoping we get some good ones?  Faith isnt a bad thing...maybe you shold take a step back and think about that.

And those screen-captures from the video are very low quality too...

I don't understand these UI complaints, UIs are the easiest part of the whole game to code, developers are able to make extensive use of 3rd party libraries and lean on the graphic guys for the spell/skill icons and the UI practically writes itself...

The other thing is, there's plenty of info on the Darkfall UI... not *every* part of the UI, but who cares? As long as it's functional...

Lastly, the Darkfall UI is minimalistic and aimed at enhancing realism and immersion, so even in mid-battle, you still only have a small  skill-bar  and the targeting/action reticle, instead of other UIs like WOW where 30-50% of the screen is taken up with various UI windows and flashing icons.

They just search for something to complain on now when they (trolls) realized the old vaporware BS dont work anymore.

Nothing to take seriously.

Just wanted to point out, you are the biggest "troll hunter" this forum has now. You dont add value to conversation, you just look for "trolls" to hunt down and burn at the stake. You're like a religious person that believes you have to burn any nonbelievers to the stake if they disagree.
