You obviously haven't played many games SOE has published.  The game doesn't have to be GOOD for them to publish it. 

In all actuality though I've been waiting for someone else to pick up Darkfall if Adventurine doesn't go through with it.  SOE of course was my first bet, and I wouldn't care whether or not SOE picked it up as long as the game launched.

Was there another call to arms in the official DF forums to "hype" the game again on external sites? They seem to do that about every year this time.

You have no more clue about this game then anyone else. To flame bait like you are is pointless and makes you just as bad as the "vaportrolls". The game may release this year, or it may not. The game might be good, or it might not.

The simple truth is no one knows. I am betting that when it does release it will be in a similar state as Shadowbane was and likely suffer the same life cycle. People flame Tasos and the game constantly because the concept is fantastic, but the implementation has been flawed from the start. You can claim that no "official" date has been missed, but that only speaks to the vagueness in what Tasos writes. Tasos has implied countless times over the years of beta, release, and the second coming of christ that is DF.

If the movie fails to come out in 10 days, will you post an apology? I think not. Sadly not many people are man enough here to take responsibility for what they say.

Actually, the way I see it is that if SOE doesn't want to pick up Darkfall there must be something really wrong.   I don't really care if the game launches or not but it would be nice to have something concrete not words that blow in the wind.

Dude, you're talking about SOE. They're a sad excuse for a MMO developer. If you go to the EQ II, Matrix Online or Vanguard forums here(all SOE games) you'll see there's a stickied "Official We're Angry at SOE thread" in every one of them.

Agreed that if SOE doesn't want to pick it up it will be either A) they believe theres no money in that market B) they think it will take too much money to fix it or C) they realise they can't keep trying to fix games to make money.

The only way I see SOE, or any other publisher for that matter, picking up this game at this point is if Darkfall goes belly up, doesn't have the cash or the inclination to finish the game, or sells it off because they're sick of the development cycle.

So far Adventurine looks like they'd rather spend years in development then to sell it off to a big name company.  Can't argue there, cause SOE isn't exactly known for their excellent games, but then again, without doing it they could be in a perpetual development cycle.  Develop for 5 years, examine the new market, revamp the design, develop for 5 years.  ... we'll see.

Please don't try and a compare a company that has tons of products out on the market making them tons of money to a company that does not even have 1 and has never produced anything before.

It just makes you look foolish.

uhm no I am just saying it like it is. Darkfall is nowhere remotely good enough to be bought or published by a company like SOE. Don't you get it? It's a C grade piece of software at best.

They can't even get a real video game publisher for christs sake and have to try and deal with some DVD distribution company to get their stuff out.

They can't even get their stuff on Direct2Drive because it isnt good enough. Ask yourself this --- if they're so hung up on controlling their product (which is nother reason they will fail)  --- then why do they not simply go direct2download?

Simple solution.. throw it up on Direct2Drive and instantly all publishing and distribution problems are solved. But they don't..  Wonder why?

For one, noone is comparing SOE to Adventurine, we are conversing about whether SOE would buy Darkfall, so you obviously misunderstood that.  Second, you don't know if Darkfall is a crappy game or not because you haven't played it.  Next there are tons of games that aren't on Direct2Drive, many small games that are actually good that many people haven't heard of. 

So just because it isn't on any big-name sites, does that mean its a crappy game?  No it doesn't.  Why don't they go with a big publisher?  Who knows... but I know you sure don't know any better then I do.  You can guess it's because the game is bad.. I can guess its because they got a better publishing deal from this other company.  You still come off as aggressive and rude, like you're trying to make people feel bad because they want to see Darkfall release.  You really need to calm down.  Adventurine will do whatever adventurine will do... your words won't stop them, or anyone else from believing what they want.

That wasn't written by a Darkfall dev. Link me a quote written by a Darkfall dev that gives an OFFICIAL release date. There isn't one, because they've never given an official release date until now.

that article is not legit, they have always posted what information is given on a game whether it is fact or not...so that being said...2003 was one of their release dates and I know for a FACT that they posted that since I too was following the game at the time...and I am sure there are a few people on these forums that know that as well since its been talked about many, many times...no its not a fail...IGN is legit in all info they present to the readers.

Doesn't count unless the company making the game announcement a release. which they didn't.... unless you can provide a link from an Aventurine (or Razorwax) employee announcing an official release date.... which you can't.
