ok then lets take a look at a 2008 one shall we? What the hell is this supposed to be? Look at the tree models. LOL!!! Look at the horrid texture work. The terrible color pallette. This is NOT professional graphics work. Asheron's Call 2 which was released in 2002 had completely superior graphics to what Darkfall has right now. That's how bad it is.
There's an Asheron's Call 2 picture for you. World of Warcraft wasn't exactly a graphical masterpiece, not even the year it was released. Does that tell something about the importance of graphics? |

Originally posted by lotharr Look, there is a big difference. It's called audience. World of Warcraft's graphics ARE good, if you consider the audience. They want a cartoon-ish world, that is easy to adopt. They want even children, with old hardware, to be able to play their game. They want them to feel at home. So a low-poly, carton-ish textures, was EXACTLY what they needed and it suits their needs.
But Darkfall is a VERY different game. It aims at hardcore pvp'ers, who usually has high-end hardware. The fact that Darkfall tries to look nice, but with very low-poly models, is doomed to failure before they even try. They are trying to reach a wide audience, in terms of hardware, yet they try think they can make us think it's top-cool graphics. It just ain't happening. |

Everytime MMO gamers complain about less than cutting edge graphics they're telling developers they want more instancing. If you don't understand why that is please take the time to educate yourself. |

Wow, this is great, the trees look really realistic, the closest tree to the camera is almost photorealistic. Much much nicer than both WOW and Warhammer.

Sigh...the graphics in DF are fine. All you metros should be concentrating on the game play. Assuming there is any.

Also, AoC is based on a year 2000 engine (the same core as for AO), and does not yet support DX10 either.
No wonder you're confused.
In terms of actual gameplay videos and screens, the DF and AoC graphics are very comparable, and both are a lot better than WOW and Warhammer. Shame that AoC's graphic don't live up to the gameplay...

It takes a lot of money to run servers. Ones in the US are going to require personell. It's not as easy as simply setting up servers and putting the game up for digital distribution. I imagine they have a lot of things that would need to be worked out in a distribution deal, making it much harder then if they were located here in the US. Regardless, knowing that they are preparing the infrastructure for a EU release is reassuring. Why some of you want this game to be vapor ware more then you want it released is simply beyond me. Seems a rather retarded line of thinking if you ask me. |

Yes. And I don't like how it causes threads about people reviewing the game to be locked either. In fact, it kinda pisses me off. I think Trey Parker and Matt Stone described the feeling pretty epicly with their assholes/dicks/pussies analogy. |
