Oh, are people here ranting about the missing UI? First of all, UI is on the list of easiest things to do in an MMO, so I wouldn't personally worry about that, if they've managed to give us 3D videos and pictures. Second, many games have a button for disabling the UI for screenshot and video purposes. Why wouldn't the devs use it, unless they're trying to show the UI to us specifically? Before people jump on me, be aware that I myself do not think that Aventurine (Tasos) is doing the PR very well. It could be done a hell of a lot better. |

Aventurine isn't Razorwax? Is that what you just said? Is there something wrong with the way you process information? Razorwax WERE and ARE the SAME EXACT PEOPLE who formed Aventurine. The same exact people. They simply formed a new company (sort of like changing your name) and moved to Greece. While technically it IS a different company, it is in essense the SAME. You can't see that? |

Its' so amusing how all the MMO kiddies think this Darkfall will be the best thing since sliced bread, despite it only ever being a bunch of idea concepts preached at them. These kids are getting hyped up over nothing, because idea's are easy. It's putting them in to practice that the hard part, and it appears Darkfall hasn't even got to the hard part yet. I can tell you now MMO kiddies, the so called concepts of the game being preached to you will not translate to that vision in practice, it never does. Just wait and see. |

We are not talking about if DF will be a good game or not, we are talking about if DF is vaporware or not. So bringing up Dark and Light or WoW or whatever crappy MMO dont change our subject here, Thank you. |

Aye, and you are a Oracle... But put away your tarrotcards for a moment, go and read the featurelist of Darkfall and tell us whats so bad about it? It's not the game Darkfall itself doing the hype it's a game doing a spinoff and offers us gameplay we want. If it was some other developers and a difference name I've wont care. So mr.1337 MMOplayer go away now. You might be a bigger man in some onlinegame. But here, your just a little kitten. |

What I would like to discuss is the need to attack people who are excited by the features this game offers. Even if this game never releases hopefully the buzz and passion some people feel for the feature list will help spawn another game. And who is to say that all the interest in this game. Is not the main reason titles such as Mortal decided there was indeed a viable market place? All I am saying is why attack people over hype? Even if you think they are retarded for wanting this game to release. Who exactly does it hurt? You? Your not gonna change their mind about it, and by attacking every single DFO thread all it does is create needless, pointless derogatory rebuttal after remark. Of course, we all really know why. That this hate and controversy is indeed the point. A lot of the people who riffle through this site. Have no game and are a bit bitter about it. They simply must attack something or some bodies of "kiddies" whose basic comprehension of the world is sooo much less than theirs. Their degrading of this, or that, is the exact same thing as these so called "Fan boys" who tout their "company" slogans. There is abosolutely no difference. Save one is very negative, and the other overly positive. The blind passion is exactly the same. But hey controversy makes for great T.V. and I am sure this why we all still tune in. I just think maybe we should be a little less hypocritical while we are doing it. P.S. I think people who are wanting this game feature list are far from MMO kiddies. In fact I would wager most to be MMO Vets. Or old schoolers who long for a rehash of good UO, AC, or even under wishful thinking, a combo of them both that somehow manages to exceed them both. |

Originally posted by darkwonderer From my perspective, it isn't so much that the members here are attacking the people who are anticipating Darkfall, but they are attacking the game itself and its authenticity. When the fans of this game see their game or the authenticity of their game questioned in any way, they start attacking the people asking legitimate questions. Once the people who have doubt get attacked, often they attack back. Rinse and Repeat over and over. This game certainly has a lot of reason for doubt and suspicion I think. It's been in development since 2000 or 2001. And all this time later, they still don't offer much substance to support all the claims and promises they have proposed over the years. Not only that, but how could such a small Indie group develop the most ambitious mmo ever made when we speak of the proposed graphics, features, and 200+ or 500+ player battles with no lag, etc etc. One does wonder how solid this game can actually be. It's very easy to make a list a features and dream up a world and ideas for what you want in a game. It's much harder to make those fantasies become reality. Screenshots and their videos prove nothing at all. Dark and Light and Age of Mourning had all that. Ultima Online 2 had many very impressive screenshots and videos as well. It never happened. Just because they offer lots of screenshots and some videos doesn't mean this game will 'certainly launch'. There is also no previews offered by anyone that I've ever heard of or that has any legitimate respect and history of previewing games. I'm sure that plenty of legit game sites would be more then happy to give the game a try and write a preview of the game being tested out. But that simply hasn't happened, and for this game to be only a few months from release makes the legitimacy of this game even cloudier.

Atleast this is a discussion worthy of words. I would agree that questioning the legitimacy of DFO is not a negative thing. I have no issue with such things, or your rebuttal to mine. However, what you are talking about and what I was is not the same. There are people (not saying you) that simply throw out negativity, thread after thread, without reason or fact. Or hell even viable speculation. They simply zing in with cold one liners. Or belittle the people they are trying to speak out against. I could point out many in this thread. In fact, my original post was responding to a post speaking about the feature list, and was not really talking about the validity of the game at all. Lastly, maybe there are parts of this feature list that are simply "dream" componets. Things that are simply not possible, or feasible. I simply do not know, nor do I claim too. However, I doubt you or most others in this thread, have certaintity about their being plausible concepts either. What I do know is most of us just want the basic sandbox concept, one that is sorely lacking in recent releases, to come out. If somethings are not viable fine. However, I have played games that have had the basic concept .So I know it's possible. Hell give me old UO, add modern(or atleast close to modern) graphics, with a meaningful method of adjustment for Murderers. And acceptable Risk vs Reward for the theives, and I would play tomorrow. Throw in a few things from AC, like their item creator, and various other things. I would play for years. Maybe I am alone. |

remember: daoc has massive battles of 200+ back in 2001. it's not a big deal when you design for massive battles from the outset, like DF has.
