Talk is cheap and actions speak a thousand words, 7 years of talking zero showing of the game speaks volumes about how much of this is a reality.

No one is going to argue that this doesn’t sound wonderful or awesome, but it’s just a fantasy until proven otherwise at this stage, they had the benefit of the doubt many years ago but now its show it or shut up in my opinion.

After following this game since its announcement I’m no longer interested in fantasizing over hopes and dreams based entirely on 7 years of developers talking about their game, especially considering the number of times they have bait and switched release and beta dates and the constant carrot on a stick beta “soon” routine.

This list is the perfect example of why this game has been in development for over 7 years but has so little to show, it’s a very ambitious feature list for a project by any developer let alone Aventurine, and explains why they have constantly failed to meet every timeline for beta or release over the last 7 years.

The only way they are going to successfully release this game is if they make a realistic assessment of what is going to be possible for their current launch date and then honestly inform the community about the reality of what this game will be at launch and not continue to encourage hopelessly optimistic expectations.

If this game does launch this year I personally think there will be a lot more disappointing disclosures closer to launch, and many of features on this list will eventually be revealed to be less impressive in reality or disappointing in there implementation or lack of.

I don’t want to be right, but common sense and experience of the industry informs me that skepticism is the most prudent course of action at this stage, until proven otherwise by the developers.

Skepticism is a good and healthy stance at this point. I have to admit I'm a bit skeptical myself that they will be able to release with *all* of the features they have claimed. Its when skepticism turns to hate that it becomes a bad and unhealthy stance to take. It IS just a game after all and not worth getting all worked up over on either side, fanboy or hater. If it releases great......if it doesn't oh well there ARE other games to play. It would however be nice to at least have one other open PvP skill based game to play other than EVE as not everyone likes being a *ship*.

Bren

Nicely put Bren, what wories me is the classic statement that talk is cheap and the game has been in development for 7 years a wonderful throw away comment from the type of people ho feel they are owed something from the developers.

The way I see it is that we are owed nothing more than a game, due to the size of this organisation and the feature list from a development perspective there guys are flying in comparison to other game(That is if anyone cares to work out the relative Man hours spent on the game to other MMORPGs with less features).

What is also interesting is that having all the features they list if you have good programmers is not as hard as people may think, where features are hard is when they are added after the event due to bad design / copycat tacticts (oh look what that other game is doing we must have it) or just plain  corner cutting.

Darkfalls aim is to avoid this, as I see it they seem consistent with there approach so I am happy with this.

Will the game ever come out we will see but one thing is for sure if it does we wont be getting the trash being dished out in the current batch of MMOs, playable but no challenge and not a lot of fun.

Skeptiscism is an interesting approach, not neccessary in my oppinion unless your life depends on a computer game releasing. I like the idea and want them to release but it won't be the end of me

And I applaud the Aventurine team for trying to develop something worth playing.
