Beta canceled. - 2006 At E3 the developers did not have a playable version of the game available at their booth. They had an offline demo instead. - July 2006 Aventurine announces that preparations for beta are about to begin. - January 2007 announcement that fully functional and stable beta client is being run on their servers. - May 2007 announcement that beta is planned to begin in the summer of 2007 - August 2007 announcement that although the game is ready for beta, the beta will not start until negotiations with publishers are complete. - September 2007 announcement that applications for the beta will be taken soon. - May 2008 announcement that launch date will be inside of 2008 with a short beta right before.

Hi polygon graphics like Age of Conan demands more of your computer because there is more information to handle by it. A game with lower polygon count like DF will have way better performance for the average computer where games like Age of Conan is unplayable. When my game freezes up and fps goes down it make game lag. Whether its server based or not is just a matter of taste. A game with DF low polygon graphics will naturally perform way better then a high polygon graphic game like Age of Conan.

oh ya? that's the reason df will fail alright, woe to the free-aim system. oh yeah, let's not forget about lag either because our computers suck, i wish next-gen graphics were never developed.

DF devs are claiming at the minimum they'll be able to achieve 100 vs 100 siege battles. When you use the example of an FPS with 64 players max, that's 32 on each side, not 64 on each side.....COD4 is probably the best coded FPS on the market (graphics wise) and it still doesn't go higher than 64 players on a server. |

Free aiming system would be so incredabily fun. Planet side was a blast. Sure it will be hard and they could fail but props for trying to do it. Making MMO's evolve and different from the rest is something that should be rewarded. |

Why do you think they settles for a maximum of 48 in each team in their instances?=) 48 vs 48 aint epic battles. Its WoW battlegrounds, a mini-game within the game cause game cant handle a open world like DF will. I very much doubt even the best of the best computer can handle a 48 vs 48 battle without being a lagfeast. |
