I make no secret of the fact that I believe Darkfall to be vaporware.  Yes I use to be one of the people interested in it.  If you believe that Darkfall will be released that's fine.   Just don't get bent out of shape when someone says otherwise.  Just keep your composure and realize this.  If it does actually release, even if it releases as something totally different then what is promised, you get the last laugh.   Because the game will have actually been released.  If saying "I told you so" fits your personality you will be able to say it till your hearts content. 

Forums are a great medium for communication, but the Darkfall forums has become a pit of hostility with "believers" and "non-believers" on each side.  It's ok to ignore some things, there is no need to make hostile post towards everyone and everything that don't praise Darkfall.  There was really no need to even reply to the OP's post if you all thought it was bogus.  You could have just ignored it.

Darkfall website is probably the one with most nonbelievers with no interest in the game except pissing of the fanbois. Without these characters Darkfall forum would work just fine.

If youre not interested in the game, search for one that interest you.

Reason why there is so much hostilness on Darkfall forum is that people not interested in game post negativeness 100% of the posts they make. Immature characters with needs to piss people off.

Since this was first announced publicaly back in 2001 the only things they have EVER released from it are a few video's showing a camera floating around some buildings and terrain with 2003'ish graphics , some world screenshots , and some extremely basic gameplay vids that would not take any game dev studio any longer than maybe 6 months to do.

Character creation. - this one's really sad considering it's the earliest and most basic thing you develop for one of these games

Character equipment and inventory

World map

Resource gathering.

NPC hirelings

Guild interface

City building

City sieging

Login screen/character selection

NPC enemy camps

Banking, market, mail system

Travel system

NPC’s

Alignment system

Chat interface

Trading

 

So please.. let's stiop getting excited over some player models standing around some tree's.  Ya???   Ok.

This game would be absolutely perfect for a pen and paper table top RPG.  Because that's exactly what people do and have been doing while following this for all these years --- looking at some empty screenshots and videos , than filling in the rest with their imaginations.

Fact, just because you are used to the same Dog and Pony show all the other Developers of MMOs put on years and years in advance does not mean that all games have to follow this direction.

We understand that you are really angry that DF has not released and that your constant complaining about it is only a mask for the thrill you cannot contain to play it.

Its ok we wont hold it against you. But please stop stating opinion as fact when its just that... opinion.

As for me i will blindly go on having faith in Adventurine and will even preorder if i can just to make all your haters go butt nuts crazy over my audacity to support a game i really want to play.... OMFG !

It took them all of 7 full years to get 50,000 people registered on those boards. How many of those do you think are even around anymore or care?  MAYBE 50%?  So you can go ahead and cut that number down to 25k. And it's probably even less than that.

Compare that to games like conan and Warhammer that both have over 500,000 people signed up just for testing.

We know and the devs know that a game like this don't have same market as mainstream games. AoC and WAR has a huge number of former fans from their past games. Wich are one of the best that have come out. Just see at Funcoms staff, have been in development since 2003 with 150-200 people involved, And it's not released yet. In beta tho. But not released. So you might understand why it's take a long time for Aventurine to create their game. Concidering their features.

And I think even DF will have alot subscribers when (if) beta is announced. Maybe not 500.000 but still alot more than subscribers at the forum today. And I think I have to state that it's my opinion not facs.

Another fact to consider is that Asp’s description of the Technical demonstration he played during his visit last year described in general terms exactly what we have seen in every game play video released over the years.

Asp did not mention anything significant from his tech demo description that is not allready contained in all the game play videos so far released.

And all the game play videos so far released do not contain anything significantly different then what Asp described about the tech demo.

The only differences are cosmetic and superficial.

I encourage anyone to actually read (or re-read) Asp’s description of his experience playing the tech demo from last year and compare it to the game play videos released before you deny this possibility.

So its is possible that all the so far released game play videos have been made using the same or different versions of the stand alone tech demo that Asp played during his visit, and do not show actual beta version game play.

Also consider that Asp disclosed that the tech demo he played was the same one that the developers had been showing to potential publishers, the fact that they where showing the tech demo and not a beta version to potential publishers adds credibility to this possibility.

The same possibility can be considered concerning the videos released showing scenery and locations, they have very little or no NPC’s, mobs, other players or any of the other many things that indicate they are videos from a functioning beta version MMO running on a server.

Its quite possible they are also taken using some form of stand alone tech demo or development tool to demonstrate scenery and locations, but don’t actually show locations and scenery from a beta version taken in game.

If anyone wants to disprove this possibility then please do post links to screen shots and/or videos that irrefutably demonstrate that any of the features or game play on the OP’s list have been shown. (which is actually a copy past from a list I made in another thread)

I’m not saying that there is defiantly not currently an almost fully functional beta version that is almost ready for beta testing within a few months after a publishing decision has been made like the developers have said recently.

What I’m saying is that so far I see no conclusive evidence that any of the released videos or screen shots are defiantly taken in game from within a functional and feature complete beta version, or that any of the released videos or screens shots adequately demonstrate the majority of the features or game play possibility’s mentioned in the FAQ.

That's my whole point though.  Darkfall Fan A post something about DF, someone comes in and makes a negative post.   Darkfall Fan B enters thread.   Does he talk about the post created by DarkFall Fan A?  Nope, first thing he does is quote the "negative" post, and begins to rag on said person.   When it would just be easier to ignore the negative post entirely.  There by avoiding turning a little flame into a full blown fire.

Anyone that is new, but seriously interested in Darkfall.  Will hopefully have enough common sense to not take every post he/she comes across as "gospel".   He or She will take the time to do research, and make an assumption on their own.  They don't need fanatical people that claim to like Darkfall chasing down those they believe to be non-believers or negative posters, like they are on some holy crusade.    If you believe their post to be wrong that's fine.   Refute their points, and call it a day.  There is no need to be hostile about it.  (That last sentence isn't directed at you or anyone in particular)
