I used to play UO from 1998 until they really screwed it. Back then, there were no clans, everyone called it a guild lol
Anyways I am totally psyched about this game. I used to be in a PvP guild in UO called Visolara on Atlantic. They were at war with everyone, it was awsome! Are there any guilds out there recruiting that are going to have many players in the Atlantic timezone in the United States. If so I would love to check you guys out!! I love PvP... and not the crappy WoW PVP.... real PvP like UO. I would be a very valuable asset to any guild and will prove it with dedication and the blood of my enemies!!!!!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHA the age of Darkfall is coming! |

Right.... Guilds in DF are pre made, example the "thieves guild". Clans is what the players can form and join. So there is actually a difference. |

the word clan precedes guild by a long time. i think its just the devs trying to find some old concept to reword and (sometimes) repackage to present on a new game.

I am trying to get my old UO guild back together for DarkFall.. I love the sound of this game. I have been waiting for a skill/pvp based game ever since UO went care bear. Come check us out.

Clan was already in use as a term for a gaming group in Quake at around the same time that UO launched. MMORPGs had guilds, it's true; but FPS games have always had clans. Clan is a better name for a group in a PvP-oriented game, anyway. When I hear clan, it brings up images of feuding scottish clansmen swing claymores at each other while bagpipes skirl in the background. When I hear guild, I think of a fishmonger in the Hanseatic league having his weighing scales tested by the local guildmaster for accurate measure. The former sounds much more fun to me. Tastes vary. |
