A simple question: "So what are the differences between this and the original Darkfall?" ================================================================================================ - New network code (no load lag) =============================================================================================== A few things missing from that thread atm... - Land Fortresses - New epic world boss mobs - Revamped dungeons, traps, tierd system where you unlock new levels inside eventually leading to a boss - Multi-core support (More FPS for you) =============================================================================================== The armor system has been totally revamped.. =============================================================================================== Orginal posts from darkfall online forums (added few points from the comments) Source: http://forums.darkfallonline.com/showthread.php?t=327136 I do not take credit for this post, just wanted to spread the word! |

I´ve played Darkfall occasionally(carebear and all lol) and I liked what I experienced in the game, it is rather exclusive and in my own opinion lightyears ahead of other(or should I say THAT other) fantasy sandbox real-time combat MMO´s. I didnt experience any major problems or gamebreaking things when I played, did the free trial and ended up paying, dont really know why I stopped, I had fun and it was some what scary with FFA full loot but that was part of the fun.
I think it had great atmosphere and was very immersive, and if they are gonna update this further through graphics, music etc, Im definitely gonna try this game.

I know you guys love your game, and I don't mean to be rude here, but....
Does this not scream NGE to anyone else? Will the game you guys love even be close to the same after this? I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil |

Originally posted by WhiteLantern I wasn't in SWG until after the NGE, but from what I could gather the NGE changed the game for the worse. It took something that was challenging but rewarding and turned it into easy mode, especially regarding Jedis. And it wasn't really run by the players themselves. UW is an evolution of DF, or at least that's how it has been portrayed for the last few years. Things that were annoying or outright crappy in the original have been finessed or changed completely. I don't believe every bug or negative in the original will be completely gone in UW, but I do think the game will take what made DF so awesome in the first place and make it even better. Darkfall 2 looks very promising...yea a few things dropped from uber hardcore to medium hardcore...lol, but they have to appease the masses as well. Someone in my clan is urked at a few changes and I said the following, "would you prefer to play Darkfall the exact way it is now with a less than desired population, or would you prefer to play it with a few things you don't like as much, but with a massive populaiton." The decision is rather easy. The hardcore grind will be much easier as well. Thats fine in a game like darkfall as darkfall is a total end game, game.

Is it still going to be first person?

Originally posted by TheCoon It wasnt 1st person. It was a mix of both 1st and 3rd person, depending on what you were using (bows & spells 1st person, melee weapons 3rd person).I remember reading a long time back theyw ere going to make some changes to this and allow you to pick your view, but that was a couple of years ago back when it was still DF 2010, then DF2.0. Not too sure what they have done with it now. |

Originally posted by kaiser3282 The market system will not be in at launch.. http://forums.darkfallonline.com/showthread.php?t=327298 So at the moment its gonna be the same as it was in DF. Plus banks are currently universal in darkfall so you can open your bank from any bank in darkfall its not specific to a location like Mortal Online. So in Darkfall you never really had to escort anything. If you where going to buy somthing off someoe you would go to their clan city, then you would get them to turn off towers and open the bank up. You would to the trade and put the item straight into your own bank and then re-call out.. The only thing the new system will do if they bring it in is make it easier for people to buy and sell stuff..
Saying that if you did want to buy stuff from the vendors in villages i guess there was a little risk involved there.. and yeah that will be gone.. but i cant really recall buying many things from vendors.. My 3D models |

Players come for the game, but they stay for the people- Most Devs have forgotten this. |

I won't ever play DF again, cba with the general PvP mindset or attitude tbh, but kudos to Aventurine for once again proving a game can be supported and robustly developed under the sub revenue model while still being profitable for the company involved. Looks like you open world gank PvP types finally have a game you can go to and leave the rest of us alone :P |

You know what,i am often critical of developers and the games they are marketing but this time ,i think a developer is actually doing the right thing. That is a lot of significant changes and i like most all of them. My biggest problem with the game however is the world was too bland/empty.Even the forts were near barren. It was VERY obvious the game had no assests. The game needs a LOT more assests. DF actually was a good idea for a game and i played and did try to like it. I also felt like i was running around with no purpose, all games need a purpose. Although i like what is mentioned here, i will remain skeptical,VERY skeptical until i see it done.If they can pull this off, i will most certainly give the game another whirl. He is correct, they have to rush this out unfortunately becuase players won't wait too long,so there is going to be some give and take for sure. Here is the guy talking about the game A little disappointed MMORPG was not on top of this,it is someone's job to supply this site with MMORPG news. LIstening to this guy i have changed my mind, before i thought he didn't care much about gaming, but i think he does really want his game to be good and not just a money maker.I can feel his passion and understanding of the game when he talks. http://www.youtube.com/user/Napolianboo#p/u/15/rCYLLQCNc1w |

I am 100% going to buy the game again, yes DF1 had it flaws as many other games. But no other game have ever captured me so much as DF did.
The open PvP world + the combat system is just magnificant. And I cant wait to play the next chapter.. |

As much as I was honestly looking forward to this game - the class system has officially bummed me out. I am glad they realized that you should not be able to be a master of all trades, however this really tends to look like just another class system that you can change on the fly. Why not allow your character to have a template with X amount of skills that you can max out, or a maximum amount of skill points.. I just dont understand why they would switch to a class based system..
