Seanmcweirdo posted on forumfall not too long ago that his previous MMO experience consists of 9 months on an EQ2 PVE Server. AND NOTHING ELSE.  So he never played a well working Sandbox obviously. Nuff said.

Oh and he is actually "taking a break" from DF to work on "Neverwinter Night Mods". lol.

And he talks a lot about his Pen&Paper Fantasies...as we all know.

As much as I really don't like Darkfall the way it turned out I could imagine worse things to do than making Neverwinter nights mods and pen and paper fantasies. That is proper stuff to do!

Let us know how your mods come along!

Can't really say I'm feeling the fourth.
I have to get tested for cystic fibrosis next week.  A disorder that people don't typically live past 37 with, although some have made it to 40.  I'll be 33 in Oct.

Can't really say I care who the publisher is anymore.
Sudenly I'm scared shitless that this game may be here after I'm not.

So, in other words, SEANMCAD is a complete noob, with hardly any mmorpg experience under his belt ...!

Where-as, many of us have been playing these games for 11+ years and have played a plethora of classic games and understand why they become classic and what game mechanics made those particular games work.

And what mechanics made them go down hill...

I've said this before, most DFO players are newbies to gaming. Because everyone else who has MMO experience left Darkfall when the NDA was dropped.

Only newbies stuck around, as this was their first taste of pizza. Meanwhile, everyone else is telling them frozen pizza isn't the real thing. We were promised oven-baked goodness, since that is what we've been use to for the last 11~12 years.  But, when it came time, it was just another frozen, hap-hazrd instant junk.

Now we have someone like SEANMCAD, who obvisouly has absolutely no gaming esperince, telling us that Darkfall is the best game he has ever played. Thus, his statments & posts are insignificant..  (illustrated by his star rating)....   yet, he's unable to accept that he is just not educated on the past MMO's and that currently he could be playing more challenging games than CS knife fighting...   etc.

But isn't, because his knowledge is weak.

Because, all we want to know right now is :  Who is the publisher for Darkfall in North America...?

no, no, no ... you must understand seans background and where he is coming from! he is an underground oldschool pen and paper player who not only crafts NWN modules, he also likes the game, as the actual game that is IN the game as the code itself. he is on his holy crusade against the current "themepark nike syndrom" and he is fighting on many battlegrounds (boards) at the same time with his divine keyboard which is causing mortal wounds to carebears and nonbelievers.

I am an old man. Been playing computer games for almost 30 years now. Yes its true my MMO experiene has been EQ2 for 9 months, Eve for one week, and NWN as a mod maker, server host for about  a year (if you consider  NWN an MMO which I do).

Other than that, would you all like a list of the single player games as well?

yes, I think 1980 or 81 was my first PC video game on the Vic20.

And for the purposes of this conversation I do consider NWN an MMO. That said, for the puposes of this conversation and MMO has nearly nothing to do with my point and I think you all are using the MMO as a way out becuase you know I am right

it doesnt matter if the subject of the poiint is an MMO, a pair of shoes, a place to eat, a movie or a cable subscription, the point is the same with just a slight alteration depending on subject.

Furthermore, you know it.

EDIT: by the way I think everyone knows its not a huge leap between cable subscription and an MMO subscription in this context and more importantly in almost all cases when a debate restorts to a persons personal experience or background its usally a debate that has been lost by the side using the personal tactics.

you love this game, which most people think is an insult and a scam by AV to their long term followers and which even most people who like the concept of the game consider it as unpolished, lacking and failing in many aspects and you try to force your opinion with weird arguments and your crazed view of things on the people here and even on the official forum!

When talking about watching companies behavior in the context of what i am talking about one could easily replace the word "cable company" with "MMO" and the points would apply nearly exactly.

Any word yet on who the NA publisher is? Or like the "Expansion" do we have to wait till the day before.

I think that Aventurine is trying to hold off as long as possible on disclosing who the publisher is. 

For some reason they think some of their players may balk when they finally have to disclose that they are self-publishing. 

They will still have the faithful few though that will back them with that decision though.

Nevermind that it will make a lot of what they said before invalid... that really won't matter at all.

I know we have been down this road a little bit before but I very honestly think there are a huge number of gamers in the world would dont really care if its self published or not.

Well if they do self publish, that faithful few will be really small.

I would hope The Aventurine would be smart and have a decent publisher to help the game grow.How ever with that said I do think they are self publishing like you said.

They were self publishing before the game was out and the entire MMO very exicted about it. They self publsihed when the servers came on line and people came in mass. They are still self publishing now even though many players have quit but regardless, publishers do not write code so I really dont see how it matters.

They were self publishing before the game was out and the entire MMO very exicted about it. They self publsihed when the servers came on line and people came in mass. Aventurine is the company writing the code. They are the ones that made Darkfall. They are the ones that are implementing the Expansion. They are the ones most likely publishing the game. They are the same company.

not exactly but I think you and I are talking about two different things.

I am asking why does it matter who is publishing the game.

I am not sure what your point is regarding the question of who is the publisher.
