This is the best explanation of Aventurine's policy that I have found. Whatever you think of it, I'm sure that, if they have the game they say they have, then some version of this is the motivation behind their secrecy.

I do agree with you to some extent about the 'judgement' of a closed beta, but when you consider the fact that this game is supposedly launching this year, you'd think it should be almost complete.

I'm amazed that not a single person has come forth and even posted a screenshot to confirm that closed beta is in fact being carried out. Anyone without downs could get away with it. We've been going by what Tasos has been saying for the last few years with hardly any actual proof to show for it. The most gameplay footage seen would not have been possible if it weren't for a fan that got to attend the Athens event.

Aren't you the least bit skeptical/worried about the progress of the game?

I still believe the game will come out eventually, it's just the absolute unorthodox approach these guys have taken that has me wondering when it will happen and how feature-comple the game will be.

There was a thread posted earlier by a mmorpg moderator about people being in Darkfall beta that cant say anything about it because of the NDA rules. So even if staffers from MMORPG.com were invited into darkfall they cant tell you squat, they cant give you any info.

Also I would like to believe that everyone even staffers from this site would be in the "waiting list" as a possible beta tester. Just because they have a site doesnt give them the gaurantee that they will get in beta, so basically I guess they are treated as "regular" people and will have to wait to see if they can get into beta just like many of us.

How would they benefit?  The editors wouldn't be able to talk about their experiences due to NDA.

They are inviting people who will test the game, not contest winners or editors.  People can review the game when it is released.  DF needs no more hype, it is already much more hyped than what they intended.  Everyone that intends to play DF already knows about it, marketing like a beta preview would be pointless.

Let's remember, this isn't AoC, they are making a real game and want it to be good.  They aren't trying to get as many people as possible to buy it at launch before they realize the game was shit.  Just use common sense.  It is a TEST afterall.  Try harder trolls, maybe then someone will take you seriously.

Look harder on the big guilds websites, even the small guilds lol, you will find beta leaks.

Yep and it is unfortunate because there are some very intelligent people on these boards.  However it is a breeding ground for people who need to compensate for RL and troll to feel good.  DF forums are a prime example.  I mean sometimes we get baited but for the most part, deep down, everyone looks at some of these posts and feels bad that there is an actual human on the other side of a computer somewhere.

Also because anyone who has lived in the real world knows that Aventurine has no "actions" to explain at all.  When they release a product on to the market, then they will be judged.

They have done NOTHING wrong to this community.

For information about upcomming and released MMOs....yea its probably one of the best around.

For forum conversation...it is hands down one of the worst youll find anywhere.  That is pretty well known around many other forums, not just my opinion.
