First Pol good post , and i think i understand what you were getting at by giving this information. Which i will say it caters to both the fanbois and the neigh sayers which is good cos ppl can draw their own opinion of it. Now ive never posted on Darkfall before cos i cant say i know enough NOW to get into a solid debate over it. I did follow the game though up until a few years ago, when i first heard about the game i was 23 and excited im 31 now and cant believe this game is still talked about.

what does bother me is this, aside from early notions and attracting the attention of the major gaming sites there hasnt been any new updates given by such places like IGN for instance in quite sometime. And is only really being shared internally.  Even their last in 2007 states they hadnt actually seen the game and before that was dec 2006 but nothing after. Did they declare the game vaporware i wonder. or just decide if it finally surfaces to be more reality they ll cover it.

now i know its better to lay low key w/ such a game of this magnitude for more than obvious reasons but you would think that a game like this would also recieve a lot more hype and intrigue from the gaming community sites as well as regular updates. Especially since its claiming to offer so much.

Another thing that kinda bothers me is what i read on their official boards recently and thats the fact that when released its only releasing in EU and no NA release announced cos they havent found someone for it. That to me is a caution or a red flag, why you ask?  NA  has the largest potential client base to gain from. Not to mention with War and AoC why wouldnt someone on NA soil want to put another competitor into the frey? I mean our entertainment media players buy just about anything and everything now a a day. Just a thought. I mean even if they didnt want to compete a publisher would just push back a NA release date.

Anyways i could personally care less one way or another now, if it comes out great good to see the small guy finally come up w/ something grand especially if they execute what they promise. I hope ppl really dont set the expectations too high.  If it never sees the light of day, hey thank you for the concept i hope one day someone knocks it down.

I also see enough information to feel it will probably release in some form, exactly when and in what form remains to be seen, but im hardly optimistic especially considering what iv'e found recently.

It pretty much sums up my experience of nearly every other independent MMO developer from the past who’s promised the world and then failed miserably, hopefully Aventurine will buck that trend but I doubt it.

 Plus moving from past work history and funding issues,  to where they vacation and their outside hobbies is moving into creepy creepy stalker territory.

 

That’s just the way the gods of google have guided me, all I can say is the devils in the detail, for me personally all this information no matter how obscure or extraneous is all part of the bigger picture, you can decide for yourself what that picture is, or you can dismiss everything in this thread as irrelevant or just keep attacking me personally for providing this information, your decision.

Bjorn Tore Oren, one of the orginal minds behind Darkfall (the other one obviously being Claus) is back on the Razorwax team! He is working on race descriptions, and other world background and design issues. You have already seen some of his work in the Alfar race description.

Perhaps attempting to sell something for a lot more then its really worth or convincing people to invest a lot more then they should in something, is the sort of activity some or many people involved with this project are or have been interested or involved in.

Hopefully Jade El Mehdawis excellent 50% investment in the now bankrupt Razorwax has nothing to do with this sort of pattern of behavior whatsoever, or his obviously substantial financial association with Aventurine.

If the devil is in the details for you Polar i suggest you start reading the details of your own information you pull up.  So far refuting your theories really has only been a matter of correcting you on your own information.  I make fun of you on top of that,  mostly because its just easy.  {mod edit}.  I really do not need to tell you that,  your actions pretty much speak for themselves.

Gotha sorry to burst your bubble but I fail to see how you have refuted any of my theories or corrected any of the information I have provided.

Unless of course you think making personal attacks and insults and generally having a condescending and dismissive attitude constitutes “refuting theories or correcting information”, in which case I would certainly agree you have, but of course only in your own mind.

I think everyone should calm down with Polars posts.  He thinks these things mean so much, but I'm totally reminded of the Princess Bride when I read his new information.  

I think about the part when Westley and Vizzini (the third guy) get into a battle of wits over which drink has the poison in it.  Vizzini makes tons of conjectures and in the end was wrong anyway. Thats how I view Polarizations comments.

Like the previous one.

Your first sentence I can agree with, but it pretty much ends there.  Like many here, you are building a strawman.  The OP didnt say any of the things you attribute to him.

Lets look at all this thread another way.  Say Darkfall is a race horse.  You want to bet on that horse, and being smart, you want to get all the details you can.  You find out about his owner, his trainer, his jockey.  Now, you might discover the jockey had been drinking heavily the night before the big race, and that the trainer has been paying more attention to some other horse in his care.  So, rather than bet it all on Darkfall to win, you decide to "hedge your bet".  That doesnt mean the horse Darkfall cant or wont win the race.  It means the signs dont look that good. (at least to this handicapper)

This isn't a horse race Theodgrim, this is game development. 

I do minor web development along with minor programming -- but my main function is IT direction at the company I work for.  Last weekend I went to the beach and spent the weekend having a good time with my fiance.  Meanwhile I have a website to rebuild for the company I work for and 2 small batch programs that i need to test for automation this week.

Will the website not get done because I was at the beach last weekend?

Well will darkfall not release because

It might all just be a coincedence, but i doubt it, but of course you or anyone else is free to decide for themselves."

Also, there are many many companies that shut down -- some that even go bankrupt -- and what, do you think the people that worked for those places just disappear?   Just because they go other places, and seek other ventures does not make everything they do a failure.

Again, this isn't a horse race, and if it were a horse race Darkfall wouldn't be just a one trick pony. Maybe the trainer got drunk the night before the race, but maybe the next race that horse will win.  Its conjecture, and nothing I've seen so far is definite enough to change the state of Darkfall right now.

What I actually proved in this case was that one of the “original minds” behind Darkfall has had an on/of working relationship with the project and Razorwax/Aventurine and appears to have very little or no prior experience with game development.

And that prior to or during his early involvement with Dakrfall and Razorwax he was attempting to sell photos and paintings at rather extortionate prices, and has probably continued to be involved with other similar activities during or between his time at Razorwax/Aventurine.

I find this hardly reassuring considering this person is one of the “original minds” behind Darkfall and is or has been one of its lead world builders and designers, of course you may not.

Another attempt at trivializing something in an attempt to discredit and dismiss everything, but of course Jade El Medawi did indeed pay to have someone put Darkfall on the side of a donkey or in this case an MG car in 2005, so perhaps your parody is not to far of, of course what it actually means is open to contention.

Again if you really believe this is all conjecture then thats fine, i think the facts and information presented speak for themselves.

Tasos rented a pony and painted Darkfall on the side for his nephew so Darkfall clearly won't release this year.

Another attempt at trivializing something in an attempt to discredit and dismiss everything, but of course Jade El Medawi did indeed pay to have someone put Darkfall on the side of a donkey or in this case an MG car in 2005, so perhaps your parody is not to far of, of course what it actually means is open to contention.

Polar, what is fact?  Its something that you can prove without a shadow of a doubt, not what you can prove to the best of your knowledge.

I'll come back to that in a second, first I want to address me "putting words in your mouth"   What you quoted was basically a your arguments as they translate to the Princess Bride.  But of course perhaps you're not trying to say Darkfall will never release?  But what are you trying to prove then? That developers have lives and don't spend all their time developing games as you think they should?

Now back to what you CAN prove.   Tasos lied about his work history.  Well thats yet to be proven 100% truthfully.  You don't know because you haven't spoken with the companies he says he's worked for, and you haven't spoken with Tasos to get clarification.   There was no retraction printed on his work history. 

As for Darkfall not going into beta and the string of development for the past 5 years, well, not much I can say about that.  However I can say that games have been pushed back before, and they will be again.  Maybe not 5 years, then again, perhaps, longer .... we would never know ... this game was announced way early in development whereas many games wait until they're about ready to launch.

So "potentially" being "demonstrated" as a liar is far from fact my friend.   Selling art for "extortionate" prices and "probably" continuing involvment in "similar activities" just leaves too many holes in the "facts" for me to take it as something solid.   Sorry but while there are holes in the argument it leaves people to believe what they want as you do with your "facts"  

By the way, do you know how much art sells for?  I once saw a canvas painted blue, just a blue canvas.. no strokes or anything like that and it was selling for 300 dollars.  Ridiculous.   Someone bought that too.  I could buy a canvas and paint it blue myself.    People can sell art for whatever they want because its art, it's supposedly about emotion, feeling, but moreso in my eyes, decoration.   And the painter sets the price, if you don't like it, you don't have to buy it.    Maybe someone will.

Also, there are many many companies that shut down -- some that even go bankrupt -- and what, do you think the people that worked for those places just disappear?   Just because they go other places, and seek other ventures does not make everything they do a failure.

Again, this isn't a horse race, and if it were a horse race Darkfall wouldn't be just a one trick pony. Maybe the trainer got drunk the night before the race, but maybe the next race that horse will win.  Its conjecture, and nothing I've seen so far is definite enough to change the state of Darkfall right now.

Verifiable sources that he takes hiking trips in greece? Come on now, if anyone wants to go back and read your post they are more then welcome to, I'm not hiding anything. I just rather not quote a large post if its not necessary. You can clear it up by reposting the links if you wanted to, but all its really going to "prove" is pretty much the same things I just said.  You can say I have zero integrity or sincerity if you want, I won't be offended, because its not true, and your personal attacks won't phase me bud.  Thanks though, at least I feel like I'm getting somewhere.

Lets not pretend you dont understand an analogy.  You do understand, right?  Then take it for what it was.  And please, read what I wrote.  I already stated that none of the factors in my analogy indicated the "horse" cant or wont "win".
