Actually a few of the former artists are now working on other projects, and some CURRENT artists have side projects, like art for a trading card game AND art for Darkfall. That's the only thing that he could possibly mean. |

And yes, Darkfall started in 2003. A small team of 3-5 people in someone's basement, under Razorwax start creating Darkfall in the time frame you listed. They were given the opportunity to merge with a bigger company, with more funds, and make a much better game. It was completely redone. I doubt much, if any source code exists from the first attempt at Darkfall. The Devs were not satisfied, saw the potential the game had, and wanted to make it as best as it could be. When Women's Gamers went there to try it out, the girl reported that she was unsure Darkfall would ever release because the developers were obsessed with making it perfect. Knowing that, its very easy to believe they scrapped the 5 man Darkfall attempt and went at it again with a full team. As for the publisher issue, what does a publisher do? They distribute the game. They pay for getting the game out on the market. Very little difference between a publisher and a distributer, but in the end, it all comes down to the fact that they have to be distributing something, therefore, the game exists. We just don't know in what condition. |

Uh... I'm on your side buddy. And you said the TROLLS are braindead? Seriously, scroll up, I trashed Waterlilly a little while back. Some artists that work on Darkfall have worked on other projects, or have since left Darkfall to work on other projects.

<sigh> The trolling is done. We know the game exists, when are you people going to stop? They have an old, well respected, European distributer, the game was announced to the companies stock holders. It exists. Its legit. |

anyone with actual software development experience can see from the outside it's a real game, and can extrapolate from the various screenshots and such where they're at with the project. it's no coincidence that DF is only questioned by clueless forum idiots and not by serious software developers.

in some ways it's good these trolls exist to turn away other clueless idiots who can't work out for themselves the difference between a really great game with no PR from a really crap game with hyped PR (eg: AoC). it will keep the clueless idiots out of DF when it releases. |

www.henningludvigsen.com/wordpress/ Henning Ludvigsen, Art Director at Aventurine for the Darkfall project. Just one of many posts. Read it and come to your own conclusion on whether their art director is working on anything unrelated to DF, and is dedicating himself and all his efforts to this project. I feel bad about it, because he seems like a genuinely nice person, but he has to in order to eat. |

As I stated before, no, we don't know if it really exists. Many other games have provided more information, and gotten further down the road to distribution only to fail at the last second. (G&H is a great example). When its finally released and available for sale, its legit...till then, its all just vaporware. Also, to those who argue, then all software is vaporware, including games like WAR. True enough, but the difference is in the probability of them releasing. In WAR's case, it would be fair to estimate the probability of release within the next year at about 90%. Darkfall on the other hand it would be generous to peg the number much higher than 10%.

peruse the several hundred screenshots and 5 official videos and decide for yourself whether the game is real or not. |

I’ve been working a lot for ImagineFX again, and for the current issue (28) I made a workshop on values, and the result you can see here. I also recorded a long video when painting this, which comes with the DVD embedded with the magazine.
I would also like to mention that we (Tascha and I) launched the Pixelbrush, main site recently at our forum’s 1-year anniversary. This is basically a resource site for artists with links, interview, reviews, and art. We’re still in the process of adding content, and hoping that it will be a helpful place in the future for aspiring artists.

I’ve been INCREDIBLY busy the past months, both with work and personal matters. Concerning new works, I have tons laying around here waiting to be posted after official publishing dates and all that jazz. I will have more card games to show, both A Game of Thrones, Call of Cthulhu (both card games AND some other tentacly snacks). There are lots of more tutorials just waiting to be implemented, there are personal pieces, commissioned pieces, and 3D stuff. In other nice news, I was surprised that my portfolio over at CGSociety was featured as the fourth most visited portfolio. I had NO clue about this and completely caught by surprised when someone pointed me to this article."
What do you think? Is the art director of Aventurine working on anything unrelated to DF? Not to question his dedication to the project, but he's obviously working on a lot of stuff unrelated to DF for monetary remuneration, which are the "other jobs" mentioned in this thread. Yet you said it was made up. Even SignusM, a supporter, admitted it. Saying everything you dislike acknowledging is made up doesn't make it go away or be untrue. |

it's all personal hobby stuff. it says as much on the 'about' page. like i said, clueless. |

So comissioned work you get paid for is a personal hobby now? Did you even read the posts or did you just skip them? I'm beginning to doubt you're a sensible person. |
|

let me put it this way, do you think he's working on these side projects while being paid by Aventurine? do you think an art director could possibly be employed as less than full-time? what the guy does out of hours has no bearing on the game, and yes i too have done paid consultancy work outside a regular 50 hour a week job.
use some goddamn common sense man. |

Lets face it, MMOs today are turning into single player console games with a chat box included. |
