Seems he has no previous experience in game design or production whatsoever.

Only 3 months experience as a strategic consultant for an online game server hosting service.

Everything else is gaming media related.

Kjetil Helland

Lead Programmer & Partner at Aventurine

Kjetil Helland’s Experience

  • Lead Programmer

    Aventurine

    (Computer Games industry)

    January 2004Present (4 years 7 months)

Kjetil Helland was one of the first founding members of Razorwax and Darkfall in 2000, but he does not list any involvement before 2004 with Razorwax, which is strange.

He’s also listed as Project Manager of an Oil and Energy company in Norway, and a manager in telecommunications in Norway, which is very strange.

Its possible this is 3 different people with identical names all from Norway that have worked or are working in Oslo, Norway who registered on the same site.

And that Kjetil Helland forgot he was the Lead 3d/client programmer for Darkfall and founded Razorwax in July 2000 with Claus and Ricki.

But it seems very unlikely, this looks fishy.

What exactly would they update them with?, they have apparently all been working on Darkfall since June 2000 when they founded Razorwax.

So they are all still current.

Apart from Kjetil Helland of course, he seems to of forgotten or decided not to mention he was a founding member of Razorwax or that he was its Lead 3d/client programmer.

Henning Ludvigson and Tasos as well as other Darkfall developers and Aventurine employees are on this site, although some of there names are listed as private you can tell who they are by there job descriptions.

Also 1 of the 5 founding members Erik Sperling Johansen is probably just listed as Erik Johansen, the location and job description match, but he does not mention anything to do with Darkfall.

The worrying thing is most of them are apparently interested in being contacted about things like Carrer opportunities, new ventures and business deals.

Anyone have the time to check if he really has a Harvard education?

Strategic Planning?  LOL!!... bush and rumsfeld have better strategic planning than tasos.  I think Darkfall has been in development longer than the Iraq war.

Harvard?  Harvard must not be that big on having English courses because he's made countless grammatical errors in his journals and his ability to clearly express himself and explain details in writing is dismal at best.  He is constantly making mistakes and writing post-journals for errors or confusing statements he has made in previous journals.  Not to mention many lies and blatant misleading statements and miscalculations such as "2005 clan beta sign ups" and "summer 2007 beta".  Seriously, AoC was a few months off, but how in the world can somebody be more than a year off, let alone 3 years??

Community management.... don't even get me started on that one...

I'am telling you this project is complete bullshit.

There will be no launch this year and there will not even be a beta.

There's a Harvard University in Greece?

In my opinion, he is actually very good at public relations management, and community management-building but in his own special evil genius way, considering he appears to have so little to work with.

Remember this is coming from someone who recently said words to the effect of “If Darkfall launched 3 years ago it would have been buried and the community would be non existent, nothing like the size it is today”

Sorry its actually an education from Harvard University Extension School, not Harvard like your quote of my post, it did not paste everything properly the first time.

So it’s an evening or online part time course Harvard education.

WSU, I presume is Washington state university.

I don't see -- even now -- anything that makes me think this project is any less real then it was before.  There are 30 "developers" minimum working on DarkFall, this constitutes perhaps 5 or 6 of them.

Also take into account that you don't have to have experience in anything in particular to start a business -- or to do it for that matter.  Usually thats the whole point of franchising, but in this case it's just a small upstart business with big ideas.  Can't blame them for that.

Either way I disagree that this project is bullshit... so far they're much farther alon in the process then some of the games on MMORPGs list, and the forums themselves make the game more fun then playing half these Free to Play games.

Can you list the names of these 30 people working? Or are you just believing what you're told?

In what way? Releasing 3-4 Alpha videos after 7 years?

They can't even put together a new video from a supposed feature complete game that is supposedly launching in less than 6 months.

You often bring this up, but the sad realization is, there are games that come out all the time without a glimmer of pre-gameplay videos.

There are tons of games released from small developers you've probably never heard of.

Difference is, you've heard of this small developer.. and they're doing something a small developer hasn't done before.

So what if they don't release a video?  The announcement that they were launching this year only happened a couple months ago, not even... I think I can give them until the end of the year at least and reserve my judgement.

Personally I don't care if it releases or not, I think its hilarious you think you're so righteous because you have an opposing view on something you have about as much *inside* information on then any of us.  At this point I much more value Polarizations opinion then yours, at least he finds NEW reasons why to question Darkfall.

It's quite obvious you have no clue about what LinkedIn is. It's not a job advert site where you publish your CV to find a job. It can help finding a job/employee/business partner/contract etc. but it's a social networking site focusing on business contacts. The fact that someone has "looking for career opportunities" checked doesn't mean he's there to get out of his current job. Everyone I know from IT has a similar profile there with everything checked, and I assure you they're not looking for a job at the moment.

And what's your explanations for Core developers / founders and co-owners of Darkfall and Aventurine/ Razorwax being Interested in things like “new ventures” and “business deals” ?

New ventures / business deals like uhmm a publisher maybe? E.g. the new AudioVisual Entertainment division involving employees of both AVE & Aventurine... Or maybe you could read again what I wrote before because you missed the point. It's social networking site, a professional myspace if you will.

And FFS that's the 3rd time I try to post, MMORPG.com wouldn't let me post because they want me to claim a super-duper prize of 1000 silver ignots in some Chinese grind MMO that I supposedly won
