Ok, the game itself is no threath, but the game concept is. I know many gamers that begins to act very weird when you tell them there is a lot more to MMOs then WoW.

They feel that their way of playing MMOs ARE threathen, and i love every minute when i see that in thier eyes.

I laughed out loud after reading that. Threat??  How out of touch with reality can these people who follow this get?

Now they're whipping up wild conspiracy theories saying the industry as a whole is against them all?

This game is not a threat to anything.  This darkfall game project has not shown ANYTHING in 8 years that would make it a threat to any game out there... let alone the "industry"...

Unless you consider a few outdated looking alpha videos and screenshots to be a threat.

If this guy really believes what he just said it's really sad.

Darkfall is a big threat to most developers. Since it's really hard to give freedom in a mmo.

And you should read about the game before talking. You don't seem to know much about it. Not even the years of development.

WoW took more than 5 years to develop with a much bigger developteam than Darkfall got.

Its no big secret that Darkfall concept is a huge threat to established MMORPG games. The race for subs is always arround and Darkfall will snatch alot more subs then you seems aware of, if game delivers. Saying as you do that Darkfall isnt a threat to anything just informs me of your total lack of insight in the game Darkfall. If Darkfall delivers youre in for the surprice of your life.

It will not just be just about any PvPer that ever played a MMORPG or intended to play one. Loads of RPG:ers is already set for the game and more will come. Players mainly interested in PvE will choose Darkfall as their next MMORPG game. Any idea how many PvP:ers there is that is completely tired of a game like WoW? Im not sure, but there is alot of them. If AoC dont deliver there will be a huge empty space in the MMORPG world to fill and i think Darkfall will fill it just nicely.

And try get your facts straight before pulling numbers out of the blue. 2003 was the startdate of serious development. Where did you get 8 years from?
Darkfall was initially started by the company Razorwax, but after nearly completing the game, Aventurine took over after being impressed by their product. With the additional resources Aventurine could offer, the decision was made to pretty much reconstruct the game from the ground up.

This means, Darkfall has only really been under development since Aventurine acquired it, which is about the same amount of time as other major MMOs (AoC and WAR).
Otherwise we could say TR only took 3 years since they decided to rewrite it completely

Had to reduce your post to the truly relevant points, the largest of course being, "if the game delivers"

I don't know where all this "Threat" talk came from.  Darkfall will not be a threat to anything. If and When Darkfall comes out -- people will still play other games.  It doesn't threaten the balance of the way games will be currently.  What it will be is a breath of fresh air that someone is trying something "new".  Eventually everyone gets tired of playing the same games over and over again so this will be a nice change of pace.

Will this forever change why WoW became so popular or why so many people copy the model? Noway. It'll just be a fun game ------ or not a fun game, really it's way to early to tell------- but it's "different" to that we should all be able to agree.

Prove it? Why dont you read up on the game abit before making such statements? Cant understand people that have no faith in there fellow man, why should Darkfall developers lie about something like this? And whats your intention by making such a statement? Only reason for it is to downtalk the game Darkfall and its developers. And i wonder why? Seems youre a EvE fan, so why dont you keep to that game and site instead of acting out youre negativism on the Darkfall board?

A quote from the Darkfall Developers concerning the reason they moved to Greece, read and learn - Article is from 26/1 2007 and they been in full production for 3 1/2 years, do the math yourself.

http://df.warcry.com/news/view/68059
Tasos Flambouras: Aventurine was originally formed to fund and publish Darkfall. The development team was in Norway, at the time it was four developers working on design, concepting, and prototyping. While working with Razorwax to put the development team together we realized how high the operating costs, and the cost of living is in Norway. We decided to move our activities to Greece under Aventurine to get more game for our money. It took a while to organize and assemble the team and to get into full production which started about three and a half years ago. Aventurine was now developing the technology, the tools, and the game. At the time this project started there was no technology available that would allow us to do what we wanted, so everything had to be made from scratch.
I doubt you will see this as proof since it just written by the Darkfall developers? Its a matter of faith you know, and trust.

Sure i can discount the time before the companies emerged into Aventurine. Or do you call 4 developers in a basement in Norway with no equipment for a developer team for a game like Darkfall? Just read what Tasos informs us about the game, and personnaly i do believe the Darkfall developers alot more then i believe in a none fanbois like you with a huge lack of information as well.

And to be honest the Darkfall approach on their game is much more promising then most other games with a timelimit to fulfill whether the game is ready for it or not. They can selfpublish and take their sweet time before putting the game on beta and release. No investors is breathing down their necks, thank god.

The developers said in late 2003 that beta would begin in one month. In 2004 , they said beta was about to begin. In 2005 they said beta was about to begin and had signups and everything.

So obviously they didn't start over in 2003.

You believe the devs , who have been lying about beta for 5 years straight. That really makes no sense AT ALL.

And that's your argument for all? Get over it, you are not the only one who were dissapointed. It's not something rare in this business. And they have told the community that they have learned by their mistake. Accept the apologies or move on.

It is pitty that people find satisfaction by misbehaving on a gaming site.
