Is it their communities and social interaction? Nope. Is it large persistent worlds? Nope. Is it the stories they tell? Bioware said that the lost cornerstone of MMOs is story? Nope. MMOs have huge time sinks, they send you on meaningless quests to slaughter the local animal population. They are advertised as the ultimate social experience where you can interact with other players yet their communities are just as bad as the one in League of Legends or DOTA games. Elitism is at its best, it may even come to the heights of Call of Duty. MMOs offer large persistent worlds which are devoid of life and you end up playing in an instance when you reach the "endgame". Even when you are in the persistent world there is very very little social interaction and there is nothing, absolutely nothing massive about MMOs. In fact the only massive thing about MMOs is their ignorance in thinking they are more than simple multiplayer games with a sub with massive time sinks to keep you playing. The one and only cornerstone of MMOs is REPETITION! MMOs make you do the same thing over and over and over and over again and they call it content. Yet it is all just a big hoax to keep you subbed. If there wasn't repetition in MMOs, they would not exist because they would be no point to charge a sub and they would just be your regular multiplayer game. |

You guys really need to start playing something other than EQ/WOW-style MMOs. Oh wait... all those other games aren't real/true/genuine/proper/etc MMOs. nm

AND THUS THE TRUTH HATH BEEN REVEALETH UPON US!
But seriously. You are right. Yet it only goes for pre-made content and not for the sandboxy player-made content people entertain themselves with in EVE's sovereignity wars, to give an example. |

I drive to work every weekday. I get a paycheck every other week on Friday. I go shopping to buy same / similar foods. I whine about the good old days in MMOs and how SANDBOWKZ ARE BETTAR TEN TEEMEPHARKES EVERYDAY IN EVERY THREAD ON THIS SITE EVERRR!11!
Repetition! Oh shit, repetition everywhere! It's raining fucking repetition all over the place brah! Al Roker's got your forecast this week: Repetition with a 100% chance of repetition! It's coming, bro!
Probably the biggest revelation of this vile repetition occurrence?
