That is people visiting the pages, that is not paying memberships. I am curious to know how many paying memberships they have had 2006- 2008.  Many  unsatisfied customers still visit their pages . LOL Many members cancelled their memberships as well, That is why Unless you have the actual memberships numbers from 2006-2007 it is impossible to tell how many players quit.

I think you misunderstood. We agree with you. I would like to see the numbers because I think Jagex was downplaying the actual number losses. I think the numbers were much higher than what they have stated because of the sheer number of people that  I know that left. I do not think that the bots were the majority of the membership loss. I disagree with that because most bots were nonmember bots, the majority of the membership loss was in actual law abiding players. Parents, families, clans, and organizations massively quit at the same time, and many more in the months that followed the updates. They are still receiveing losses due to players that have left and come back to find their game in ruins. There are still feeling membership losses from this because some players tried to stick it out and are finally giving up. They will continue to have this loss for a while to come.

Though they will never turn over these numbers publicly, it would be  nice to see how many new memberships and cancelled memberships they have had through the last 2 years, to have  a better understanding of exactly how much this was and when it happened. Though you and I both know that it was severe, and the majority of it happened when the updtes were announced and implemented. They attempted to counter this at the same time with new memberships due to excessive advertising, and PR events, though I think that in itself will not solve their problems due to the fact they only try to get players in the door, not keep them.  Once they get them in the door they treat them so badly they leave. They have a high turnover rate, but not long term players anymore.

They didnt fire their old CEO. The old CEO still works in another position in the company, and the *new* paypal  CEO Geoff was appointed around the same time they ruined staking [a few months b4 dec '07].

While I fully support the way Devilliscious has been doing her best to help make Jagex learn to respect players and take a refreshed look at trying to fix properly the many failures that they keep creating I also feel she got very stressed from what to me is recognised semi-professional spammers that do anything for an arguement, my advice (if you choose to accept it) is to take a break so you can relax - remember stress is a major cause in the increasing levels of cancer and many other major diseases.

The most important thing first to remember is too much time playing any game on computers means a lack of activity and sunlight so leads to bad health and will shorten your life for sure. Oh Devilliscious, sorry but you are wrong with bots just in F2P as I got so sick of the huge numbers preventing me from killing blue dragons in Ogre Dungeon for hides to craft that I had to devise ways to cheat against them and ruin the way they were programmed, how the bots did this was pure rangers with no other stat or else high level accounts they had hacked with software while also finding peoples bank account online passwords. Good security on your computer is a must so learn not to give even a good friend you password or let friends look over your shoulder when playing and keep decent antispyware installed.

Ok, that update graphics! Why is it harder to see the fires you light and also harder to see when the ore reappears in rocks. The mine out from Al Kahid where people range scorpions I found it rediculous seeing arrows on my poor skiller. The overall detail I find worse than before as I used to like the clear defined areas and objects, even that fog seems to be rediculous especially as where I live we are renowned for being a foggy township - let us see a lot further than that like we used to see.

The graphics type arguement fails both ways as Java played from the computer fails for a great many since most computers have low internal memory which is more likely than having a useless graphics card but I do realise many out there have more money than sense so think because they have a powerful computer then everyone else does aswell!  Remember many parents still have the common sense to limit their children to only a couple of hours playing these games so have consideration for them too!

Now how many are really playing at any time, I no longer believe Jagex or their Mods at all. I got sick of how the trade restrictions wiped my bank collection to about a quarter of it's value, also how now I can only get about 1/5 to 1/4 of the items that I used to when doing anything like woodcut lvl92 and mining lvl83 where I can't even collect willow logs or coal nearly as fast as when I was about level 35 - 40 or so at them and before I gave up I even found that the amount of '0' hits when fighting happened a hell of a lot more. I tried to join the complaints in Forums at RS about this and found so many true threads disappeared, I also had to renew membership soon and found prices still going up a lot when the Dollar here had improved a lot against the US$. When I got sick of this I complained via the main page complaints and mods replied totally denying this and also said the game was cheaper than ever and if the $US improved then the membership would become cheaper, strange how a Mod from forums replied here then my next reply got another fool Mod backing his bad maths up. Now they really annoyed me by telling huge lies so I reported it directly to Jagex and the same mods replied again further trying to support their lies - it was just after that they finally put up a comment on the main page to say for once they were increasing charges for membership. The game isn't fair when they control even our free speech this way!!! Imagine how false the the number of players must be and also now I hear they have dropped the 13 Yr Old restriction trying to replace the many lost players but if they at least helped F2P worlds with improvements to entice a new throng of players to the game then things could improve for everyone!                                     

If you want a crazy comparison to this see Tales of pirates where you need a 5200 video card and I found the grahics ok with it free but then hell, the Item Mall you pay real money for Mall Points where 2000mp is $US99.85 and abid of 3500 I saw for a lv65 sword for 1 type of character, gloves good they bid 6500mp and IGG offered to loan a good armour set you can't get as a drop for 10000mp, why play against a money before brains player to kill you always in the only worthwhile place to aquire good drops that are PVP.

LOL. Thank you for your concern.  I haven't played the game since last fall. I have randomly logged in from time to time to check on the progress of the game but not for more than 15 min at a time. I was never a player than played for long hours at a time, I have a very active social life.  I have no idea why people assume you have to play the game nonstop in order to have high stats, I just staretd the game sooner than most players, and I trained intelligently when I played, rather than waste a bunch of time goofing off and roaming around aimlessly.

You do realize that I work out everyday, and am very fit, and my favorite hobbies are jet skiiing sand volleyball and paintball wars. Edited out Pic to ward off creepy stalkers LOL  I am probably more physically fit than you are. There are still bots on Runescape,  it is just now harder to catch them. If you even attempt to search runescape online you will find the many sites that are now selling fully loaded accounts, and training accounts for players. This did not stop them, they are still doing it, just they are not all level3's now. I am fully aware that there were bots, and are bots, nothing really has changed there, just now they are much higher levels than they were before. I agree everyone should have good security, even though people still get hacked when their computer or password was not compromised by anyone they knew. I had a friend of mine that was a programmer tell me that there is currently a program that mounts runescapoe itself and guesses passwords, so even if you  your computer and password are secure always be sure to bank your valuables before logging out. Though there are currently programs that  can break the bank pin, I believe your computer must be compromised in order for them to work. But they can get onto your account with that program, just not break the bank pin. I also suggest you keep track of your ip when you log in, so that inc ase your account has been compromised you can let them know which IP addresses are yours and which do not belong to you.

I agree with all of your comments after that.  I too have seen many good threads disappear, and as it seems to me  they only want their players to see what they want them to see and do not want them thinking for themselves at all. It is crazy how they run their forums. It is just sad what they have done to this game.
