Is the gameplay and the runescape 'feeling' still the same or has everything been revamped?

I miss having to struggle through that wolf riddled mountain to get to the other side just to pick flax to turn into bowstrings. And i miss all the co op mini-games and such.

I know the graphics have been updated, is that all really? 

It's mostly been the same in actual gameplay mechanics, but there's a big patch coming up soon that's gonna change the battle system entirely. It's going to shift to a more traditional combat system with hotbars, cooldowns, and a bar that builds to use special skills. 

But the game still has that sense of progression you talked about, how doing certain quests unlocks new areas/shortcuts, how you can focus entirely on crafting and not on combat. Minigames are still there, and most have been improved over the last few years.
