Am I the only one (god I say that too much) who thinks the combat kind of sucks.
Light Sabers can cut through bulkheads but not body armour?
People take way too many blaster hits to survive.
The Jedi displayed no force abilities.
Enemies on fire still fight back.
Takes several blows with a light sabre to take down a stunned enemu.
Cover mechanic is only with one class.
And so on.

wlvnspectre, to answer your question no it's not odd. One thing you have to remember is that this is an MMO not real life. Character damage is measured to character health, it's the MMO standard, if everyone was able to slice and dice with one hit kills it would be much fun on the receiving end specially in PVP.

Ok, so they made a single player game online to make some more money. What makes this a MMORPG? For being online? Meet other people before you load into a area where you go on with the story? And it seems a bit stupid. So I kill that dude, then what? Will the world change? NO, just in that mission. How fun is that in a MMORPG? BOOO!

these videos are actually changing my complete hyper nerdism for this game to deciding I DON'T like it. I thought the KOTR games were the BEST games I had ever played.
And you don't have to have a health bar with 1000 points on it. If they wanted combat to last long they could have setup a "personal shield" and crits simply are shots that make it through the shield. that's far more believable than 50 blaster shots to the head and you walk away to the next fight.
that art is also... not to my liking. back to the KOTR, the settings they had were just breath taking and the combat was oh so very visceral. i would think you'd take the best from a game, not dumb it down. uggg

That's a shame. The game really looks quite awful from these videos, and I had high hopes from Bioware. Unless they redeem themselves, I won't even be trying this game.

I'm trying to reserve judgement on SWTOR. I'm not particularly keen on the graphics style, but I'm keeping an open mind that the typical Star Wars feel (e.g. the music, fluidic and fast paced action) will over-shadow that aspect. To me, this video makes me feel like SWTOR is just like any MMO out there and therefore perhaps isn't doing the game justice.
