Yes, I am a SWG vet. If any of you were on Chilastra, I was Ashtara, the one and only female lizard in the entire world -- which made it kind of interesting over all. I loved the game, and at this point, I think SOE is never getting a penny more of my gaming dollars, although I did go play EQII for a while, and give them various other chances. The rootkit was the last straw, I think.
But I love Bioware and I love Star Wars -- so, why wouldn't I have a pre-order in? I was in the weekend betas. I've been registered on the web site for years. I shopped for guilds ages ago. I've followed the news on the game since announcement.
I haven't put in a pre-order. First, I think the launch is going to be bad. The stress tests on the servers were pretty godawful. I don't care if I'm at level cap fast -- I'm not a PvPer primarily. I suspect I might be heading for a PvE/RP server, which could still involve some PvP, but I can wait and catch up as things settle down.
Also as is noted in or Coyote's hilarious article of this date, there's going to be a crapton of n00bs in this game, and I want them to get put through the crucible by others. I have enough "get off my lawn" stimulous as an older gamer living in a college town. I don't need a new game with a bunch of untried fresh meat to teach manners. I don't mind the ones that need help, it's the ones that are beyond help.
Finally, my suspicion is, I'll pay $20 less for the game a month after launch, and that will be nice. I'll be busy with real life over the holidays. Hey, I have a life these days. Wait what?
Good luck, Bioware, it's your first MMO launch. First one. That's going to be a ride through hell, just by itself -- and your numbers say, it's the biggest MMO launch ever. You have a high potential to make Funcom look really good for a change.

If if this game isn't perfect I joined because I know there will be players....
My only rant on this game is the Customer Service. I don't know the hours of their customer service.
I can't remember one of my secret questions and I have not been able to get in the game two days after early access and bioware hasn't returned any of my emails through that goofy protocol droid.
