  • Novel Trailer Released

    In a second update to the Star Wars: The Old Republic site, devs have announced the release of a new trailer based on the upcoming Old Republic novel "Deceived" by Paul S. Kemp. The book is scheduled to hit store shelves on March 22nd but fans can whet their collective appetite with the trailer revealing a bit of history about Darth Malgus.

  • Gordon Walton Leaves Bioware

    Industry veteran, Gordon Walton, has left Bioware-Austin. Walton was formerly the vice president and co-general manager of the studio that is working on Star Wars: The Old Republic. According to reports, Walton is now working for social games developer, Playdom, as an executive producer.

  • Following the Blazed Trail

    In a speech given at today's DICE Summit (Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain), BioWare's Greg Zeschuk called Blizzard's World of Warcraft the "touchstone" for Star Wars: The Old Republic and for Bioware. WoW has "established the standards" for MMOs today and breaking those standards is "pretty dumb", according to Zeschuk.

  • Building Flashpoints

    Last week, Star Wars: The Old Republic developers released a terrific video featuring "flashpoints", dynamic areas of the Star Wars universe that demand groups of players to battle forces a single person could not hope to overcome. This week, the official site has been updated by Bioware World Designer Jesse Skye discussing what Flashpoints are, the development and building of Flashpoints, and some of the combat aspects that Flashpoints will bring to the game.

  • EA Stock Prices Jump

    While EA's profits have deepened to over $300 million dollars, its stock price jumped nearly 16% largely due to encouraging words from CEO John Riccitiello. As reported yesterday, Riccitiello predicted decent profits for Star Wars: The Old Republic with a modest subscriber base of 500,000. It appears that, based largely on this statement, EA's stock soared.

  • 500k to Turn a Profit

    According to a new report based on a conference call with EA's CFO Scott Brown, Star Wars: The Old Republic will turn a modest profit with a mere half-million subscribers. Brown offered this assessment despite recent statements that SWTOR has incurred 'significant' development costs. Brown went on to say that anything higher than a million subscribers would bring in significant revenue.

    According to website MCVUK.com, sources have told them that the game should be anticipated for a September 2011 release.
