A new planet joins the roster of planets announced for Star Wars: The Old Republic. Today, the planet Balmorra was unveiled, along with four new screenshots and pieces of concept art.
Details on Balmorra below:
BALMORRA: ON THE EDGE OF ALL-OUT WAR
Few places in the galaxy have seen the peace promised by the Treaty of Coruscant so thoroughly cast aside as the world of Balmorra. Fiercely independent, this long time ally of the Republic has led the galaxy in advanced droid and weapons manufacturing. Now Balmorra’s workers live and suffer under a full Imperial occupation force.
Soon after Balmorra was colonized, in the infancy of the Republic, it became a haven for some of the most prolific manufacturers of fearsome weaponry and battle droids in the known galaxy. These terrible military assets, combined with the planet’s strategic location close to the Core Worlds, kept Balmorra in a constant state of war. Setting its sights on the weapons of war manufactured on the planet, the Sith Empire resolved to take Balmorra, and in answer the Galactic Republic sent soldiers to aid the Balmorrans in their fight to preserve their independence.
As the war tore on and continued to spread, the strained Republic could no longer afford to spend its forces on Balmorra. Wave after wave of Republic troops were pulled off of the world for redeployment elsewhere in the galaxy, until finally, in accordance with the Treaty of Coruscant, the Republic was forced to officially end its support of Balmorra. A small, underground Republic force was left on the planet to aid their Resistance, but the Balmorrans knew the truth of it; they had been abandoned. Even so, the Empire was still unable to take full control of Balmorra.
Now, years after the treaty, a regrouped and rebuilt Republic is testing the limits of their fragile peace with the Empire, sending back the reinforcements they had pulled off the planet years before. Although the Balmorrans are accepting of Republic help, they do little to hide their resentment at having been abandoned years before. Meanwhile, the Sith Empire is escalating their presence on the planet, determined to claim Balmorra’s weapons, and put an end to this conflict once and for all.
The planet's description as well as its independent status has lead many players on the official forums to speculate that Balmorra may be a PvP-focused planet.
We've added the new Balmorra screenshots and concept art to our Star Wars: The Old Republic gallery, check 'em out here.
Outstanding with a new planet! Hopefully they'll add alot more!
(Dances with cute Tw'liek dancer...AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH...keeps dancing)
That screenshot looks better than anything I've seen yet concerning TOR. But wait, I thought the graphics were supposed to suck! I can't believe they're improving. The game is so far in development that I figured the graphics would be finalized by now.
Oh, yeah. Cool planet, too.
I don't really think it's an improve in graphics, the world graphics/detail have always been this good, and are equivalent across the board, it's the character models (atleast Human) that look a bit too cartoony.
Yeah, their world graphics look great, and I do mean great. But their humans do look...rough. Hands way to big, faces are kinda meh, hair seems almost anime like in places.
Last I remember, Balmora looked like this.
Also, don't forget each planet has a short video...
Balmorra one wasn't working for me so here is a link.

You know.. all these planets reminds me of Tabula Rasa Landscapes, saying that.. Tabula Rasa was a really good game while it was alive..

The TF2 community is pathetic.
They think it's the greatest game ever but don't give a shit how inbalanced it is.
Only five out of the nine classes are moderately useful, the competitive community is terrible, and the game is outdated as hell.

I just like the sig, I don't actually play the game as of the sniper/spy addition, anyways, when you compare the face of the TF2 chars to the SW:TOR, I'd have to say that in terms of being the better "cartoon" I'd pick TF2 face models.
However, seeing as how I can post this stuff at the SW:TOR forums but not here, I will bring my graphical related comments over there.
TF2 has only one good thing.
Demoman.
On topic: The graphics of the world have allways looked like this, and yes, a new planet is a great addition to this game. However, about character models... I just would love to know which races are playable and so. Dont really mind how they look. Massive lightsabers suck tho'.
so its a manufacturing plant in the outer rim?
Sounds decent enough and it does look like it will be a/the PvP planet.

if you cant find a use for all teh classes you scuk at teh game, period.
Thanks, was wondering why the name sounded that familiar as it didn't sound familiar in a Star Wars way to me at first.
Anyway, anyone found out, seen details in how to get on the different planets?
Every time I see an outdoor screenshot of this game, it is apparent that you are going to be funneled around the game world by "walls" such as mountain formations. This is how Conan played/felt, and I hated it.
