    As part of the emerging financial picture given by EA during its latest investor report, it has been revealed that Star Wars: The Old Republic is at its highest subscription level in the past three years. It is likely that interest in SWTOR spike in the final quarter of 2015 due to the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

  • Laundry List of Crafting Changes Detailed in New Dev Post

    The Star Wars: The Old Republic site has been updated with along, detailed post from Bioware's Eric Musco. In it, Musco lays out all of the massive changes coming to crafting with the v4.1 update. The goal, Musco writes, is to make crafted gear an effective alternative to gear earned in Missions and Operations, including a new tier that will be the highest craftable gear in the game that does not require exotic materials to complete.

  • Eternal Championship Solo Challenges Introduced

    The January Star Wars: The Old Republic Producer Live Stream took place on Thursday and the community team has posted a nice wrap report that includes some interesting nuggets of information including the Eternal Championship, a solo challenge of ten encounters that counts towards weekly missions reward progress, can include rare drops and a Recruitment Mission for a new companion named Bowdaar.

    The first in a series of seven chapters from the Star Wars: The Old Republic expansion called Knights of the Fallen Empire will launch on February 11th. Called "Anarchy in Paradise", the content expansion will introduce a new ally named Firebrand.

  • KotFE Free Through January 4 For Former Subscribers

    Former Star Wars: The Old Republic subscribers are being invited back by Bioware to check out Chapter 1 of the Knights of the Fallen Empire expansion. From now through January 4 former subscribers who opt-in for an e-mail newsletter will instantly receive a level 60 character that can begin Chapter 1, "The Hunt", for free.

    Star Wars: The Old Republic is turning four this year and Bioware has revealed some pretty awesome anniversary gifts for players including the ability to purchase Coruscant or Dromund Kaas Strongholds for a mere 4 Credits.     Bioware's Michael Backus has written an extensive post on the Star Wars: The Old Republic site to let players know that their voices have been heard with regard to recent changes to the way companions were buffed when Knights of the Fallen Empire launched last month. In it, Backus details why changes were made, but acknowledges that "we didn't realize how with Knights of the Fallen Empire gameplay had evolved."
