I would say I am not surprised that they would want to quit because of fan negativity. SWTOR "fans" venom could kill every body.

Maybe they shouldn't have made a shitty game. I don't feel bad for them. Not one damn bit. |

All the troubles started when they joined EA. There could have been no negativity if they were not with EA. EA are the root cause

The total failure of swtor is what drove them out. All I can say is if you make a pos game and folks complain about it, and the devs dont listen that is their fault. We told them how bad it was in beta. The way I see it if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen. I don't blame them for leaving, best to do it before the ship sinks and before it goes free to play.

Originally posted by Sevenstar61 That will still not make the game stay active, unless when it goes F2P, you are willing to spend $1000 per month in the cash shop, to carry those taking it for a free ride. If it was not a failure, the game would be getting expansion packs and stuff, as promised, and end up being a better game, all that the game will get now is stuff that was already written, and spoon fed every 6 weeks. Star Trek Online never had any promises of expansions, but it keeps getting content added, on almost a weekly basis, and they are expanding their dev team, and have recently taken on devs from Paragon Studios. Now that is a game on the up and up. Not exactly a success, but not a failure as they are constantly updating and expanding it. In my own eyes it is a success, but not a success for mass popularity Star Trek Online - Best Free MMORPG of 2012 |

Or .. it was that Muzyka and Zeschuk were used to calling the shots in their games to ensure they were of the highest quality.
When EA got on board, EA started calling the shots, cutting corners, and releasing the game early. EA then proceeded to fire people the people Muzyka and Zeschuk came to respect as game creators / designers. The doctors probably were disgusted at what was happening, spent the time that their sales contract said they had to spend with EA, then they left. They left at the same time no less, which seems more like a contract obligation now expiring.
They were probably just counting the minutes. Want a nice understanding of life? Try Spirit Science: "The Human History" |

Its unfortunate but they just had to go back to their roots. I know its harder than it sounds since a behemoth like EA will want you to make a super accessible game for everyone to play, but when your game gets off track only the die hard fans that you let down will be there to throw rocks at you and the casual folks will move on to the next thing. Gaming is a brutal industry.....

Originally posted by Sevenstar61 That should have been in months ago, with 1.2, they are just spreading content out to keep players playing, as can not afford to create new stuff now Also all that content is what you have to pay for. Me personally am not interested in Operation and Warzones, it is just more of the same. Star Trek Online - Best Free MMORPG of 2012 |

Originally posted by superniceguy So... the only game which has to have unlimited content or be hated is SWTOR. Show me any game that released within one year that does not have problem with content after 9 months after release. People burn through content and get bored. Normal in every MMO. Play other game until content arrives. Simple as that.

Originally posted by Sevenstar61 Folks burnt through the content because there was not much of it. Before I quit I had 4 50's on the emire side and 4 toons variying from mid 20's to low 40's on the republic side and all that in under 3 months. From what I understand there will not be any new story for your characters and that is what was cool the story for each class, but they are no longer going to do that. That leaves you with very little content and replayability. Not to mention most of the operations used to be very very buggy. I will point at rift, and other games that are still not free to play yet. Swtor had a mass exodus and it is still bleeding subs. Is this the doctors fault, or ea's fault. I don't know all I know is the game was not well done, and you dont put hard end point in the game if your going to keep growing. |

We can speculate all we want about the real reason to why the two doctors left. All in all, I would like to think that it was a little bit of everything.
They may have thought it was a great idea to have the backing of EA at the time. What could go wrong right? But that's the problem with greedy publishers. THEY are the ones that want to call the shots. And EA is notorious for it. Don't believe me? Look at what happened to Westwood Studios, Earth and Beyond, Command and Conquer (the Kane series). All of them either were dissolved or the games SUCKED because EA just HAD to get their hands in the pot.
And this is evident by the Mass Effect 3 backlash and the Dragon Age 2 debacle. Do I personally feel wronged by what happened? As a former loyal fan of Bioware, yes. Because I believed in what Bioware stood for.
I can imagine how much it hurt to feel so much of that backlash from the fans that believed in you at one time. That praised your name on high because you proved to them what it meant to care about your followers. And then EA steps in and takes that all away.
I think, as I said, that it is a combination of everything and it just all came to a head for the doctors.
Just my 2 cents. |

Originally posted by Sevenstar61 There has not been any real new content to SWTOR since 1.1 until 1.4. Makeb was already done beforehand. What do you think took them all these years to do. They said when the game created they had about 2 years worth of content already done, ready to implement to feed the masses. Their plan was to add Operations / Flashpoints / Warzones with each new update. They have been vacant in 1.2 and 1.3 The main problem though is the game is just not expanding. What you see is what you get. LOTRO had no housing, skirmishes etc to start with, that got added later, expanding the game SWG had no vehicles, space, player cities, chronicles system, Heroics etc when it got released, it got added later expanding the game STO had no ability to see your insides of your ship to begin with, at first it was your bridge, then the rest of the ship, then they added Duty Officers you could see in your ship and interact with. If this was SWTOR, none of those MMOs would have gotten all those features, just the content / more story. What would be good in SWTOR would be for them to make your ship like a house so you could put stuff in it, and operate a shop, or maybe a story creator or maybe a Beast master profession, but that is not going to happen, because the game can not be expanded upon Star Trek Online - Best Free MMORPG of 2012 |

Originally posted by Sevenstar61 Well there were other games with content 9 months after release, but even in the case of WoW and EQ, their player base didn't suffer immensively. WoW was adding stuff for instance (back in their glory days before Activision).
That data though is immaterial, since you said people get bored and play other games. This is true, but people are not returning to SWTOR, and this directly relates to EA's lying and abuse of their customers. Rated Battle grounds to come out in 1.2 .. nope day before, no it's not, just kidding! .. Well, time will tell. BioWare was always about story and I hope that story it is what they will deliver... I have to say that I prefer to get story 1000x more then bousing etc. And I am willing to wait for it.
