Hi. I have a really wierd problem with swtor. When i walk/run around in the bigger forrest areas i get really "choopy" animations. Its like the game freezes for a mili second every few seconds, in sense it seems that i miss parts of the walking/running animation. Whats really wierd about this, is that it dosent happend during pvp arenas or combat. It only happens during walking/running/using quicktravel "mounts" in thoose types of areas(in the mount part it seems like the game freezes for a mili sec every few seconds. It can easily be confused with lagg) #My rig# Screen :Acer 24" LCD P246HBD RAM:Corsair XMS3 DHX DDR3 1333MHz 4GB CL9
P.S I've heard rumors about the game beeing problematic on AMD systems.

Anyone out there with a real solution? |

Actually, his/her recommendations are legit, at least as far as Leatrix is concerned. I've used it in the past when raiding in WoW, and it helped tons. I think they were offering you some gamer-community driven solutions, and not trying to scam you at all. |
Originally posted by BartDaCat Hmm. Sorry, but these days its pretty hard not to be sceptical about these things. Alot of scammers/phishers out there in forums doing everything they can to lure people. And when someone misspells memory[ram] and chucks up some downloading links, you get suspicious. I for my are thinking this problems lies more in the gamefiles/gamesettings department or maby drivers/hardware. But i dont know, maby someone with a similar problem or and idea what i might be can help out :]

I still think that the hero engine is at fault but thats just my own view. |

nha it isnt just the hero engine they sacrificed fps for ram because this game like a lot of game is limited to 32 bit.this is hard to explain but say you can gain 20 fps with one setting but by gaining 20 fps you ll need 200 mb say!game like these have ton of decision they made like this they could revert those to say the 20 fps and loose 200 mb of ram but maybe they just couldnt and had to live with this or maybe they didnt want to go there!(since a lot of option offered were by gpu maker themsleves. nope on most occasion gpu maker didnt decide what to use they just suggested possible option .with the result we asee now .bad fps at best of days! |

Originally posted by kiiix I had the same problem, make sure all your drivers are updated, then in game set all your video setting to MAX hit apply then back to low, hit apply, what this seens to do it jump start the video driver, there is some type of bug that this game has with ATI and this seems to be a temp fix, or untill they apply a large patch that seems to reset it back to default.
Try that out. |

Your problem sounds a bit like micro-stutter, something AMD cards are well known for. I haven't had an AMD card for years so i wouldn't know a fix but i'm sure your google-fu would be up to the task. The leatrix latency fix is also of dubious use with win 7. All it does is disable nagles algorythim, which is good for small packets and bad for large. Windows 7 is far more efficient at determining optimal packet size to maximize thruput without too much packet loss. That does help for older mmo clients, specificly wow, on vista and older. Not sure if it would help in this case.
I would run swtor.exe in win xp sp3 mode to utilize win 7 better memory managment and disable shadows.

turn the "shader" setting to low or none. |

Setting shadows to low fixed this issue for me. |

I've got this setup: AMD Phenom II X4 965 ATI Radeon HD 5870 1gb 8GB ram Some random 7200 RPM HDD
Game runs smooth at high settings even with shadows turned on, I do however turn shadows off to have stable fps in every zone/warzone. |
