I'm trying to figure out when I will be able to get my last name through the legacy system. All they say is when chapter 1 ends. So when does it end? Is it a certain level, or a certain quest on a certain planet? I have yet to find a difinitive answer for this.

You do your starter world, then the captial planet quests, then a class quest, then 4 more planets and then end chapter 1 with a class quest..

Around I believe the trooper chatper end quest was level 32.

It ends when you finish your class quests *after* Alderaan (Imperial side), around level 30-32 depending on how much side-questing you do. You won't get a definitive answer because every class storyline is different, and just like getting your ship, there's no set 'level' for it. 

There's a finale to each act that's pretty hard not to notice...plus you get an in-game mail and an on-screen pop-up, so it's not like you'll miss it.

I've pretty much forgotten where the first act ends on Republic characters, hopefully someone else can help you out there.

So it's after my last class quest on Alderaan?
