OP  1/18/13 7:15:06 AM#1

So I Downloaded this game yet again to check it out after months went by since I last checked out the game, and to me the game still sucks not even worth the money that was put into the game for development of this game I could have done better and instructed my developers to do better. Seriously EA/Bioware needs to let go some employee and get some people in there who can actually make people want to pay in a F2P Game.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

1. When I logged into the game the first thing I did was check the cash shop, and I see gamble items in there already I would honestly rather just pay for my items than purchase gamble packs or have that option to do such.

2. Lack of Customization still since Beta. I logged into the game I checked under the Equipment Tab I believe it was key (C) I was not able to find any Cosmetic Options for my starwars avatar other than hide helm, and show darkside, or customize a lightsabers color?

Hey man I want PINK Clone Armor, and the ability to customize form LEVEL 1.

3. No Recustomization options at least that I was able to find in the UI, now there maybe a NPC that does this in game I don't know but I was not able to find a FREE Recustomize appearance option in game, as a paying subscriber If I decided to pay the monthly FEE I should have the ability to this for FREE.

Come on this is 2012, not 1991, and not 2000 when these options did not exist in a lot of games.

If I had to compare StarWars to other MMO's I have played that offer customization I can.

1. Runes OF Magic.

2. Tera

3. EVE Online

4. Guild Wars 2

5. Lineage 2

6. Aion

These are all games where I can freely wear or edit cosmetics on my avatar even at level 1 if I so please to do such. I know that StarWars fits a complete different theme and game, but not having the ability to edit the colors of my armor, wear it as cosmetic  similar to Runes OF Magic which by the way is my favorite cosmetic system in that game its just pathetic it makes me absolutely sick that I can't freely customize and enjoy the game my way.

http://www.swtor.com/free/features

Bioware is just even more pathetic on these features.

1. I want to know how much faster my XP gain is I don't want to hear my XP gain is faster I want to know how much more % I get if I pay your monthly fee and play oyur game.

2. Limit of GUI QuickBars for FREE players couldn't be more serious this is a CLIENT feature all players should have them FREE.

3. Whats the point of WarZone limits for FREE Players?

Their Restrictions are just too steep, and lack of content seriously I thought about trying this game again, I looked it over its not worthit. The only reason I would even play the game is the story line but its not worth doing or my time if I am not going to continue playing.

I really like StarWars  & StarTrek but these MMO's in my eyes are just failures they need better developers who know what they are doing give a customer what they want for their money and reel in the fish, otherwise people like me are not going to stay around for long or pay.

I am currently playing it for the first time "for real" after trying that old free trial up to lvl 15. Now I've got a 60 day sub and I don't have much complaints.

I have to be honest, some parts of the game really feel outdated. The combat, the linearity, animations... especially after coming from playing GW2.

But I also have to be honest, I am having fun. I like the stories and the quest dialogues. I know they don't really mean all that much, but they at least give some context to the stuff you're grinding all over.

I also like SW very much and this is quite a welcome distraction atm.

I imagine that after finishing my storyline (Sith warrior) I might go and try a bounty hunter or a Jedi but that's about it.

This game doesn't offer much in terms of longevity, but so far I'm having fun.

I think that while it does have many flaws, it does get a bit too much hate.

Anyways, to each their own.

1. I agree. Gamble items aren't good.

2. Yes, there is a customization option. It's not a 'dye' option, but a unify colours options so there's at least visual continuity in your gear. You colour lightsabers by finding/making/buying colour crystals - this has been in the game since early beta.

3. I think you're thinking the same thing as the previous. There's many 'costume' gear pieces that have enhancement slots. You can earn/buy 'top end' pvp/pve gear, remove it's stats captured in its enhancements and put it into 'costume' gear if you'd like.

I've barely played the game and found all this stuff already - you need to look a little harder before you start bashing.

I'm back and having fun with this game again. I'm sure this is going to be one of those games where I'll play it for a few months then take a few off and then try it again.

you are correctg in your assessment that there are limitations and many of those limitations are correct.

However I have a counter statment

Wow has no way to dye pink armor( or any other color for that matter). I mean come on, it is 2012 and the most successful MMO of all time cannot change armor colors, so epic fail

Fallen Earth only has limited ability to dy things

In keeping with a star wars theme I'd rather that ANY pink clone troopers be banned. There is a limited cosmetic option in SWTOR to unify colors so that the trooper clown suit no longer happens. I do think however that it needs to be unlocked or is only available to subs, not sure atm.

The steepness of the f2p

1. would it be more enjoyable it I said you are 1% better than f2p in gaining exp? did that all of a sudden change the level of fun in the game? there are game that require stamina, and if your stamina is empty you simply loose out on the extra exp that is awarded. in those games you ahve to purchase potions from their cash shops in order to "level normally".

2. UI bars seems a bit cheep. however for what they are offering you really do not need anymore.  I'm not trying to justify, just saying that it is a minor complaint as bars are easily opened by not even purchasing bars. A 1 time purchase and boom you have more than enough bars. That purchase doesn't even have to be for the bars.

3.the point of limited warzone and space missions is to, in part, stop gold grinders in a f2p game. besides if you read the f2p model it is there to give you the story, not to grind and be leet.

You dont have an appearance tab, but you can customize you armor at the point that at endgame is hard to find 2 people looking the same. And the dye system is coming btw. And maybe you didnt notice it yet, but you cant unlock pretty much everything with ingame money, all you need to do is check  the GTN or auction house in the ¨cartel market Items¨ tab, and is done. Skillbar unlock, Warzones unlock, OPS unlock etc, but i guess is more easy to come to mmorpg.com and qq about why SWTOR sux and will die soon, we have been hearing the same for months and the game so far is alive and still, earning new players and subs everyday.

Pretty much nails it. He didn't like it the first two times he played it so why in the world would he  like it a third time? And all this over PINK ARMOUR? Seriously? You want pink armour in the Star Wars universe? No thanks. Keep that outlandish stuff out please.

Do people really stop liking things for this silly list of reasons? I think they are legitimate wants for a couple, but this post really looks absurd with the extreme adjectives and reactions used when compared against these very minor things. Pink Armour? Really?

Better customization issues to complain about are:

  • You earn the right to select from 3 customizations when you get your first companion, but you can't actually use the customization item you select if you aren't a subscriber.
  • You can't hide your head slot if you aren't a subscriber.
Preferred users can have up to 4 quickbars. That's plenty enough. It only takes $5 in the cash shop to upgrade from free to preferred. If you need more quickbars and don't think the game is worth $5, then play something else.

The warzone and space combat limits definitely annoy me and are major reasons that I'm unlikely to play the game much as a F2P player especially in combination with the reduced XP for non-subscribers. These limits basically force you to level primarily from quests....

The biggest problem I found trying to pick up the game again in the past week is that having gone through the planets more than once already, I just find them to be too boring to repeat. Once I got my new Sith Warrior to Dromund Kaas, I couldn't stand to login anymore because I knew how tedious the game would become from there.

I kind of agree on what you wrote. It certainly is much more objective than the OP. I find the warzone limits are ridiculous forcing people into a specific play style which I do not understand the logic behind it. I agree that the quickbars is a minor thing, especially for preferred from Launch where they should have easily racked up into points to use those to get another quickbar if necessary without spending a dollar.

As far as the planets, im almost totally in agreement. I'm not sure if I would play more than one class on the same side through the planets again, but maybe I would try a Sith because the story is enough of a variation where the duplicate planets would still feel different. Not sure, as I still only have one toon at 47 because I've been playing GW2 and I'm still waiting to see how Bioware fixes if ever the static feel of the world/NPCs/events ets and the lack of social gatherings in the right places. Still hopeful though :-)
