1.) What have they changed since launch? More PvE zones? More dungeons? More PvP? Class balance? Class changes?
2.) What do they sell in the cash shop? Is it all vanity and boosters or can you buy power?
3.) Did they increase performance? The game ran like crap at launch.
4.) Did they balance PvP? Tanks and healers were almost unkillable when I played. |

Originally posted by Raserei If youre in it for PvP just skip SWTOR, PvP is in much worse state than it was at launch, and yes, tank+healer is still pretty unkillable unless whole team focus them (especially operative/scoundrel healers). They have added now 2 warzones but removed open world PvP and its not coming back. It runs a bit better but still nothing to write home about. |

Originally posted by MikeB It keeps getting pushed back though :/ So, given EA's history on giving dates, I would take what they say with polite hesitation.. That could be true for any release dates EA might hint at (ah hem .. HK51 trailers for 6 months anyone?), with the exception for those timelines promised to investors, as in the case of the F2P transition.
It was originally planned to come out January 2013, but when that date was getting too close, it was bumped back a couple months.
GamesCom 2012: Interview with Gabe Amatangelo By Nominiel 8/16/2012 7:06:13 PM http://www.darthhater.com/articles/swtor-news/21321-gamescom-2012-interview-with-gabe-amatangelo Next one, very recent, yesterday The Grand Acquisition Race came online. Anything you can tell about world events? Are they coming more often or, just every few months, every year? Our long-term plan is to get the world events to be really frequent, and we’re going to continue to add them to the game. In the immediate future, we have this one, and then we’ve got another one that is actually going to be – so we’re going to have, what we want to do, is in January, what we’re targeting to do, this may or may not happen, so you can’t hold me to it. But what we’re targeting to do, is have a fun anniversary to the Ilum shenanigans that happened. An alien race might invade, and they might crash into Ilum and there might be some new activities that happen on the planet. We’re targeting that for, January is when we’d like to see it, but we’ll see when it happens, you can’t hold me to that! I know how everyone does, and then I’m going to have the Executive Producer on me saying “you said a date!” and it’s like “no, no” but that is our target, because that’s when we’d like to have it because of the spirit of, and just sort of laughing at what happened.
Mikahr's concerns are shared by many though, mainly because the modified Hero graphics engine used by SWTOR can't handle groups of clustered players very well. In SWTOR, an 8 vs 8 with everyone on-screen will drop FPS down from 60-80 fps down to the 20's, and a 20 vs 20 will turn the game into a slide show. Big massive PVP would lock my PC up, as my comptuer spent all it's cycles loading / writing to a swap file, and it had no time leftover to update the frames. In a majorly released game that came out 8-9 months after SWTOR (that shall not be named), I would get 60 fps or just under in large scale PVP, at least with the same # of enemies as SWTOR would have, for comparison.
TLDR: I'll believe it when I see it.

These events won't be persistent either but would eventually come back weekly or monthly maybe. |

Originally posted by Raserei Is F2P, just try it for yourself. But pretty much everything from the cartel market can be brought with ingame money, and yes, the performance is really a lot better. And tanks and healers unkillable?, no, i never saw that ingame |

It either you bloody well subscribe at least for a few months if u like to play the game or just dont bother. You gotta be really really extremely tolerant patient to be able to play under their f2p conditions from lvl 1 to 50. |

Originally posted by Karteli Hi Karteli... don't ya love me Actually worlds are instanced as well. And the amount of players on each world vary. From my experience the starter worlds have instances of about 100 players per instance. Capital world (Coruscant and Dromund Kaas) have both about 200 players per instance - yesterday I was on Dromund Caas and there were 167 players in second instance. Nar Shadda - around 80-100 players. Not sure about other planets, but I would say about 100-200 players per world. Daily areas... 40 to 60.
Legacy unlocks. They were available for unlock for credits, you did not have to work for them unless you wanted and it only affected races. All other stuff you had to buy for credits, now they added option for cartel coins. You cannot unlock any stuff related to species - you still have to work on them.
Not PvP fan so I am not going to comment PvP.

Originally posted by MikeB Also, another hit to everyones expectations of the new Illum came from a recent interview with Rob Hinkle, Senior Systems Designer for SWTOR. Exclusive Interview: Rob Hinkle at Bioware on PvPhttp://corellianrun.com/2012/12/11/exclusive-interview-rob-hinkle-at-bioware-on-pvp/ Question 11: What is the future of Ilum and world PvP? Rob: Ilum will again become relevant to the game world, though perhaps not in the same way it once was. Want a nice understanding of life? Try Spirit Science: "The Human History" |

Originally posted by Karteli What he really said was that Illum won't come back as a world PVP zone nor there would be any new dedicated PvP zone either. Then he stated world PvP will come back as timed events that eventually will be repeated from week to week or month after month. |

Originally posted by Raserei on number 1, i just resubbed last month and still leveling. So unsure about that as i don't play my two 50's. They added warzones , some ops/flashpoints from what i could tell. Not a new zone for pve from what i could see so far. they sell a lot of power, this is probably the strangest cash shop i've seen in terms of the packs/gear. The people getting screwed right now are the subscribers....lol i've noticed some increased performance but still have to run on low settings while i run borderlands 2, bf3, gw2 on max settings nop prob. healers are still incredibly strong. PvP balance was never disastrous in swtor as in other games. There is so much cc it's just a matter of who has the most cooldowns up. |
