Just wanted to point out that the 5 of the 8 North American gigantor-enormous Mega servers are FULL. I guess undocumented super-high tech upgrades just aren't what they used to be. |

But if you do recall, after the second round of server merges (after GW2 came out) Bioware out o the blue proclaimed that they now had Mega-Servers in anticipation of FTP. This seemed a dubious attempt to campflauge their hemorrhaging subs. Last EA confrence call, EA declined to state how many subs they had. On day one of the FTP launch, the new Mega-Servers filled up instantly. Guess what, they're just normal servers with a slightly raised cap. |

Originally posted by Sevenstar61 What is, making people wait for hours in queue until they arbitrarily decide to magically raise cap? They screwed up once on that same thing already (at launch), except now theres no other server to go to (since its only 1 sever/type) Oh, and servers were super laggy also. Wonder how it will be if they further raise the cap. |

EU servers were okish, Tatooine was desert as usual (that's where I am atm, haven't gone past that yet - started playing last week as I found the full game for less than 9eur), but I experienced some lag spikes. I was surprised to see queues (that I jumped) but after all: by the time f2p'ers leave balmorra (and whatever the republic equivalent is), they'll have to start buying quickbars -> whine -> quit. I'd say that by monday, everything will be back to normal. If not monday.. give it a full week. |

Originally posted by samvenice From what i saw, most of people are fromer subscribers, starting areas werent that much packed. Yah, when they see restrictions (considering they already done story and have to pay for everything in endgame) yah, give it a week or two and everything will be back to normal |

I'm curious tho.. with all this new server technology that EAware as been spreading around.. How many accounts can play on these new Super D Duper Gigantor Enormous Uber servers? Since they KNOW the limit of what labels a server from light to full, why not share that knowledge with the public :) I dare them..

Originally posted by Sevenstar61 If they can increase capacity (without adding servers etc.) then I don't see it as a smart move. When everyone is a subscriber they you already have the money but in a F2P game things are different. OK it could be an attempt to get people to subscribe and avoid the queues but usually a F2P game want people in-game because that is the only way they will spend money.

Originally posted by Whitebeards Saying a server consolidation isn't actually a server consolidation because you are implementing unfillable Mega-Servers in anticipation of FTP and then having those "Mega-Servers" fill to capacity hours into the FTP launch is a double fail. Parse it however you want though. |

Daniel replied stating, “They will not be cross-server as we are coming up on a huge move to servers with massively higher population caps than we have today.”"
"BioWare have commenced testing on the first of their new megaservers: a single server that contains literally every player on the U.S. East Coast. The new megaservers are designed to increase population density, with the eventual aim of retiring the individual servers that make up the current East Coast player base."
"In order to provide a better overall gameplay experience we’re getting ready to introduce new high population server tech that will allow us to significantly increase current server populations."
Mike B. discussing "Mega-Servers" in May: http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/367/feature/6437/Will-TOR-Adopt-Mega-Servers.html
"Following the success of the Free Character Transfer Program, and after closely monitoring server populations, we have now taken the next step in our on-going server population balancing process. We have upgraded destination servers in order to support a significantly higher number of players. As of tomorrow, all characters on origin servers will be automatically moved onto the upgraded high population destination servers." |
