Why on earth didn't BW developers allow Sith players to land on and raid Coruscant or Alliance players to do the same on Druomon Kas? How exctiing, dynamic and player-driven that would have been. |

Because max level players killing people on a starter planet is not fun. |

They could have a max level raidable version if they really wanted to do this, but it soundsl ike they have other, better plans for content like this in the future. |

they could make the noob planets a safe zone, and after if ur ganked by high levels its your own fault for not having the wits to get passed and find another area...or simply just dont roll a pvp realm if ur scared at all, leave the pvp realms to the gankers and people who would wanna raid towns =/ |
Originally posted by Cromica I didn't say starter planets, I said capital cities. If you've ever played Warcraft, you'll know how fun it is raiding an enemy's capital, going up against high level NPC and Player Characters. |

Originally posted by noncley Then go play those games if you want to gank lowbies. They went out of their way to make open world pvp damn near impossible until Ilum so overall this is just something else you can add to the extremely long list of things that makes swtor terrible |

Originally posted by noncley Many differences here. It also depended on when you played WoW. People didn't always hang out in capitol cities. It went through cycles of capitol city and sanctuary depending on the expansion in question and the location's level of convenience. There was also a lot of design problems by Blizzard in doing such activities depending on the location. Certain NPCs were notoriously strong, buggy, or just plain annoying. Saurfang at the front entrance to Org, line of sight issues with guards on the isle and other places in outland, guard levels in capitol cities on an expansion release, etc. They also added achievements and mounts for killing capitol city leaders. Also, people didn't hang out on "capitol" worlds in SWTOR. They hung out on fleet. |

Originally posted by Cromica Who's talking about ganking lowbies? You've obviously never raided Ogrimmar and found yourself fighing epic equipped L85 players and heroic npcs. Seriously, dude. Do some research. |

Originally posted by paroxysm By making it a potential raid target, home teams of high-level players will naturally gravitate there to defend it. |

Originally posted by noncley actually I did. Its you that needs to do some research, once you are done with a planet there is never any reason to go back and people would not just stand around waiting for the opposite faction to attack. Swotr is a lobby game and that lobby is the fleet. |

Because your only allowed to do what bioware wants you to do.
And if you don't like that you just don't get "it". I will not play a game with a cash shop ever again. A dev job should be to make the game better not make me pay so it sucks less. |

lol. Nothing I've seen in this game or the post-release portion of this game 'sounds like' they had anything close to a 'plan.' As far as I can tell, NOTHING was even really thought out. Crafting wasn't thought out. World PvP wasn't thought out. The engine wasn't thought out. The level design wasn't thought out. Guilds and encouraging social interactions (for good or bad) wasn't thought out.

Well all the arguments for and against open world Capitol City attacks are admirable .. but the simple hard facts shows that any attempt would fail miserably just like Illum ...
Because who wants to do open world PVP in a game that drops from 80 FPS to 1-3 FPS whenever there is a 20 versus 20 battle happening. Illum with more than that on my computer would overheat my video card, and spend more time reading and writing to a swap file than actually updating any on screen graphics - eventually it would just lock-up / freeze. No matter how good the game story is, if the engine is bad, it will never be fun.
This game is just not suited for anything "massively" beyond the umm graphical intensity of an instanced operation / warzone... :P
I haven't played WoW in quite a while, but I have to say it's kind of sad that they could do 40 vs 40 in Alterac Valley in 2005 on even an inferior computer (for the time period), while still not hiccupping. Want a nice understanding of life? Try Spirit Science: "The Human History" |
