I suppose I shouldn't complain too much one way or the other, but I was sorta hoping that SW from bioware might be more "Star" oriented as in .... space.

The graphics are, to me, mediocre at best. But then I'm not dazzled by graphics. Gameplay matters far more to me than flashy graphics.

This looks a bit more "lively" than the usual SW:G worlds, but still, wandering across vast zones of territory battling odd looking creatures wasn't what Star Wars was all about for the most part (Barring Luke's encounter with the snow beast in Empire Strikes Back ;)).

This isn't SW the origional trilogy, it's the old republic. They show a couple of pics of a jedi fighting a Ackley and some think that's all it will be.

If my memory is correct, in SWG i slaughtered more helpless animals than i care to remember. People have to just be calm and realize they will get to the space stuff when it is ready.

They said there is so much more that they haven't showed, than what they have.

Sorry if you already know this but the Kotor era of star wars is set hundreds of years before Darth Vader and all that stuff so i think it has a decent excuse for looking different to the 'Star Wars' that many of us know about.

I think its great to see the female characters in full cover armor.  Since playing a lot of fantasy mmo's, a thong, a halter top and thigh high boots counts as full armor.  Not that it's always a bad thing.  But I do hope the game is going to be good, SWG kinda left a bad taste in my mouth.

If they don't provide ships and the ability for your avatar to fly in space, this game is DOA before it even starts.

The Star wars genre will help it limp along, but people just do not flock to FPS type rpg's without any other differentiating feature.

Thank you captain obvious, I am aware that this takes place **Thousands(not hundreds) of years before Darth Vader. I am also aware that they made a KotOR game before this one that looked more realistic and better than TOR, so, that actually gives it no excuse for having some terrible looking "comic" art-style that doesn't fit the Star Wars universe at all.

Kotor 2 - TOR.
How exactly does TOR look cartoony or worse then KOTOR 2?

You can start with the terrain texturing. Notice how KotOR 2(which wasn't even made by Bioware so I don't know why you are comparing that one to TOR) has realistic looking textures on terrain and objects, while TOR looks like it was hand drawn on(because it was, they already said that). Also notice how in TOR every object has an excessive shine to it in places it shouldn't.

KotoR II was made by Obsidian Entertainment, known for Neverwinter Nights 2. They have a close relation to Bioware, but it is technically a different company.

About ToR: I don't think i will play it, i don't like most MMOs that much, and the idea of paying that much even less..but i think the visuals are fine. Bioware was never known for stunning graphics, just for nice.

And i think thats better. More people will be able to play it with less requirements. And usually, when i look at games known for outstanding visual 5 or 10 years later, i think "whoah, thats just horrible", while when i look at a game from the same year which aimed for beatiful, detailed, but not "never seen before" visuals i think "sure, a bit dated, but no reason not to play it".

BioWare refused to do KOTOR2 since LA apparently tried to muscle their way into the production process too much. Least that's what I heard of the reason. not sure, but fact remains, Obsidian Entertainment made KOTOR 2, not BioWare.

Still remains a KOTOR game and the graphics were improved from 1 to 2, and TOR definitly looks better, if being hand drawn on means cartoony then M. C. Escher was a fantastic cartoonist.

The art, detail and attention to executing the style throughout from landscape to characters is amazing.  Personally I feel for those who enjoy this kind of style will be pleasently pleased.  Unfortunately, from a personal stand-point it just doesn't capture the feel of what I think Star Wars is.

Excellent art, and I look forward to seeing how the world is built in such a style, just not my cup of chocolate milk.
