I suppose I shouldn't complain too much one way or the other, but I was sorta hoping that SW from bioware might be more "Star" oriented as in .... space.
The graphics are, to me, mediocre at best. But then I'm not dazzled by graphics. Gameplay matters far more to me than flashy graphics.
This looks a bit more "lively" than the usual SW:G worlds, but still, wandering across vast zones of territory battling odd looking creatures wasn't what Star Wars was all about for the most part (Barring Luke's encounter with the snow beast in Empire Strikes Back ;)).

This isn't SW the origional trilogy, it's the old republic. They show a couple of pics of a jedi fighting a Ackley and some think that's all it will be.
If my memory is correct, in SWG i slaughtered more helpless animals than i care to remember. People have to just be calm and realize they will get to the space stuff when it is ready.
They said there is so much more that they haven't showed, than what they have.
Oh my goodness, they included screenshots of non-jedi!
Anyway, I still think the art style looks like complete crap and nothing like Star Wars is or should be. /sigh
Sorry if you already know this but the Kotor era of star wars is set hundreds of years before Darth Vader and all that stuff so i think it has a decent excuse for looking different to the 'Star Wars' that many of us know about.
I think the new screenshots are a bit of an improvement over the last few.
Character models look a little better. Lightsaber / Hand size look a little less cartoony.
I think its great to see the female characters in full cover armor. Since playing a lot of fantasy mmo's, a thong, a halter top and thigh high boots counts as full armor. Not that it's always a bad thing. But I do hope the game is going to be good, SWG kinda left a bad taste in my mouth.
Oh my goodness, they included screenshots of non-jedi!

Thank you captain obvious, I am aware that this takes place **Thousands(not hundreds) of years before Darth Vader. I am also aware that they made a KotOR game before this one that looked more realistic and better than TOR, so, that actually gives it no excuse for having some terrible looking "comic" art-style that doesn't fit the Star Wars universe at all.

Kotor 2 - TOR. How exactly does TOR look cartoony or worse then KOTOR 2?
Oh my goodness, they included screenshots of non-jedi!

How exactly does TOR look cartoony or worse then KOTOR 2?
You can start with the terrain texturing. Notice how KotOR 2(which wasn't even made by Bioware so I don't know why you are comparing that one to TOR) has realistic looking textures on terrain and objects, while TOR looks like it was hand drawn on(because it was, they already said that). Also notice how in TOR every object has an excessive shine to it in places it shouldn't.

LOL! Kotor 2 was defintily made by BioWare, so was 1. I agree I dont like where their going with the art style in this game, but I can suck it up if it is a good game.
KotoR II was made by Obsidian Entertainment, known for Neverwinter Nights 2. They have a close relation to Bioware, but it is technically a different company.
About ToR: I don't think i will play it, i don't like most MMOs that much, and the idea of paying that much even less..but i think the visuals are fine. Bioware was never known for stunning graphics, just for nice.
And i think thats better. More people will be able to play it with less requirements. And usually, when i look at games known for outstanding visual 5 or 10 years later, i think "whoah, thats just horrible", while when i look at a game from the same year which aimed for beatiful, detailed, but not "never seen before" visuals i think "sure, a bit dated, but no reason not to play it".
Art Style makes this game look like CoH/CoV with a new graphic update with nerf guns and lightsabers thrown in. The graphics aint bad but the heroic body proportions looks a little lame, the male toons look like body builders. Just aint screaming Star Wars.
Also this game is hardly adding anything to the MMO genre. The same shitty point and clicky combat...not thanks. What we need is a FPS style Starwars game.
im personally a huge fan of the graphics in lord of the rings. these grahpics look decent enough to garner my attention to play the game. my huge selling point is character customization at the start of the game. if they do a realy good job and include a bunch of options to customize your character at start, then ill probably be sold.
Oh my goodness, they included screenshots of non-jedi!

KOTOR 2 was made by Obsidian. Learn your gaming history. :)
BioWare refused to do KOTOR2 since LA apparently tried to muscle their way into the production process too much. Least that's what I heard of the reason. not sure, but fact remains, Obsidian Entertainment made KOTOR 2, not BioWare.

Still remains a KOTOR game and the graphics were improved from 1 to 2, and TOR definitly looks better, if being hand drawn on means cartoony then M. C. Escher was a fantastic cartoonist.
The art, detail and attention to executing the style throughout from landscape to characters is amazing. Personally I feel for those who enjoy this kind of style will be pleasently pleased. Unfortunately, from a personal stand-point it just doesn't capture the feel of what I think Star Wars is.
Excellent art, and I look forward to seeing how the world is built in such a style, just not my cup of chocolate milk.
Also this game is hardly adding anything to the MMO genre. The same shitty point and clicky combat...not thanks. What we need is a FPS style Starwars game.
How do you know its point click combat? The devs even said dont think of mmo, think of console actions games in terms of combat.
I cannot say that I like the particular art direction BioWare is taking TOR in. I was hoping for a more dark, imposing, and maybe more realistic (as far as the Star Wars universe is concerned) design. Does anyone find these screenies to be a little, if not completely, cartoonish?
It looks like concept art that came to life. I like it. The real test is how much atmosphere they can pull off. If it's anything like the classic (single player) Jedi Knight games, it'll be a winner.
The shots look very good, imo. If this game turns out as well as I suspect it will -- AND -- is more affordable than WoW, I think it's going to offer some real competition to WoW in the MMO market.

I'm pleasantly surprised.
Good work BioWare.
Am I the only one that sees a huge warhammer banner add covering a big chink of the screenshots?
This isn't SW the origional trilogy, it's the old republic. They show a couple of pics of a jedi fighting a Ackley and some think that's all it will be.

loving it! starting to come together really nicely!
Looking good, I personaly like the art style, I wait patiently for the next batch :)
Where are the droids!?
Not really following this game but those screenshots do look great.
I'm becoming excited in my pants. Makes me wanna go mount Kotor2 in daemon tools and play for a bit!
Looking great ! Keep up the good work Bioware!
Oh my goodness, they included screenshots of non-jedi!

I'm more of a "want to see combat and in-game footage" type of girl, but the screenshots are very nice!
I think the new screenshots are a bit of an improvement over the last few.

cool screenshot
Thank the gods they shrunk the size of the lightsabers.
I like how when you mouseover any shot on MMORPG.com it always says "Earthrise Screenshot"
The pics are nice, they've gone for the slightly stylized look, personally i prefer extreme photo-realistic but these are good.
I love the art direction -nice to see someone with the balls to take on, a more comic-like direction.
but the chicks need a thighter grip on those pistols! :)

If they don't provide ships and the ability for your avatar to fly in space, this game is DOA before it even starts.
The Star wars genre will help it limp along, but people just do not flock to FPS type rpg's without any other differentiating feature.
Why do you think Tabula Rasa died?
I love the art style.
FPS Type RPG?
I didn't know they had announced an FPS combat system? Did I miss that?
Tabula Rasa isn't an FPS...
Those are some nice screenshots, its really coming along. The art style is growing on me too.
Well, the art seems to be coming along nicely...
BUT id much rather see a detailed example of the story

LOL ..... and TMI
---But seriously not bad and i like and still play COX
so there (sticks out tounge and goes neener, neener)
--On a sidenote i do hope they use some of the graphic effects from SW: The Force Unleashed some of those are awesome.

Man I can't WAIT for TOR!!!!! I'm now not playing ANY mmo's for the first time since 2003 and THIS is the ONE game I'm jonesing for!!!

Not me. I think they look great!
I can live with the graphics. I just want something I can enjoy that isn't the normal fantasy type.
